6 Reviews of the Vermont P Side Extension
By: Nev Hedley Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2009 Rating: Date: 30/08/2010
I bought the side extension in August 2010 for my Vermont L, I put it up in really windy conditions in a valley in Yorkshire with (a little) help from others, I got it in a sale for £89.00 and it is worth every penny, we sat outside in the sun, rain, and wind and not once did I worry about it breaking free or blowing away, as I have previously said this product is money well spent and saved our weekend being ruined as we didn't have to stay cooped up inside our tents in bad weather!

We bought our Vermont extension in 2008 to go with the Vermont XL, and what a disappointment, in only a light breeze it was like a sail so we had to take it down after only two days before it ripped apart. The roof part of the extension is just not long enough, this was made for the old M version and has not been adjusted to fit the larger model

While this was great as a canopy for the rain it ruined our tent in the wind.
My advice is do not use this in windy conditions whatsoever, the straps over the tent made numerous tears/splits in the roof of our tent and the side canopy itself just ripped apart on the side.
We only bought it this year. :o(

We have this side extension and I have to say it was well worth the money! We have just got back from a rainy weekend in Wales and this was brilliant. We were able to sit under the canopy BBQing, relaxing with a glass of wine or two and were perfectly dry. It also assisted with keeping the tent dry at the entrance and the mud out!

Wouldn't be without it. We first put it up it looked a bit of a mess but proved to be invaluable when the rain decided to put in an appearance. We used it as a wet area to take off muddy boots and wet coats before entering the tent and creating a mess in there, also used it as an eating area as cover was invaluable in the sun and rain. Fantastic

The first time we tried to put this up we decided it was going on ebay thinking that it was of no use or ornament! However on a recent trip my OH decided it should be put up so with a few cross words and about 20 mins it was up, and I hate to say it but it was quite useful (we used it as a kitchen/ dining area)making loads more room in the front porch.
I don't know if it's us but the roof of the extension is very saggy and the way it secures over the main tent is far from ideal, looks like a bodge job no matter how well you put it up.
If it blew away tomorrow I don't think we'd replace it however we have been informed that a front extension for a montana will fit the front of our vermont l which would be a much better plan !

Another popular way for campers to upgrade their Vermont P tent. And a perfect match to the Vermont P for colouring and contours. As ever, its shape and materials means it fully integrates with the main tent, adding a mere 11kg extra to the overall weight.
