User Reviews of the 2 Seconds XL III

Ours was a 2 man 'Stormshield' tent by Blacks - very clever Nissen Hut design, separate 'his and hers' entrances and built-in storage each side. Unfortunately, we nearly drowned in the Peaks in May - spent most of the night trying to stretch bin-liners over sleeping bags!
The replacement, after much searching, 2 Second XL 111 is brilliant. XL describes the extra section at the entrance: most people think this is storage space for bags (which it sort of is) but it's actually the perfect bedroom for our Border Terrier. She loves it and keeps sneaking in during the day - it's hers!
It doesn't need guy ropes unless it's windy. We also underlay our tent with a ground-sheet (helps to protect if there's anything sharp underneath). BUT don't allow the sheet to stick out anywhere: it guarantees to form a pool from the water running down the side which can't escape if it rains.

Just purchased one of these for an overnight camp at a garden party. Brilliant. So easy to put up and easy to put away (much easier than the Gelert twisters). Feels pretty substantial too. My Khyam fabric feels a bit flimsy in comparison. Just right for the two of us and great to have the little storage area outside the main area of the tent. So, so easy to get back into the bag too, just remember to check where the yellow strap is though!

We've just come back from the New Forest having spent 4 very comfortable nights in one of these tents despite the first 2 nights being very windy/rainy.
Simplicity itself to erect, slightly more difficult to pack away- but it only took a fool like me one go whilst at the campsite after a couple of practises at home. Check out Quechua's online guide to packing it away on their website.
I imagine it might be a bit snug for 3 people, but for me and the OH it was absolutely fine space-wise.
An excellent tent which I'd recommend to anyone.

These tents are great and there isn't much I can add that hasn't already been said.
I purchased one as I needed accommodation for a friends party so in true form for this site rather than pay for a hotel room I got a tent! I wanted something that would be useful afterwards hence going for the XL 3 as it means I can take my boys off on spur of the moment nights out.
The first time I used it was up in Anglesey on the coast & we had all weathers from sunshine, rain & high winds & it was great.

It's just fantastic for weekends so quick and easy, can't fault it. The only modification/addition I use is to pitch it on top of an extra groundsheet, so that when you fold it up you don't have to fold wet underside of ground sheet onto fly sheet, and so don't have to air it when you get home:-) See photo above of red tent with bit of groundsheet poking out!

I switched to quechua so that I could take 2 small children away on my own. We haven't been disappointed: over 10 trips away over 07/08 and never a leak or a peg loose in spite of lashing rain and hurricane winds! Mine are the 3 seconds version without the porch, so the only drawback in bad weather is that it is hard to keep all the kit dry, but that's a function of the small tent generally rather than the quechua. I can't recommend these highly enough: possible to pitch in 2 mins even in high winds with a screaming 2 year-old on one arm!

Brilliant tent for short stays and ease of erecting. We have a full size SunnCamp tent which can take well over half an hour to erect and barely seems worth the effort for a quick weekend getaway. However, the 2 Seconds XL III is particularly easy to erect and literally takes only a few mins to put up and have all your camping gubbins installed. When I last used it I was relaxing with my second tinny when I would normally have been banging in tent pegs on my 'normal' tent. Taking it down is slightly harder, but it's all down to technique in the act of folding it correctly. I'd definitely recommend a few trial runs at putting it away before you have to do it for real on a wet and windy camp site. When we used ours it lashed it down with rain for about 12 hours, but the tent remained perfectly dry in the living compartment and because of it's simplicity, it was not too onerous putting it away despite it being dripping wet (we dried it out when we got home to stop it going nasty). Not the cheapest on the market - but, as they say, you get what you pay for.

This tent is absolutely brill! It does exactly what it says on the it says on the packet. Pops up in seconds 4 pegs in the ground sheet and 4 pegs for the guys and your up and camping. Inner tent has a sewn in ground sheet and can be detached so outer could be used as beach shelter 4 pockets for your bits and a hook to hang your torch from. Cannot fault it.

This fantastic new invention turns a can of drink into a sealed bottle, protecting drinks from being spilt, keeping out creepy crawlies, and keeping fizz in. They are a must for any camper or caravanner.
