Well that was me just getting my tent out the bag for the 1st time yesterday to check all was well before we go away with it next week. Got as far as opening it out and noticed it was filthy and wet/damp. Put it straight back in the bag and tore down to GO asking for a 'new' 1 and not 1 that had been used and returned filthy. (Tut tut GOOUTDOORS)

Got back home and proceeded to erect the new 1 only to be disappointed again as there was a toggle fastener missing to secure the front door curtain but not taking it back, should hold with Velcro. Would probably have been ok if the curtain rolled from top to bottom instead of bottom to top (strange set up) A bit footery to zip closed from the inside but looking forward to trying it out next weekend.

We bought our Mojave 5 (2011) from Go Outdoors £129 to replace our Carplan 5. The main reason for this the extra space it provides, along with the introduction of numerous windows. We have used it several times since March in all weathers. It seems to us that Hi Gear have addressed all the issues with earlier models. It has stood-up to all weathers that Scotland can throw at it. No leaks at all. Packing it away in the wind is fun, but is that not the same with all tents. We have nicknamed our tent Amityville, because of the way it looks at night with the lights on inside, but as far as we are concerned there is no horror with this tent. Just happy camping.

Just bought mojave5 in early march £129.99, special offer at go outdoors. This replaces Vango Icarus 500 which has nearly every pole split. The Mojave5 was easy to erect single handed, about 15 mins. Good size and pleased to find addition of 7 windows from side doors and across all of front, great addition. Only niggle, seemed draughty as was - 2 outside at night and difficult to zip up doors from inside. Will review further as will be used every weekend at Brands Hatch from March till November. so far seems excellent value for money

Hiya, I was in my local Go store last week after receiving the latest email from them regarding the sale of the Mojave 5. From the 7th to the 13th March this model comes down from £199 to £129. I've known for a while it was going to drop in price so decided to hold off till the 7th.

Good news was I seen it had the full sewn in groundsheet (no more need for the velcro carry on) but the best news is that it has 7 windows in the living area and a far better front entrance! Woohoo! I've always said I'd opt for this tent if it had windows.

I went and asked the assistant if this was the model that was getting reduced but he said that they'd probably be the old stock with no windows and velcro needing model :(

I was just wondering if anyone has seen this new version and do you rate it if you've purchased one?

Roll on Monday.

Update: I went back today to see if they would sell me 1 early in case it's the old version they put on sale. No joy, I was told it wouldn't come up £129 on the system until tomorrow.

The new model's front entrance in almost just all window and the windows on the side walls are a good size too :)

We have had this tent for a year now and love it. Easy to put up and pack away and has stood up to some very bad wind and rain. We have added some velcro along the bottom of the door on the front to stop any drafts. We too were looking for a canopy to cook in so I emailed Go Outdoors last August and was sent this response:

I can confirm that there are plans to make a porch/canopy for the Hi Gear Mojave

5. Please be aware it is not likely to be released for sale until the start of

Next year's camping season - around April.

We will be looking out for it in April!

Very simple to erect, especially compared to some of the god awful tents (particularly the halfords thing we had just) before this.

Seems well made, we've been all over with this thing, zips still haven't broken off, its all still in one piece (apart from some vandalism done on the door when we had the misfortune to visit Orchard Farm in Humanby) though obviously thats not a fault with the tent, luckily it also comes with a repair kit.

It also comes with all the poles/pegs, beware of some of the cheaper tents which don't include these, even though you'd assume they do.

Highly recommended tent, even in treacherous weather conditions you feel safe.

First place to check for one of these would be Go Outdoors, they seem to do special deals on these quite often.

Mojave 5 is worth every penny. Warm Dry and easy to erect. I use a power inverter with a cable running from my car, I was amazed to find a small opening in the Mojave 5 that allows a cable into the tent.

Its strong and very well built.

Comes in a strong bag.

Would recommend it to anyone.

I found the carpet was a little pricey

We bought a Mojave 5 last August for £100 whilst it was on special offer at Go Outdoors in Coatbridge near Glasgow.

Previously to this as an introduction to camping we had purchased a cheap four man tent which did not have a sewn in groundsheet and took ages to put up.

We went away for a weekend in August 2010. The Mojave 5 took us about 20 mins to put up which for us was a miracle.

It was heaven compared to our previous tent. The space inside the tent was magnificent, we could stand up inside the tent and it felt very spacious and the sewn in groundsheet was great.

We purchased the carpet for the tent also which made it feel very homely indeed.

The tent could have done with a window as it was looking and feeling very blue.

We have already booked our camping holidays for 2011 and with several weekends also planned we can't wait to get away with our Mojave 5 again.

I've just been on to go outdoors and they have told me there will be a canopy for the Mojave 5 out next April (2011). About time. They said it will be a front canopy but it should fit on the side as well. They're not sure of the price yet. Hope this info is of help as I have been trying to get one for a long time now.

We used our Mojave in August in South Cornwall, we were battered by gale force winds and heavy rain for three days. But the inside of the tent remained dry and the tent stood up to the high winds. We were very satisfied. I would like a porch for next year though so that we have somewhere dry to cook.

Manufacturer's Description

Easy to erect, easy to dismantle, and offering generous living space, the Mojave 5 is a great choice for families wanting comfortable, fuss-free camping, or couples wanting extra space for storage and fun.

It pitches outer first, with separate 3 and 2 person rooms that clip in to the underside.

With taped seams, a sewn-in groundsheet and completely waterproof outer layer (3000HH), you can be sure of total protection from rain and draughts.

The poles are angled to give you maximum headroom throughout the tent, so no need to stoop when you're inside. The pole sleeves have slick inners to make pitching the tent quick and easy.

In warmer weather, the breathable inner and 2 side doors with full mesh panels give you superb ventilation and allow plenty of light into the tent. The large front door can be extended out as a canopy, using the steel porch poles, offering shelter from sunshine or rain.

It has bright and reflective pre-attached guylines to keep it stable and secure, and more visible in the dark. There's also a electrical cable access point allowing you to use appliances inside the tent with the minimum of fuss.

A practical and versatile option for families, group campers or anyone who needs comfort and breathing room when out in the wild.
