5 Reviews of the 4000-ease

Excellent service from Soulpad, despite a few problems with the delivery of our order they were always quick to respond to emails and put things right.
We ordered our 4m 'ease' (with sewn-in groundsheet) along with the blaze stove so we could escape the city during 'off-peak' times of year. We've used it a few times this year - and it's been fantastic, regardless of the weather. If it's cold or wet outside we just fire up the stove and can sit quite comfortably inside.
We've been through a few days of rain and wind in Scotland and the canvas has coped fine - not a single leak, and it's not drafty at all.
Definitely a good investment, we hope to make much more use of it over the coming years.

My Bell tent, 4000 ease from Soulpad 2010 has had an eventful year! It was blissful to camp in, a fab vibe and good temperature. However, after coping well with heavy rain in Cornwall - completely dry inside - it got caught in a flood while stored! The tent was found floating in 3 inches of water (in an open waterproof laundry bag). It was a few months before we could get over to pick it up (was not stored at home) and then a few weeks until it could be put up and checked. Some patches of canvas were still wet, also a few patches on the SIG but it had survived remarkably well! Minimal mould and hardly any musty smell, still fine to camp in. I will clean and re-proof and expect small dots of black will stay forever but considering how damp it was for so long, I am very pleased with how good it looks. Will be using it again this year.
Last summer we found the 4m space a bit cramped but this was me & 3 kids, including 2 teenagers. It was such a good vibe inside, my 15yr old son abandoned his nylon pup tent completely (after getting soaked through one night) and slept in with the rest of us very comfortably(on camp beds). We used the bijou inner (takes up a quarter of the circle)which fitted a camp bed well, but might be a squeeze for a double mattress. This is something we are about to test on a camping trip in July; five of us this time. We are thinking of buying an additional bell tent for the 3 kids/teens to sleep in.
So highly recommend this tent, although go for the 5m if more than a couple of small kids, and although it should always be packed away dry, these are really tough tents!

It's here! Reason for this review before we've even used the thing is Soulpad themselves. Hence why it's only a 9 - as we've yet to use it!
Couldn't ask for a better service - friendly, good advice and delivered next day.
Now it's sat in the living room, all bagged up and ready to go. Off for an inaugural outing to Anglesey, the only possible hitch is that the good weather is due to end this weekend and we may just have a storm to contend with. Oh well as long as there's a decent dry pack up I've no qualms about the SPs ability to cope.

We have only tried the soulpad out for one dry weekend in Bishops Castle, however, I would agree with the above comments. The differences I noticed was feeling cool in hot weather. At night, the open plan and high roof did make it a wee bit chilly at night. We are still awaiting for the fire burning stove to be delivered, due to demand.
In weighing up the alternatives, I did consider the canvasandcast special offer, which was cheaper and came with inner compartment, porch shelter, lamps and stove. I have to say that the soulpads stove and accessories looked the more stylish of the two. The stove and lanterns on the c&c tent were too busy/gaudy for my liking. However, I have since read that the canvas on the c$c tent is considerably thicker, which is preferable.
Jill is now looking at interior design and has bought rugs and mats. The accessories from Soulpad, look on the pricey side. Eg carpet £180, although you can always shop around. Got one for £80.
It's early days, and we'll have to see how we get on with the canvas tenting experience. My first experience of camping was in my Dad's 2 man canvas army tent, which was dark green and smelt of cat urine.

By far the best tent I have ever owned!
Good points:
- Easy and quick to pitch (ten minutes tops)
- Canvas, so less condensation
- Stylish
- Spacious
- Can take a woodburning stove (which ours has) which is perfect for winter camping and cold wet nights.
- Durable, tough, canvas
- Promotes tent envy amongst other campers!
- SIG, so nice and cosy
Bad points:
- Needs to be totally dry for storage
- Could be prone to mildew if not looked after properly
- Makes you feel even more fed up when you have to go home.
We used ours with our blaze stove on New Years Eve, and although it was -3c outside, we were toasty warm in the tent!
I would thoroughly recommend a Soulpad to anyone who's looking to camp in a more unique and stylish way.
