We bought this tent 4 weeks ago and used it twice once with no porch then we bought a porch which made a big difference. We are quite new to camping but really pleased with the decision to buy the kalahari 8. We paid £200 for the tent £50 for the porch and then bought the footprint and the carpet . We found it very very easy to put up and no leaks and draughts even in gale force winds and heavy rain which was our first time we used it. All in all an excellent buy would recommend to anyone.

I bought the Kalahari 8 as I wanted more bedrooms and bigger living area. I have never had a tent so easy to put up that me and my 2 daughters can do it with ease The bedrooms are large enough to get a double air bed in, the living area although big would be a bit of a squeeze with 8 people 8 chairs and a table in but there is only 4 of us so plenty of space. There is a zipped electric entry point at both sides so it doesn't matter which way round you pitch you can always reach your electric hook up box. You can now buy the porch which gives you more room to cook in or store things. All in all a good size tent.

We bought this tent in May this year as we wanted something with more living space for days when the weather isn't kind.
We took it home and decided to put it up in the garden to see how long it would take and use it as a practise run before we got to a campsite.
It is by far the easiest tent I've ever put up. Me and my wife can now put it up in 8 minutes. Its so simple, peg down the extra ground sheet, thread the 5 poles through, clip them in and peg it round and packing away is just as easy - not like those tents that never go back in the bag.
We also purchased the carpet and porch which are 2 great additions, the porch gives you some great room for cooking and we use that as a kitchen which still leaves an inside area big enough for 5/6 people to sit around a table and eat.
The real test was last week in Croyde, some flash flooding and heavy winds but the tent stood up to it without a problem, We would highly recommend this tent to anyone. Great value, Great size ans easy to erect.

Brought this last year in September needed more bedrooms kids too old to share now.
Had a weekend in September 2009 but the real test was in August this year or a week at Kelling Heath .It stood up to some very very windy weather and a few bad downpours at night. The only thing that happened was that 2 guide ropes which hold the flap to the bedroom air vents down came loose the noise sounded like we were going to take off eventually a 4am when I plucked up courage to check and tie them down it seemed better.Very pleased with its performance.
It's got 4 big bedrooms which a double bed fits nicely into just enough foot room to stand up at the top end of the beds to open the zips .However its the 1 st time taking mum she has a huge deep king-size blow up bed because she has walking difficulties and finds it hard to get out a lower bed.
The plan was to have luggage in one room,us in one, kids ,and mum in last room .Good job the dividers between the rooms come down as her bed took up more than one room she still had good room to put her baggage and be able to stand in the bedroom too.
Our luggage was in the living area we still had room for 1 chair for mum 4 adults and 2 kids to sit on the floor to play cards when it was raining(brought the carpet this year go get one ,well worth the money)
We also got the porch this year ,expensive half the price of the tent,got the tent bargain price £199 the porch was slightly darker blue we were a bit disappointed at first but its worth it especially in bad weather taking off shoes coats etc.
Its quite big we take a cooking/utility tent as there are two families but we always pack it away the night before, one kitchen stand and cooking equipment and fridge easily fit along one side of it .It's not a snug fit as you would expect just don't leave thing you don't want to get wet close to the tent side .It doesn't come with a ground sheet either .
It was pretty easy to put up and down, as is the tent you can do them easily in 40 mins ,5 tent poles and you are away .
Always more difficult folding it up and getting it in the bag though, open the 2 holes which are used to peg inner bedrooms down these help let the air out
Bedrooms are removable so you can use 2 or 4 but carpet only fits the middle bit. We used the footprint ground sheet too however there are no holes for those 2 bedroom fixing holes so we left those pegs out because we would damage the footprint groundsheet.
Footprint ground sheet are good as you don't have too clean the bathtub ground sheet off if its muddy/wet it can damage the tent if not cleaned off. Last September we didn't have it and on putting the tent up this year even though we always sweep off the mud and dry off there was mould on the windows (remember to dry the underside of the window flaps this may be where we went wrong).
In all a perfect big but not too big tent which we are very pleased with and would recommend.

Excellent value for money and would recommend to all campers whether it's your first time or 100th time! Very easy to put up, I managed it on my own in an hour with my seven year old son and 5 year old daughter helping with pegs and ropes. Extremely good in bad weather. It's very spacious with two large bedrooms and plenty of living space however I would recommend the porch as without it, you don't really have anywhere to cook but out in the open. Unfortunately if you got the green tent in 2009 as we did you cant get a matching porch which is such a shame, the blue porch would stick out like a sore thumb! We are trying out another make (Suncamp Verano DL £89.99) as I don't want to change the tent.

Like most other buyers our K8 was from Go Outdoors. Having previously used a 1968 Cabanon frame tent we found this very easy to transport and set up. Out tent was occupied by the two of us and our loyal dog, Boomer. We only required one bedroom so had acres of space in the tent to stretch out and relax, even though Boomer was tempted into next doors tent at the prospect of some sausages! We had to pay an extra £2 a night for the large outfit but for the comfort this was well worth it. The tent stood up well to the rain we had overnight and we managed to keep out nearly all the creepy crawlies with the bug mesh doors. Setting up and putting away was fine, without a single swear word, and, miracle of miracles we got it into the case FIRST TIME! This tent is wonderful for the money, you should be happy to pay £300, but shop around for a bargain if you can, or wait til you get a money off voucher from Go - anyone interested in a value for money , do it all tent will be more than pleased with their purchase.

This is the first tent we have ever bought and went camping in it last year. We absolutely love this tent, it stood the test when there was a severe weather warning in Cornwall last year and a hurricane came in from the sea. Lots of tents around us fell apart but our Kalamari 8 was still standing proud in the morning, even though it felt like it was taking off throughout the night. We have just had another lovely holiday in this tent and used one of the bedrooms as a wardrobe/storage area this year. We are considering getting the porch for next year. We have not had any problems with leaking. We find this tent to be roomy and very sturdy, and my husband is 6ft 1in and can easily stand up in the living area and bedrooms. We would recommend this tent to anyone.

In response about leaking roof yes ours leaked but only where it had light blue fabric, this has now been changed to navy on new tents. We have had ours exchanged .The fabric was very different on the first one and only leaked through that one roof panel, have been informed the earlier Kalahari 8 tents from 2009 have had many complaints for this problem

We bought this tent last year as complete camping novices. Were advised to get a tunnel tent as easy to put up - this fits the bill perfectly. It takes 2 adults 30 minutes including sorting out the bedrooms inside. I have also managed to put it up by myself in about and hour (and a lot of sweating!). We have 3 children that share 1 large bedroom and we have the other so don't split the pods up.
Last month we also got the porch and carpet to match. The porch is massive - we keep the cooker/food etc in here along with a folding table/4 chairs. This leaves the main room tidy and clean. The porch is a little tricky to put up compared with the rest of tent and is definitely a 2 person job. The carpet insulates the ground so has kept us warm - although it only fits the main room. We have had a couple of leaks in heavy rain where the water pools on the roof above the bedrooms and drips through. I am not sure if this is user error i.E. Not pulling it tight enough when putting up? Would be interested to know if anyone else has had this problem. Otherwise I would highly recommend.

In response to Llewisp, there's definitely a porch to go with the Kalahari 8. I have got the gelert equivalent on My Outwell Montana 12 but Go Outdoors have the Kalahari 8 porch pictured in their latest brochure for £99! Hope this helps because it is def a big bonus having a drying area and somewhere to use as a kitchen.
