9 Reviews of the Nevada MP & XLP Front Awning
By: Wunny Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2012 Rating: Date: 25/09/2012
At last, the perfect addition to the Nevada M.
Having got the open front extension, and finding it wasn't long enough to keep the rain off equipment, I put a second one on as well (see review & photo). Made it look like an aircraft hangar!
If the awning was available last year, I would never have bought the extensions.
As I said, perfect. It kept the weather at bay, and the equipment dry and gave us more room. What more could I ask?
I might, just for the photo, if nothing else, add it on to the two front extensions, but that won't be until 2013 ! ;o))

Just got back from Brittany with the Nevada M & new awning.
The awning added a great bit of extra room that left the living area of the tent very spacious. Had a down poor that tested both the tent & awning, both held up great.
There was the 4 of us & 6 new friends sitting around inside enjoying the storm & we didn't feel cramped at all.
It allows enough light, circulation & head room to make camping feel like a luxury in all weathers. Bought the 2012 version due to the fully closable front door area. Not disappointed at all.

We have just used the Nevada M with awning for an 8 night camp. We loved it :) Big enough for all our cooking equipment and food and the table with 3 chairs. I think it would be a squeeze to fit in any more than this but for a family of three it was perfect.
The best bit was that we could walk from the bedroom pod, across the living area, into the awning to put the kettle on and step on carpets all the way. Bliss :)

We bought the awning this year, at a great price form Go Outdoors using there price match + 10% off.
The awning gives a huge extra area and is especially useful on wet days for cooking. (Just make sure you have plenty of ventilation and it's away from the fabric)
Easy to erect and so far so good.
We are due to go camping again at the beginning of September, so we will be trying it out again.

I got a cracking buy with the Outwell Nevada m front awning at £139 off ebay brand new when others were selling it at £165-£224 and it was well worth it, like the other reviews say it offers loads of room and fits the Nevada well ,a definite must have piece of equipment. Its just as easy as the extension to set up and the ground sheet uses toggles and clips to attach it to the awning, it also has large pvc windows with curtains that roll down and not up. Now then what it could do with is a footprint groundsheet ( but I think I'll buy another Nevada m footprint and shape it to fit), and a carpet with a rubber front section because of the door section is so big that when rolled up and rains, you have to close it as the groundsheet does get wet and thats my only negative . On the whole a brilliant buy for anyone. P.S. I tried the extension in front of the awning , it does fit but only half of the extension is visible and usable also the whole tent package becomes too long but it was worth a try.

Great compared to the extension ,with bath tub ground sheet panoramic windows with (curtains),open or closed front entrance with eyelets for poles to make into a canopy.Elastic at the edges where it goes around the tent pole less draughty.
Negatives the front has no central guyline ,yes I know it possibly could b in the way when entering or exiting through the awning ,tie the front guy line out of the way when weather is fine(if there was one)bearing in mind the tent has two front guylines.Other negative if using the awning you cannot use the side guylines from the front pole as it just wont fit properly(wonder if the tent would withstand beaufort force 7 wind without them )I WOULD HAVE GIVEN THIS 10 SCORE if these problems were sorted (my opinion is it is far less likely to withstand wind the way the awning is designed to fit.)

Absolutely brilliant, only wish they had brought it out 3 years ago. It makes a huge difference, no more worrying about the rain coming in from the extension. Keeps the whole area lovely and warm, love the toggle down curtains. Love the fact that its very private when the curtains are all up but can let the sunshine in when necessary. Only one little issue is that we don't have a toggle point at the front of the tent for the bathtub sheet but heyho can't win all the time. Would definitely recommend it.

We used the front extension with our Nevada M last year so when the awning came out we upgraded.
The awning is a big improvement giving a weather proof enclosure that is bigger than the footprint of the extension. Having a bathtub groundsheet that attaches with toggles to the main tunnel part is useful as well. We keep the coolbox, food supplies and fold-out table with attached benches in the awning. Having a fitted groundsheet keeps it all off the ground and dry, and having shades for the windows means no more moving the coolbox around to keep it out of the sun!
In the evening after the kids are in bed we could close the awning up and leave the main tent open giving us double the living space out of the elements. This will also work very well in bad weather with the four of us confined to the tent (luckily we had good weather this weekend).
I packed the groundsheet with our tent footprint at the end so I could unpack them separately and dry them out after our return.
Overall a big improvement on the front extension and as usual great quality from Outwell.
Next time we go camping I might try to attach the extension to the front of the awning to create a monster tent!

Finally, Outwell have realised that not everyone is happy with the open front to the extension for the Nevada. We've just bought this front awning for our Nevada M, and used it this bank holiday weekend.
It's as straightforward to put up as the extension is, with the simple pegging in of the groundsheet to complete the set up. Outwell have added elastic to the sides that clip to the main tent, so there's no longer a gap for wind to get in through. Fantastic, plenty of room for our kitchen, 2 tables and 4 moon chairs in comfort, plus a camping fridge.
A most welcome addition to our camping kit.
