This is an addition to my earlier review in 2008.
Returned from 3 weeks of some of the worst weather I've seen. In Cornwall we were pitched without shelter on a hill in gale force winds, while suffering the heaviest rain I've encountered in this country. Locals said nothing like it in living memory.
Have checked the tent over on return and there's not a stitch out of place. Never let a drop of rain in either. Other tents on site were damaged or gave up the ghost.
Couldn't let such a performance go unremarked.

Bought this tent at the end of last year and tried it last week for the first time. Survived torrential rain and thunderstorm no problem. There are only two of us, so it is outrageously roomy for us. We have extra large air beds and XL sleeping bags, so the bedroom space was just right with the centre panel removed. In the living area, we found the clothes rail useful, but the wardrobe was a bit intrusive, so we dropped that and just used the rail. This made the living area a more useful space, i.E. Rectangular instead of 'L' shaped. The porch area was very useful for changing shoes / boots as others have said. We attached as an experiment a Minnesota 4 sun canopy, which worked very well. I have posted about this on the 'tent info' section. We could leave this in place at night with the tent door closed, so we think its a bit better than using the front door of the tent as a canopy, but admittedly we haven't tried that yet. All in all, we are very pleased indeed with this tent, its all very well thought out, well made, and versatile.

Bought this tent in March 2009 after much research and debate between the Vermont and Montana. Finally opted for the Vermont because of the additional porch area which is incredibly useful for wet boots, wet dogs and cooking. Used the tent for the first time over the Easter Weekend and we were delighted with it. Total set up time was just under an hour and with the separately purchased delta pegs in place the whole unit was stable throughout the weekend. There was more than enough space for my wife and I, the two kids and the two dogs. The built-in wardrobe was an excellent store for all the usual clutter leaving the living area clear with enough room for four chairs and a table. My only (very minor) gripe is the bathtub groundsheet in the porch - it would have been ideal if the sewn-in groundsheet had been extended out to the front of the tent. Other than that, an absolutely fantastic unit that we cannot wait to use again over the summer.

Wow - what a great tent. Just been away for 2 nights (April 2009) and the tent was great. Had a bit of a struggle putting it up for the first time, but well worth the time it took (an hour and a half from unzipping the bag to fitting the carpet - I'm sure we'll get quicker at it). For just the two of us this tent is perfect. Plenty of room for table and chairs indoors and cooking and more chairs in the porch area. Didn't get the opportunity to put the front up as a canopy as it was a bit windy. We unzipped the bedroom divider so that we had one large room with the mattress in the middle. Plenty of room on either side to put clothes etc. Got this tent for £400 from Winfields - a really good buy. Even had tent envy from a couple with a caravan!

What a brilliant tent! on the last camping trip we had sun, rain, WIND and more rain and the tent was solid. The interior space is huge even for us and our 7 month old Lab + cage. It was a bit of a struggle to put up the first time but its now a doddle. We now have the carpet and the foot print so inside is nice and cosy like a home from home. If its just for a couple or a small family of 4 this tent is the one. One thing to mention is we did have a bit of tent envy from the other campers on site but with such a good looking tent who can blame them. If you do buy one I would recommend that when you are ready to roll up your tent that you roll from the back to the front that way you will avoid doing it twice like we did on our first time camping.

Recently brought this tent in June, after a lot of searching for a tent that met our needs. Had only seen the L on display so took a gamble as there is only my wife myself and the dog to use the tent. Excellent met our needs plenty of room handy having the front area as previous mentioned for wet shoes etc cooking and drying the husband off sorry mean the dog.Never used the wardrobe so had more living space nice and airy and well ventilated if required. The only problem was that we did have leaks but outwell and wildit.Com (from whom we purchased it from over the internet) have been excellent and it has now been replaced waiting for it to arrive. Due to the rain my wife as now purchased the side extension so have not as yet tried it. Also have the footprint and the carpet which are all added luxuries to make camping a great joy. This is the 3rd tent in three years so hopefully now instead of spending weekends searching for tents we can now enjoy the time camping

Excellent, well-designed and roomy tent for up to four people.
Being essentially a tunnel tent, so no porches, bedroom pods or anything stuck on the side, it is simple to erect, though can be heavy due to all-metal poles. When breaking camp it packs all-in-one, and the fact of its SIG makes folding it quite easy. Outwells have a name for being a tight fit getting the tent into the bag, but no worries here as long as you take the trouble to get the air out as you fold and roll the tent up.
The interior of the tent is very well planned. At the front is a porch area with front access which can be used as a sort of conservatory (it has 7 windows with curtains), or a kitchen, or as an area to keep wet boots/coats etc. It comes with a bathtub groundsheet but we usually don't bother with it if the grass is nice.
Passing beyond the zipped door one enters the middle and bug-proof part of the tent. This has a SIG and windows that can be open, closed or open with a bug screen - a choice for all occasions (and temperatures!). This section also has two doors (with bug screens) for easy access or added ventilation. A large 8-section organiser with big pockets really helps keep the tent tidy.
To the rear of this section are the two bedrooms - large enough for a good size double airbed each and to stand up in. They can be converted into one big bedroom, or one room can be completely unzipped to make extra living space - very versatile.
Being a tunnel design means good headroom right through the tent, and being a very long but fairly thin (3.3m) design means no arguments with site owners like Monty owners are increasingly having over their side porches.
The sloped ends mean that the tent has good wind deflection properties; we have found it very stable in strong winds (also due to very strong steel poles). A slight downside to this is that the front door, being sloped can drop rain onto you when getting out, and it is a bit of a strtch to the bottom of the zip.
A feature we find very useful is a wardrobe with a hanger rail - means one can hang shirts etc. Up and prevent creases.
Overall the tent gives the impression of quality manufacture, and indeed has a 5000mm HH. Two or four people will find it easy to live in this tent for extended holidays.
Finally, we splashed out on a footprint groundsheet and a carpet. Really worthwhile additions for our part - the carpet especially makes the tent feel really snug.
We love our Vermont, and recommend it without hesitation to a family of up to four.

This really is a top class tent. Two adults and two children and we still had loads of space, the hanging wardrobe is a nice little extra. Takes a bit of getting ued to when putting up, but if you get it right then their is hardly any movement with the wind, with the sewn in groundsheet no chilly draughts during the night. All in all a great family tent that has everything you would need.

Have just recently purchased and used this tent for the first time recently on a weekend break. We had originally decided on the Montana 6 but opted for this one because of the porch at the front which is just like a monty with an extension but it can be closed off. I am so glad we chose the vermont what a fab tent, took a little longer than expected to pitch but it was a first attempt and only second time pitching a tent so altogether was mighty pleased with ourselves. After speaking to the guy where we bought the tent realised we had made a few mistakes such as undoing the tension strap before we got all the ring pins in and we also had the door to the living area opened which made the tension incorrect which is why we had a little difficulty pitching. Had rain on both nights and we were as dry as a bone however no wind to speak of so cannot comment on performance there. Overall a great family tent bags of space in the living area never felt like we were cramped at all we had 3 chairs set up in the living area and table chairs and kitchen unit set up in the porch area this makes it easy to move cooker etc out for cooking but can be easily moved back in and tent zipped up leaving all kitchen stuff tidied away instead of having to leave it outside there is still plenty of room to use the front entrance as we did but if preferred there is another entrance/exit in the living area making this a very versatile tent. We are chuffed to bits with our new tent and we had loads of people stop to admire, can't wait to use it again. There are a few pics on my profile if any one wants a look.
