Superb tent - very easy to erect & put down - we had ours up in less than a couple of minutes.

As newcomers to camping & having made the mistake of buying a cheap tent from Tesco (never again!) we decided a pop-up tent was the way to go.

Having carried out some research, most conventional pop-ups don't have much headroom & looking at many reviews for some of the popular manufacturers, the popular consensus was that it can be a bit of a faff putting them back down.

With the Instant Tourer it's so easy to to put up and back down that it can easily be done by one person.

There's plenty of space, but as is common with many manufacturers, although they say it will fit four, in my opinion it will be a very tight fit and only achievable if you intend to sleep on matts.

In any event, this isn't an issue for us as it will only for the two of us & two dogs.

The headroom is quite good & I'm six foot (although I can't quite stand straight it's more than acceptable).

Unlike the other review here, we had no issues with the zip & the quality is very good.

For ease of use, size & weight it wins on all points.

We paid £125 including delivery it's worth shopping around, and for once, ebay couldn't beat other online stores.

This tent is the smaller brother of the Coleman 'Instant 4'. The 'Instant Tourer 4' only has 4 poles rather than the 6 found on the 'Instant 4' and is a lot smaller. Some retailers are still confusing the two tents! The tourer is ideal for one person using a full size camp bed,(or 2 using SIM's) with room for a small table and chair plus kit. I am 5ft 8in and I can 'almost' stand up straight but the design of the tent, with the poles externally placed, gives the impression of a much larger area (2.4m*2.4m square, 160cm height).

This is a friends tent but I pitched it, set it up and put it away with him. It certainly was a very quick pitch. It uses a unique steel pole spider-like frame system which looks rather strange to start with but we filmed it while pitching and it took under 1 minute to get it up (still had to guy it out though), so very impressed.

The quality is such that I am considering one myself for a one nighter or multi pitch trip. It stood up to some heavy rain and some fairly high gusts of wind without any problem and even although it is a single skin tent, it suffered very little condensation. The venting system consists of 2 cowls on the roof held open with a vlecro'd retaining strap and a large half panel at the rear which can be zipped open (with a zipped mozzie net) from the inside or outside.

The only door is an upside down 'J' and the zip tended to jam at the curved section. Strangely, it freed up when the tent was in the rain! It may free off with time as the material settles.

It is held firm by 4 corner pegs, 4 mid way pegs and 4 guy lines. The tent performed really well in the wind but if I had any concerns it would be with the way the upright poles extend. Each individual pole telescopically extends to full length and is held in place with a spring loaded button. IF the pole was to be bent (and I say if), I would worry that it might not contract back in properly, making packing it away impossible.

In summary, it has very few negative points and many positives! The quick pitch system worked far better in reality that I thought it would and I give it 9 out of 10 simply because of the small problem with the zip.
