We purchased this tent a month ago a took it for its first outing the 1st weekend in July.

We had a practice run beforehand which did go smoother. Bur within 1/2 hour we were ready to set up the inside of the tent.

The tent is massive inside and as it was a lovely evening it seemed far to big. When we retired for the evening the carpet and footrpint retained alot of warmth in the tent and it was lovely. Four adults, chairs and table fitted comfortably.

It then rained continuously for the next two days.

With four adults and two children we were able to cook, eat and relax inside the tent without feeling cramped and the windows gave us alot of light into the tent.

We did notice a small leak in one of the seams but once it dried out we sprayed it and it was fine the rest of the time.

We went out for the day with the weather being so bad and on the way back drove through thunder and lightening. We were expecting the worst when we got back but the tent was fine, no leaks nothing. I was really impressed and cant wait to go away in it again.

Although we haven't yet used our tent we will be for 2 weeks from 16th August & I just wanted to write a review as to why we made this purchase.

We have been camping in our garden every year for the last 4 years. Each year buying a larger / better equipped tent than the previous year.

I have spent almost 2 weeks researching a spacious tent & our requirements were the following.

1) To stand up in the majority of it

2) At least 2 'bedrooms'

3) An area for the kitchen / table & chairs

4) Fairly Easy / Quick to put up & pack away

5) Room for plenty of storage

6) Windows that open

7) Space to use as a toilet area

8) A good / fair price

So far this tent meets all our requirements!

On reading other reviews, this 2008 tent seems to be better though out than the 2007 version in terms of the bedroom layout.

I also love the idea of the walk in wardrobe, what a luxury!

We've purchased the Carpet & Kids Room to go with it so we'll use the 2,3,2 as Kids Room, Our Room & Toilet (hopefully)

The middle living area we're hoping to use to relax / play in and the outer living area to cook & eat in. I like the idea of the bath-tub groundsheet to shake off the kids 'mess' or wash down and dry outside if necessary.

We purchased this yesterday for £399.14 which compared to what many others have paid seems a bargain. The Kids room was £38.29 & the carpet £42.47 (Total £479.90)plus £12.95 delivery on top.

As some have suggested we have purchased better quality pegs so hopefully all will be okay?!

We've watched the video on erecting the tent and as soon as it arrives we'll test it out in the garden for a week before we go to the campsite.

I'll write a more detailed review on our return but just to say a big thank you to everyone here who adds their reviews, it was very helpful in our research!

We went away with it for the first time this weekend and it was an absolute delight. Very easy to put up (all the poles are the same length so you don't even have to follow colour coding)It took two of us approx 40 mins with four young kids to supervise at same time. It is a very stable and secure tent thanks to the steel pole construction, and the size is totally amazing. The front part of the tent is excellent for use for the wet and mucky times as said by other owners as the groundsheet is removable, we used it as a kitchen and dinning room and still had space for chairs, cupboards and stacking boxes. Herded the kids in there after they came out of the pool. The central area we used as a living room and invested in a lovely outwell carpet this helped to make the space warm and cosy, we were very impressed with the fit and the finish of it. The wardrobe is very useful and we hung clothes and coats and even put a cupboard and bags in it and at times used it to change in. We loved the multitude of clear windows most of which open up too, the tent is very airy and light inside even when it's raining. Bedrooms are huge, we fitted two double airbeds each side and two singles in the middle, the hanging hooks and the pockets are a nice touch as are the zip off tops to the bedroom 'doors' allowing you to just have mosquito netting covering the tops so that you can see in to check kids without having to unzip and allows great ventilation. One of our favourite things was the side extension, we pitched the tent side on and used this as our main entrance. Again it's huge, we cooked in there, Feed the kids in there and there was still room to sit and drink cold cider as we watched the sun go down. Can even sit out there and stay dry in the rain. I would definitely recommend both the tent and canopy, we couldn't fault it and it is definitley the best tent we have ever owned.

We bought this in the spring after returning our 2007 model as it leaked like a sieve.

