After a disastrous time with an Outwell Michigan 8, we purchased back in April and on the fourth replacement due to leaking in wet weather and the fourth being the worst we asked for our £540 for the tent and £30 for the carpet back!
We brought the Kampa Tenby 8 with free footprint and carpet for £575 and we have so much more for our money.
The tent is taller, longer, wider and the porch is wider too.
The footprint covers the porch area as well, not just the main part of the tent.
The sleeptight system which keeps our three year old asleep till 7.00 am is brilliant that alone is worth the extra £5.
The back door has a flymesh door,and the front door separating the living area and porch has two big D shape flymesh panel's which zip open or closed and when sat in the living area you can still keep an eye on what's happening out side.
The sleeping compartments have double doors a sleeptight door and a flymesh door.
The ventilation is so much better with the options of unzipping the side's of the two vents either end of the tent and rolling them up to expose the flymesh panels so that the breeze can flow through the tent.
The insulating roof lining makes quite a difference making it cooler in hot weather and warmer on the chiller nights. We noticed we did'nt have to keep the heater on as long as we did in the Michigan.
Last but not least there are two cable entry pionts .
We are a family of two adults,three children and a dog and all of these things have made a big difference.
The tent is heavier but worth the weight and well worth the money.

We wanted a tent for regular weekends and occasional weeks for family of four + potential guests. Having done lots of research we had settled on an Outwell Hartford as it seemed to fit the bill. Thankfully we saw one erected in the store (the brilliant SK camping in Surrey) and realised the bedroom pods were tiny for such a large tent. So being back to the drawing board we wandered around and stumbled across the Tenby 8.
The immediate impact was how much cooler it was than the other tents on a pretty sunny day. That's because of the roof anti-UV liner which is brilliant. The second impact was the perfect vis-a-vis configuration. I don't understand why more manufacturers don't adopt this. It gives you 2 sets of 2 good size bedrooms (or store-rooms) with a decent space between to keep disturbance to a minimum. The roofline is high so its stand-up in every area and the built-in canopy gives you a useful kitchen area to keep the big main living area clear.
Its pretty easy to erect (you do need a second person to raise the two primary cross poles) and the main structure does go up in 20 minutes. Pegging out though can take up to 45 depending on the ground as there are 80 pegging points. For most marked-out sites it gives you the maximum accommodation on a standard single pitch.
Our first trip away ended up with thunderstorms and it stood up beautifully - no leaks at all and rock-solid stable.
If you're looking for a long term tent and can afford the high price (we paid £525) this is a superb investment. The only note of caution would be the weight when packed. Even in 2 bags it weighs a ton and is pretty bulky (that's what quality does.). We bought a 3rd bag to split it down into more manageable packs and enable some of it to be lifted into a roof box. If car space is at a premium for you, you will struggle.

We recently purchased the Kampa Tenby 8 and I must say it is amazing. There is a very spacious lining area and porch, 6 people and two labradors were very comfortable with room to spare. The sleeping pods are also very spacious allowing double airbeds to fit easily with room either side.
The tent itself only took two of us 20 minutes to erect into a position that you could live in it. A further 20 minutes were then spent securing the guide ropes and pods.
The tent was very popular on site with lots of campers passing good comments.
It was by far the most rigid tent on the site and would easily withstand strong winds and inclement weather.
It made the Hartford tents on site look poor.
I would recommend this tent to any family looking to buy a tent that will last.

Manufacturer's Description
The Tenby is what we call a ‘vis-à-vis’ style tent, with two sets of bedrooms facing each other and the living area between, giving more privacy. A large front canopy protects the entrance to the tent - an ideal place to kick off your shoes - and this leads directly into the living area. This space can also be accessed through the rear door and on hot days both doors can be opened to provide ventilation through the tent. The bedrooms, either side of the living area, contrast to the brightly lit living area, the SleepTite System keeps their interiors nicely subdued – ideal for an afternoon nap. All Tenby models feature a Kampa roof lining that helps insulate the tent and provides a nice cosy feeling. As with all Kampa tents, the Tenby comes with a Sealed Groundsheet System to make sure that the weather and creepy crawlies stay outside. The Tenby 10 has a cathedral like living area! Surely enough space for any family or group. Up to ten people can sleep comfortably or it is possible to either leave out individual inner tents or set down and stow others depending upon your needs. There is also an area set aside for storage (it has a wardrobe bar for hanging clothes) or perhaps as a toilet compartment.
