We have used this tent - with awning - for 2 seasons now and still find it a great tent. Lots of room for our family of five. We have done eight trips in it ranging from three to nine nights away. It has stayed dry in torrential rain and stayed put in high winds. It also has lots of vents and openings to let air circulate on those warmer days. We find it takes at least two of us to erect it - and it is easier with four (one supporting each corner until the end pegs and guys are in place). Pulling the poles upright is hard work. It probably takes us about an hour to fully unpack, erect and peg down both the tent and awning. This year, on a two centre holiday, we had to pack it up wet, leave it in the car for 3 days and then erect it again. The inside stayed dry. After two years of normal, family use it is still in excellent condition.

Each sleep pod takes two airbeds comfortably with room in between. We erect 2 very basic, small, cheap ridge tents either side of the living area for our teenagers. This still leaves plenty of space for luggage and games in the evening. We use the awning for cooking and eating.

The side porch is great for storing wet footwear in bad weather allowing the main doors to be kept closed and the tent dry inside.

Packing up needs to be done carefully as the tent bag is only just big enough for the folded tent. The bag is, however, strong and well designed with wheels and a handle to allow easy movement - needed as it is not a lightweight tent. Poles come in a separate bag and are also heavy!

Overall, great tent, well designed with useful details and robust enough for family holidays in the British weather.

I should start by saying that we love the tent. It is practical and with the carpet, footprint and extension very comfortable.

However, we have had two problems with it. The groundsheet has split after only 12 nights camping and the front window had glue sticking to it from the join to the main tent I assume. When I picked the glue off, it left a tiny hole in the window. We are talking with the retailer to resolve the issues and hopefully all will be well, but having paid a premium for this over the Colorado 6 for Outwell quality, we are a bit disappointed.

But. Assuming all will be resolved, we love the tent.

We bought this tent last year as we wanted a tent with space that was quicker to put up than our beautiful Norfolk lake.

It takes us 20 mins to put up(2 adults)we also found it easy to fit back in the bag.It obviously not as quiet in the rain as the Norfolk and not as warm/cool but then its not polycotton!(lol)

It has loads of room for 2 adults 1 child and a dog for a weekend not sure for a week(i take-away way too much stuff,Oh and the little bit on the side is great to put your loo in!

We loved this tent so much that this year we bought the awning to put the loads of extra stuff I need for a week (lol)and so we could camp for a week and not have to worry about trying to dry out the Norfy if it rained.

All in all a great easy to put up take down family tent.

This is a great tent. Watch how to put it up on you tube for tips, it helps. Despite it's size can be up in 20-30mins.

Very strong and loads of room and the porch bit is great for wet weather to leave shoes in.

We have used this tent in the UK and taken it to Spain and France camping and the space was appreciated. It's put up with very strong winds, rain and hale.

We have just returned from our first camping trip with our two boys and the tent was fantastic. We had watched several youtube videos before leaving which I would recommend but it sill took us slightly over the recommended erection time (two hours).

We opened up the bedding area to make one large one as we needed to have the boys either side of us rather than together. Although I have to say that we had three inflatable beds and a childs ready bed in there and there was only about two feet left either side certainly not enough for two more inflatable beds. I think to get six in you would have to have something else to sleep on. The living area was very big and even on rainy days there was plenty of room inside, although we do have the front awning as well. The tent stood up extremely well in the bad weather we had one day of very heavy rain and we felt completely comfortable in the tent.

One small tear has appeared which I have to sew up which is right in the top of the bedding area where the two halfs meet and where it is attached to the main tent but other than that it was perfect.

We used the awning area for cooking and it was also big enough to put our bikes in and at night we put the portaloo in the doorway bit that sticks out at the side.

We have had many different tents from frame to dome and the Montana 6 is by far the best. Admittedly we have only used it for 4 peeps and 1 dog but it suited our needs perfectly. Wouldn't think 6 could fit in it very comfortably!

Sleeping compartments easily fit double lilos with room to put bits and bobs around.

The side entrance we used as a cubby hole for shoes and wet stuff (only used in England so there were plenty of wet coats and wellies).

Living area, with a carpet was large enough for 2 adults and 2 not very small kids to live, cook, eat and play in BUT without being too big to be cold or need 2 pitches.

We also had the awning extension which was great for sitting out in whatever the weather.

One thing I particularly liked was that all the windows and doors have fly sheets so you get keep the air moving in and out without the insect life.

Have read some reviews about them leaking but we had no trouble.

The only sore point was Outwell video on how to put it up.We tried their way and what a polava! then we tried youtube where a nice man from Yeomans in Ambleside showed a much quicker way which is the one we adopted.Less than 25mins finished now.

Just got back from our last trip for the year, our first year with the Montana 6. This is just an amazing piece of engineering, so easy to put up I managed it with my 9 year old son took us about 30 mins. Had gales and heavy rain and the structure never moved slight leak though but only where the wind blew rain up through a vent.

One draw back though the flysheet bag isn't big enough unless you have a degree in origami :-)

I have marked this tent on the basis of the price. Its easy to put up, we like the side porch as we use it as a loo room. Easy to put up and easy to put away if you do it properly (watch the various you tube videos.) With the front awning (which is an extension) or the front extension(which is an awning) it is huge and easily accommodates 4 adults. I have been camping for 50 years and yet to find a tent that sleeps the number of people the manufacturer says it will.

It is also available as the Montana lake with a slightly bigger side bit and the more expensive poly cotton which is much cooler in summer and warmer in winter (as we found out at an outdoor exhibition). But more expensive. UUUM not sure if I could get away with upgrading again this year.

We spent weeks trying to choose a tent, we knew the Outwell Montana 6 had won awards but were put off by the price, we decided to go for the Nevada xl but when we got to Go Outdoors it had sold out so we got the Montana 6. Im so glad we did, yes it did cost more but there was plenty of room for friends to sit in on evenings when it got colder outside, also it didn't take too long to pitch and we are new to camping. We were lovely and warm during the night and despite heavy rain our tent remained dry. I recommend purchasing the footprint and carpet.

As we're both new to camping, and camping will be our only holidays for the next few years, we did a lot of research before deciding we had to have the Monty. We were not disappointed. Have just returned from out first trip - 4 nights in Northumberland. Can't fault the tent at all. There is loads of space which was great for sitting in at night when it was chilly. If there had been no windows (like some other tents we looked at) we would have felt hemmed in, but it was lovely looking out over the great views. The side porch was extremely useful to keep the porta-loo in at night.

As there's just the two of us, and the two dogs, we opened out the bedroom into one huge room (had a double bed each!) and, as others have said, it really does feel like a 'home from home'. We were lucky to have great weather to both pitch up and then pack away. The tent is heavy, and took us about an hour to pitch, but it was our first time and I'm sure we'll improve(we have no garden so couldn't do a practise run first). We even packed it back in the bag, although my husband had to roll on it to get the air out first (thanks to advice given on this website!). My next aim is to able to pitch it solo.A bit ambitious perhaps given the weight of the poles.

Also bought the footprint, but the carpet was out of stock, but will certainly buy in the future. Overall, a great purchase.