We love this tent. It takes 2 of us about 35 minutes to erect it. We sleep in the middle room with our double height airbed. Daughter (age 12) has one room and son (also 12) has the other. There's plenty of room in the living area for sitting / eating or entertaining.
The porch is perfect as a kitchen storage/wet area. Have also cooked in it on occasions. On hot days it opens up with the huge front canopy giving plenty of shade. At first we thought the wardrobe was just a gimmick. However, we now know that it's great for storing everything. We put our outwell Grenada wardrobe in it with all our clothes, store the lamps, dirty washing, etc, keeping the living area tidy.
The tent stood up brilliantly in the recent bad bank holiday weather (we used delta pegs on the main guy ropes). We love the fact that all the windows can open fully allowing lots of air to circulate on hot days or to air the tent if it gets condensation. We've bought the side extension but haven't had the opportunity to use it yet - we thought it would be handy for access to the tent on wet days or as shade from the sun on hot ones.
We don't find it too difficult to get back in the bag when we take it down - we've worked out the best way to fold and roll it without too much stress and effort!

Over all, this is a luxury tent which offers plenty of space and comfort for family camping.

Despite this being an extremely large tent, it was relatively easy to pitch with 4 people (2 adults, 2 teens took 40 minutes first time). It has plenty of sleeping space for 6 although I'm not convinced you could fit 3 in the central sleeping area. Also, if using a kids' room then you end up having a flimsy, roll up divider between you and your teenagers!

The living space is huge and very useful for eating, playing card games in the rain etc. Wardrobe is a nice touch and useful for wet coats.

The end section is fantastic, can store shoes, dry clothes, store cooking equipment and food and bikes (all at the same time and is still spacious enough to cook in.

However, in the strong winds we experienced last week the tent was not particularly stable, the poles moved so much that we had to reposition the pegs! The square shape means that the wind hits it straight on. Also, we had great difficulty getting it back in its pack, despite trying all our usual ploys.

Finally, some campsites will not accept tents this big due to new fire regulations (much to our disappointment)

A good tent if your family is large as there's plenty of space but watch the weather and choose your campsite carefully!

Bought this last year and used in Scotland, Lincs and Derbys so far. Can highly recommend it. Very spacious. Sleeping configuration great for our family. Have just bought side extension and cant wait to use. Footprint and carpet a must. No leaks. Unfortunately when erecting this spring for the forthcoming season some mold / mildew on the roof even though we thought we had put away totally dry. Pitching very easy with two of you.

Bought this tent after lots and lots of looking around the market, the space and flexibility of this tent is unbeatable! Single room great for the son, middle room for hubby and I and end room for storage. So much space to spread out in living area (got the carpet too, v v cosy) and excellent room in the porch area for kitchen and dining table. Definitely worth the money, been out in all kinds of wind and rain with no leaking! Very highly recommended family tent.

Just used the Vermont XL for the first time (previously had a dome tent). Main reason for purchase was because it had the 3 bedrooms and plenty of room in the middle section.

Struggled to pitch it first time round. Prob 1 hour taken.

Bedrooms. Great. The main benefit is that you can stand up throughout them, getting changed etc.

Middle section.Good lay out. Door to each side. A sense of cosiness when closed at night. Plenty of room table and chairs etc. Pack the clothes in the wardrobe, which is functional if nothing else. Good cable tidy for elec light. Nice touch!

Front Section. Just as big as the middle section. Used for cooking and eating in. Can be opened up completely.

Very little rain over the weekend so no evidence of the dreaded Outwell leak so far!

Packed away easily. All in all Very impressed and can't wait for the next time!

A lovely light tent, very well thought out. The 2007 model had a 2/4/1 bedroom layout, which was very cramped in the 1 bed area, but the 2008 model has a 2/3/2 layout.

The middle living space has a sewn in grounsheet, which is very cosy. The front space, which we used for cooking and eating, has a bath-tub groundsheet. We also purchase a side extension, which was great for coming in and out of the side door in wet weather, and for getting out of the breeze in the evenings.

We had a very wet fortnight in it, with not a leak in sight :D

Highly recommended
