After a great deal of persuasion, I relented in purchasing a tent for our annual trip to France instead of the luxury of an 8-berth static with mod cons. The idea being we would get more use in the UK as well as abroad.
So in mid June after a great deal of research and some excellent advice from Casey’s in Chester we made the plunge for the Tigris 800 as there are five of us after all and we need lots of space! Hence, the need for the extension – an absolute must have, as is the footprint and definitely the carpet. Home from home.
After a couple of wet weekends enjoying the Welsh countryside we can confirm the pegs are no good, it does resist water well, stays up in the wind (although the extension doesn’t like the wind as much) and most of all a pleasure.
However, following our two weeks of excellent weather in Brittany (managed to get sunburn as proof that it was good!) we are a little (a lot) disappointed that we will now need to replace a number (a lot, sorry most!) of the poles. It appears that the “adhesive” securing the ferrules has weakened and only a few remain straight – whether it is because of the warm temp’s (mid 20’s), because the tent was pitched for two consecutive weeks or because you can only use them three times and you need to buy new ones we’re not sure!?
It wasn’t over tensioned, either internally or externally, there were no strong winds, only damp nights and one night of rain (nothing compared to our UK rain experiences!). Vango haven’t responded to my enquiry on their website so I guess it must be up to us to fund – they don’t tell you about this hidden cost when you purchase!

Its been a rocky ride. Like many other reviewers, we chose this tent after viewing it at local showroom. They didn't have stock, and we had a trip looming, so we picked up from a shop further afield. On first pitching TBS strap was frayed, so we exchanged it for another one. When we first pitched this one, it had a faulty groundsheet (looked like it had been ripped and repaired. Shop were fantastic about it, but didn't have another so got a refund. Bought one at local supplier in Sale, so was it third time lucky? Absolutely! Pitched for a weekend in Bala in light rain, heavier rain next day did not produce any leaks and it withstood the wind pretty well. Don't know if it's a coincidence but the new one is laurel/sage not smoke grey? As we have young kids wouldn't go anywhere too exposed anyway. One regret is that we didn't realise that some sites get a bit sniffy about the size, so we're considering getting a 5-6 for weekends and certain sites. Would recommend tent, but wonder whether perhaps Vango couldn't keep up with demand so manufacturing standards have been patchy this summer?

Fantastic, we have just returned from a few days in Buxton, it rained solid for 24 hours with added wind, the tent stood upto it no problems, although I'm suffering! watching us get a soggy muddy tent into the car must have been great fun for other campers.
Anyway, loads of room, the pods are really spacious and plenty of pockets for you to pop your night time things into, storage in the main area was really good, especially for the kids stuff, we used the fourth pod as a dressing room, which was great, in the past we have keep things in the car.
There were five of us using the tent, the kids sat and played in one of the pods, as there was so much room, there is a hole for the electrics.
Try to think which type of door you want to use when pegging out, as both side doors are different, one can be used as a roof type shelted the other doesn't, although the pods are colour coded, you could swap them no probs. I did watch the DVD, my youngest watched it 4 or 5 times! but it doesn't have enough information on it, it only shows you what most people already know by the time they are buying this size tent.
Once up, which was easy, I had to re-adjust some of the polls as the pods were tight and pulling in some areas, next time I wont tighten anything till all the pods are in, I have the porch on order, with the door, to give us some more space.
We did buy some sturdy pegs, so they weren't a problem.
Over all we are really impressed with this tent and would recommend it to everybody, I think it would be great for two people with lots of living space and using the end door plenty of space to put bikes ect, you could use the two pods and have four in there, or as we did with all four pods. Well worth the money

Well what more can I say than we love it. We have only recently bought this tent after looking at hundreds(or at least it felt like that). We have been away a couple of times now and cannot fault it at all, it was warm dry and most of all spacious. The only thing I was going to fault it on was the fact that if you only wanted the large bedroom up that you could not do it on the far side to be able to put the main door open but after reading other reviews we have worked out that this is possible you just take no notice of the colour coding.
The tension band system is fantastic as well, no problems at all well recommended.

I love our Tigris 800! After looking at & stepping in & out of what seemed like hundreds of tents, we stopped looking the day we saw this! The living space is fab for the four of us, but we have also had 8 of us in there, & there was still plenty of room The versatility of the sleeping pods is great;, if you don't need all the pods, it gives you a huge living area. The side exstension, (with a door) came as part of our package, & this is great for keeping the cooking/kitchen equipment in, & also somewhere to take off wet clothes if needed - although it (the extension) doesn't have a ground sheet, and the door is 'flappy' which I thought was just the way we put it up, but we've been back to the shop where we bought it from, & it's the same there! There's plenty of storage pockets in the main living area & also in each sleeping pod. I also like the fact that the ground sheet can be dropped down by the doors which means no tripping over!
We've used our Vango a couple of times now, but the last trip we had some heavy wind & rain & the tent stood up well to the test, & we were really warm & cosy. We have got quicker each time we've put it up (even in the tail end of a hurricane!), & putting it all back gets easier each time, and we managed to get it all back in the bag - no problems! All in all a fantastic tent, well worth the money, although what we paid for it was great value, we are now looking into getting the tunnel extension for the other side, & the carpet (everywhere we tried had sold out due to this tents popularity!) We can't wait to go on our next camping trip.

