6 Reviews of the Family

I bought this tent at the beginning of last year for about £70 in a sale at Millets. I used it once and one of the seams split, so took it back and got given a replacement straight away. Since last year the tent has been used at least 8 times and my son and I have enjoyed every camping trip. Unfortunately one of the seams did split slightly again but the leakage hasn't been that bad so we have carried on using it regardless. I'll get some sealant one day and patch it up. Having said that it has stood up to all kinds of weather very well. It only takes 20 minutes to put the whole thing up.

The only downside for me, being that I am 6ft 6, is that I have to do a lot of kneeling down in the tent, but you get used to it. I'm going to invest in a bigger tent one day. All in all I have been very pleased with the tent and it has served its purpose very well and at the price you can't really complain. I'm only giving it 6 out of 10 because of the seams and the fact that its not quite tall enough for me.

This is a fairly roomy tent - we use it to sleep 2 or 3 and there's space for storage.

It doesn't stand up awfully well to wet or windy weather. Also tends to leak at the seams a bit when it gets heavy condensation.

The worst places for leakage are the middle, where it drips in if there's the least little sag or fold in the tent, and in the end of the bedrooms. If it's really raining you can find yourself floating on your air bed in the morning.

But in calm, dry weather it is adequate for a couple or small family. Fairly easy to put up - took two of us about half an hour, and to put down again. Only 2 poles and it's fairly obvious how it all goes together. We don't bother putting the porch bit up as it's a bit feeble. It doesn't weigh much, and all fits nicely into it's bag. I bought it as a family starter kit, so it was well worth it for the extra bedding etc.

I bought this tent last year for 100 pounds from millets. At the time I thought it was a good price and I suppose it still is . There's not many tents around this size for this money. I have used it three times so far and a few things have started to rear there ugly heads.

1. The waterproofing is not that great not that is pours through but it does still drip a bit. (Nik Wax waterproofing fixes it nicely!)

2. Some of the stitching on the internal compartments are coming apart( Re stitching works)

3. If its windy you loose up to a foot of head room! ( too much flexing!)

4. Tent poles need to be a bit more manly, one of mine broke on the first outing .

5. Porch poles need re pegging every 5 minutes when a bit windy.

6. Not enough guylines to tie it to the ground and keep good shape.

Other than the above you get what you pay for.Good points are

Loads of room, easy to put up , nice size when packed away. Head room is good I'm 6 foot and can stand up easily in it.If the fix the above bad points you actually have a very good usable tent.

First family tent - had borrowed tents previously! Fantastic, plenty of space in sleeping pods and we were all able to stand up in it. It stood up to some very wet and windy days - especially when other tents around us were leaking badly. Easy to pitch and take down - we stayed at three sites during a week long break! Great price in a sale and compact to carry!

Fantastic tent. Really quick to put up and most people can stand up in the central 'living area'. Bedrooms are more generous than other similar sized tents. We got it in the sale last year for £50, so it was a bargain.

I bought it as starter tent for I am new to camping. The price I paid for it was good and it really suits for two adults and two children. The tent give good privacy and for a average size person it is an ideal one to have. As new to camping, the pitching instructions is easy to follow. Most of all the package included is dear and reasonable.
