Bought this tent after looking at several 6 & 8 berth tents and we are really impressed with it. There are just 3 of us so there is plenty of room inside, especially as we only put up the 4 man and one of the double rooms. It was raining when we put the tent up, however everything stayed bone-dry inside.

Pros -

Size

Bedroom flexibility

Easy to erect

Large storage bags

Quick to dry out after rain

Cons -

Rain can get in when opening the door. The porch (which will be our next purchase) should stop this.

We have just used our Horizon 8 for our first ever camping trip! We went to Scotland for a week (mad I know) and boy did it rain!

Arrived at campsite at 830pm and worried that we would be struggling in the dark but no worries with this tent. I got the kettle out and made a cuppa while hubby practically put it up on his own, only needing a hand to put pins in poles before erecting. Took less than an hour to do inside and out including pegging out.

The tent is fantastic. Loads of space loads of options with bedrooms/entrances. As I said it rained really hard the first night and we stayed dry. Rain on and off all week but we stayed completely dry while many others gave up and went home. I have to say alot of caravanners were amazed at how good the tent was and the space inside.

It rained while we were packing up so had to put the tent up again in our garden when we got home but it dried really quickly another good point.

I'm so so glad we chose this tent and have already booked our next trip.

I really cant find fault with it so would highly recommend it to anyone out there.

Tent looked lovely on display and I like the Gelert quality. Easy to put up even on my own an hour will see you all up and your gear inside and set up. I recommend the footprint as this can be pegged out so you know exactly where you will be when you finish as it is quite large. Problems we had were, blue tent but green insides supplied this was changed by supplier. We have done 4 trips of about 12 days in total and have broken 2 poles already, they do form a tight curve if the feral on the pole gets caught as it goes into the pole envelope and you don't notice as you bend the pole to push the ring and eye in snap! so user error but please have spare poles with you. Carpet is a nice touch and really gives a warm feel.

Main problem for us was if it rains you have to zip all the doors up or water runs off the roof and in to the tent so without the porch going away in the rain is annoying. When you are all zipped up we had a lot of condensation as we were sealed in for 3 days of heavy rain, porch would have made a huge difference as door could have been left open for maximum ventilation. There are small windows either side but if you have kids they will not see out. Nice tent but for us we will be changing to one with more windows and better ventilation

Brilliant! Just taken our new tent away for a wet 4 nights in Wales. It coped brilliantly with rain and high wind. We invested in the foot print and porch - we highly recommend both. We are a family of 6 and the tent was spacious enough to spend the whole day in - the living area is huge with loads of head room. Sewn-in-ground sheet (SIG) is a massive bonus keeping out wind rain and bugs. Easy to erect for such a large tent.

Cant recommend it highly enough.

We had a weekend of bad weather torrential rain and heavy winds and this tent stood the test of time. One complaint is why couldn't they do the end zip like the others it was flapping around in very strong winds this weekend. Excellent choice well worth the money I think. Its also very warm in the sun and with a carpet is the best .

I looked at many tents before selecting this and the first weekend away with it justified its selection, as it withstood prolonged downpours, high wind (a brief sunny spell) and then torrential rain without problem. A shame that the porch didn't arrive until we got back, but even without that there was sufficient space for the 5 of us (3 daughters sharing the large bedroom pod without its screen and leaving more storage space inside the tent. Despite a sloping site and wet boots stacked by the doorway (and NO porch at that point), no water got in, while other campers packed up and went home to get dry. My reluctant-camper wife was won over too!

Just has first camping weekend in our new Horizon 8 and it was fabulous in every way. The bedrooms were all large enough for our campbeds and there was lots of room in the living area. I will be buying the canopy/porch but we did survive no probs without it. The SIG is brilliant. In one weekend we had sunshine and heavy downpours but this tent stood the test while all around us flooded. Great.

This tent is great. We have just returned from our first holiday of the year and it has been tested in all kinds of weather. We erected it is hot sunny weather but during the week we encountered strong winds and heavy rain but this tent withstood it all.

We used three bedrooms as a family of 5, with the larger one used for dressing and storage too. My son had a room to himself with oodles of space and my other 2 kids shared a room with 2 camp beds and still had space to dress.

The living area space is amazing even holding 9 of us around 2 large tables for our traditional card night.

We bought the porch which was great for cooking, storing the shoes outside the SIG and we even set up an indoor washing line. Also the carpet was a godsend - you really notice a big difference, it's well worth the extra money.

We had no problems with erecting or packing away this tent. You do need at least two people to do it effectively but overall a great buy for us. Highly recommended.

We love this tent. Having previously had tents you had to crawl into being able to stand up in it is fantastic. There are only three of us (parents and teenage son) but we like our space. We will be joined by another of our children when we use it next and there is plenty of room for the offspring to have a 'room' each with room for storing equipment and a 'room' for us as well.

We bought the carpet which we recommend.

Don't know how other reviewers managed to get it up so quickly. It took us far longer, both when trying it out at home and on a rather windy site this weekend.

Only snag is that when using it in the garden our son managed to get the facing of one of the door zips caught and damage the zip. We used the other door on the next outing. He also managed to crack a pole when helping to put it up.

We are looking forward to our next trip.

I am so impressed. We have just returned from our first outing with our Gelert Horizon 8 which I bought from Ebay for the bargain price of £105. The lady which I bought it off said she had used it once but it looked brand new to me. I also bought it with the sun canopy which is absolutely fab and I would highly recommend it.

Firstly we found it very easy to erect as all pole holes and other holes are all colour coordinated so it's impossible to go wrong. There was more than enough space for my family which is 2 adults and 3 children. It was warm and very wind proof. Usually when we go camping I have tent envy of others but this time people were checking out my tent.

I also bought the tent carpet to match my tent and can honestly say it's one of the best accessories that I have bought to date, the difference under foot was massive and everyone in my party was admiring that too.Lol
