4 Reviews of the Casablanca
By: NikiB13 Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2011 Rating: Date: 27/08/2012
Have had this tent for 18 months now. It is a really easy tent to assemble but it does have some quirks I'm not especially happy with but due to costs I can't afford to buy a different, more logical tent. As Jessicaemily stated, the rain sits on the roof flaps that cover the airvents and invariably runs through the vents therefore wetting the interior pods. I think it would have been better to have the airvents at each end of the tent rather than the roof.
We were camping in Cornwall at the beginning of the summer holiday and the weather was galeforce and very wet. It became a major downside to our break. However, we have just come back from a few days camping in Wales where the weather was not quite so bad and the leakage was less.
The Casablanca is a wonderfully huge tent with lots of space and designed for 12 persons. I would definitely buy a Skandika tent again but would now look at the design more closely.

We recommend this tent for disabled or novice campers as the simple design means it is very easy to put up. This is very important to us as we are both disabled, my partner is totally blind and I have spine injuries. We love our tent because there is so much room inside, and the hight means you don't have to bend to walk around inside.
So far our tent has survived intact 3 very bad storms with extremely high winds. Our only complaint, as already said, the flaps on top. They are great to let out the heat in hot weather, but wet and stormy days it sounds like you are going to take off and the rain blows under them. This year we are going to attach extra ropes to the sides of the flaps, then we can peg them down in storms, fingers crossed this solves the problem. We have scored this 8/10 because of the flaps but if you just go camping in fine weather then its 10/10

Update from my previous review.
'This is a Summer tent and probably a very good Summer Tent!'
We have just returned from a rather wet 6 days in Lakeland and I must point out what a disaster we have had. This tent not only leaks from quite a few seams but it has 2 1m x 1m air vents above each double sleeping pod with a really badly designed flap over the top. When the wind blows, as this happens when it rains, the wind pushes the rain upwards and through the air vents. This can't be stopped! Rain does not fall straight down, it mostly blows sideways so this design fault can only be rectified at the manufacturing stage and not with a bit of seam sealer. The wind noise of this useless flap sounds lke a small Spanish Motorbike with its silencer removed keeping everybody awake except my 6 & 7 year olds who can sleep through anything. The tent was a doddle to put up and looks great. We had a lot of fantastic comments but I am afraid we were very disappointed. I think I am more disappointed as I have to send it back but looks are not everything. I am in the process of dealing with Skandika and I will let you know how easy or difficult this has been.

We have just swapped our Skandika Saturn 4 which we were more than happy with for the New Casablanca.(more space required for in-laws) We have just put it up in the field near our home and can I tell you I am very impressed. It went up in 15 minutes even though I am not one for instructions. This is massive tent, 7m x 4m. Great height inside. Looks Superb. We had a massive storm a couple of weeks ago in the Saturn 4 so if the quality (I'm sure it is) is as good we will be warm and dry. We are off for a week in the lakes next week so if anything changes I will let you know.
