This is the best tent we have ever had, (we are in late 50's). But I have made adjustments to it.

1. I took the centre curtain out of the bedrooms and the piece that was sewn to the floor making it one big bedroom big enough for a queen size airbed.

2. We have a Minnesota 4 extension that fits perfectly.

3. Bought a good quality green ground sheet and made a cover that clips over the end of the extension in gales.

I would not think of changing this tent, and it is so easy to put up, and light to lift in, and out of the trailer, we use it regularly and can only give it 10 /10.

I owned a Montana 4…I say owned because it was returned to the retailer for a refund after my very first trip away in it! It leaked every time it rained, you could actually see the beads of water steadily oozing through the stitching where the porch was attached to the main tent and alongside the zip on the front door. A SIG is great until you realise that any leaking water has nowhere to go except toward your sleeping compartment!

The other thing I was really unimpressed by was the way the steel poles were already rusting after only 12 days. By the time I was ready to put the tent down at the end of the trip the poles required quite a lot of effort to pull apart.

The porch was great in the rain but a pest at any other time and it would have been better to replace the side window with another side door which was easier to get in and out of than the porch entrance.

The good things were the head height and the number of attachment points between the inner sleep compartment and the flysheet, which made the most of the room in the inner tent. Unfortunately the flysheet was very baggy in the front corners, which no matter how we pegged it out meant a lot of wasted space.

I should also point out that the weight of the tent is much, much higher than stated on the Outwell website. It was the same with the Nevada 4 I subsequently bought and also ended up returning due to an inaccurate description (2 and not 3 doors).

Love it - good for 2 people and OK for 3 I took daughter and partner on my own which was OK we would be bit pushed for 4 adults if wet and living indoors. But OK for weekend for 4. I used for long hol in France with other half and we loved it room for bed one half and clothes the other. Coped with rubbish weather. Nice and tall for 6'3' person. Love the carpet - what a luxury. Look out for shops selling these off folks!

Easy to put up once you know it.Use/buy the canopy,as we really needed it in the rain as no porch which is a real loss but rectified by canopy. Watch canopy in wind. Can be cold in bad weather as bedroom has mesh panels you cannot close so I put a towel over them in cold weather ( Devon in AUGUST sadly). Looking forward to first use in 2009!

I have an Outwell Montana 4. Bought it in the sale as they were updating to the new range. After years of buying 'supermarket' tents each summer and getting a bad back, chilblains, cold, wet and uncomfortable, wanted a tent that was sturdy, I could stand up in and would last more than 1 season before it was left at the campsite in the bin. I have taken this tent to V festival 3 times and sites round the UK. It is a little heavier and bigger than other tents I used in the past however the overall experience makes up for lugging it about. It is easy to put up and I have done it on my own but it is really a 2 man job. As mentioned before getting pins in teh holes can be a pain haven't yet found a simple secret for that one. I have 2 teenage sons who come camping with me and we have got 2 double air beds in each bed compartment with a couple of inches to spare. Has side entrance that floor comes up on so you can cook in it in rainy weather (lock it up at night if you have sons as I found one of mine watering the grass in there). The canopy for front door is a must and makes a nice covered area. Have camped twice a year for 3 years with it and no technical faults yet. Well worth the money

We purchased this tent in a sale at a bargain price, to use as a weekend tent, we already had an Outwell Vermont L, we used the tent for a weekend and found it to be great, just the right size, very easy to put up, plenty of living space, the side porch area is fantastic with numerous uses, much better than the side canopy on the minnesota 4, the first time we used it it rained constantly all weekend and we didn't have any leaks whatsoever, bedroom can be unzipped to make one big room which comfortably fits a double airbed and two singles

We also purchased the canopy which did the job, but the extension would provide better shelter

Overall a brilliant weekend tent

I have an Outwell Montana 4

Bought to allow me to stand up in the tent and sit inside in the rain - replaced Khyam Igloo

No poles broken - which has been reported elsewhere on this site as a problem.

Puts up fairly easy - even on own,

- use guys to pull up evenly. It can be difficult to get the pins in teh poles - lots of tension there.

Canopy is a MUST and excellent.

Can leave front door open when raining and not get wet!

Have had out on initial week when bought and for a very wet and windy weekend with my pregnant wife.

We remained dry with a few drops getting into tent.

Very pleased.

* One of the internal fabric ties has pulled off

* there seems to be a gap in the sewing between canvas and plastic groundsheet - will let water in

* Much more room than igloo overall BUT two bedroom compartments are separated by zip up separator which leaves a line of fabric when unzipped along bottom of bedroom area in the middle - essentially keeping the parts separate - so can't fully open area and use as big bedroom as have the fabric in the way. This means the actual sleeping space is less than small igloo tent and won't fit 2 extra large camp mats next to each other! - thinking of cutting this bottom line of fabric out - so door will zip down but not along bottom?!

Think a bit more room would be good and because of bedroom floor issues now think may have been better with Montana 6!

However expect that Montana 6 would be too much to handle in reality.

We'll see now we have a baby boy how we get on!
