5 Reviews of the Bear Lake 6 Front Extension

By: Bertie21  Reason: I own(ed) one  Made in: 2011   Rating:   Date: 19/06/2012

The Bl6 is a very good tent. By adding the front extension it becomes a great tent. It doubles the usable living area which was not small to start with. If the Sun shines it is somewhere to sit in the shade. If it rains it is somewhere to sit in the dry. I was able to cook 'outside' whilst being 'inside'. Worth every penny even if it does add considerably to the already heavy outfit. Well done Outwell.

I Bought a demo Bear Lake 6 after a bad experience with a cheap tent and have never looked back. I also have a kyham which I use for very short breaks as its smaller ,My only dislike to the Bear Lake 6 is having to put in the side poles as I am short and it can be a stretch for me . Other than this its a great tent and I would not go back to Nylon. Now looking to add the front canopy .

We purchased the front extension this year to replace the original sun canopy which is pretty much a waste of space.

What a difference it makes to the overall living/dining area. We sat out in it on most evenings where we probably would not have with the sun canopy.

Only downside can be the overall length of the complete unit so check the dimensions of the pitches of the site you are visiting. They do tend to vary from site to site.

Used just once at time of posting, good extra space will be really useful when it rains. It blends in well with the tent and doesn't stand out as an add-on which the side extension does. Only downsides are the amount of extra pegging and making sure the front isn't facing in to the wind, which can be quite difficult on some pitches due to the extra length of the tent.

Just seen this advertised. However, save money and buy a Montana 6 extension- it's made from nylon and works really well. Best thing I have bought for my tent since I bought the tent.

I don't use my side extension as it's not that effective. But the front extension makes the bear lake way better than the wolf lake and you get to all sit out the front morning, noon and night and even during the rain now