I bought it because of the space and flexibility and the easy erection. I took it out August 1st 2009 for 1 week in devon, on day 2 one of the tension bands ripped away from the side while we were out (apparently the wind got up a little bit), that night it rained and it leaked from the centre tension strap fixing point. As some of the other reviews have stated the ground sheet is very tight and the material panels are baggy, when I returned home I contacted my supplier and he kindly sent it back to vango for repair which was done and sent back to my home address in 10 days, they said there was no sign of a leak but they have retaped the seam anyway as a precaution.
I have just returned from a bank holiday trip to Scotland which was wet and windy, I am very disappointed with the tent as two more tension strap fixings failed at the side and it leaked again at the same point. The tent is very unstable in lightish winds, the sides flap about making so much noise you can't sleep, a family member came with us using a vango venture 500 which I have owned for eight years and no such problems,( I also own a colorado 600DLX which I've owned for 4 years, no problem with that one either). I wil be getting in touch with my supplier again and hope I can get a refund,
All in all I am very disappointed with the quality and design of this tent and would recommend anyone thinking of buying one to stay well clear. In the future I will consider other manufacturers as the quality of this vango is poor to say the least.

We bought this tent in an emergency following the collapse of our decathlon model. The tent was fairly easy to erect but the first sign of poor quality was immediate when the tent poles were not all strung together. 1 hour later and all was well. The tent was warm and cosey inside compared to our previous model which did not have a sewn in groundsheet. But more things want wrong. 2 of the metel cleats into which the tent poles slot ripped away from the tent and an internal strap maintaining the arch of the poles ripped from its fixing. Lastly the door zip failed but I managed to get it going again using force.
After 3 nights it was clear the tent was sub standard so we took it back to the shop (Oswald Bailey)in Poole to get a refund. To thier credit the retailer accepted that the tent was defective and gave me a full refund. I am now in the market for something that can cope with British weather but is roomy and easy to erect. The review section here is a god send but I am surprised that this tent is rated so highly when our experience was so poor. Perhaps we just got a duffer.

I purchased our Tigris 800 in May 2009. I bought this tent for the size and for the features. Before we went away we did a practice run in the garden and discovered that following the Vango setup instructions was awful, so we worked out a better way. Put the poles through the guide holes until they are central, then both of you insert the pins together. This seems to put much less strain on the poles and the guide fabric. We then secured one end and spread the tent out.
We have now taken the tent on 2 trips. The first one was glorious sunshine and no rain, and you really appreciate the ventilation on the Tigris, still got very hot inside though. The 2nd trip was the real test, a real battering in Cornwall where we were on the receiving end of the remnants of Hurricane Bill! Well the tent stood up to it, but we did get a snapped pole section on the end facing the wind, soon replaced by the local camping shop. Luckily we didn't rely on the pathetic tent pegs that are supplied with the Tigris, as others have said these are a joke, my kids could bend them. We purchased rock pegs which played a major role in keeping the tent where it was. Vango, please supply decent pegs, it's worth a few quid on the price surely? We also found, like others, that the ground sheet wouldn't touch the floor at the entrance as it seems way too tight there, despite several attempts at moving supports.
Overall? Well the space is wonderful. On the 2nd trip we met up with another family we know and there was ample space in each pod for 2 people easily. There were 7 of us in there on the last night and there was never a cramped feeling, quite the opposite. No rain got in with a couple of days and nights of very wet weather. You soon appreciate the storage areas, (which we kept finding more of). We also like the fact that you can put the pods where you like or just put one or two up. Overall very happy with the tent, it survived an absolute battering and we lived to tell the tale. It only loses 2 marks because of the laughable tent pegs, otherwise I can't recommend it highly enough.

This tent is a great design and really big but we have we are just about to send our replacement Tigris back. On the first tigris one of the tension straps came away from the side of the tent on a test run in a friends garden.
The replacement Tigris had a hole in the ground sheet, a ripped seam in the pole bag, and holes in the mesh around the main door and one of the bedroom door seams.
The ground sheet around the door would not lay flat when pegged down, putting a lot of strain of the groundsheet door corners which would eventually cause the floor to rip. The tape on the floor around one of the loops to secure the bedroom was coming away from the floor. The zip on the main door kept popping apart and one of the tabs to hang the bedroom was poorly stitched and coming away from the seam.
We were recommended Vango by friends and our friends Vango tent seemed to be of a much better build quality. To our minds and other experienced campers the fabric was ill-fitting and bagged and pulled in the wrong places, also causing one of the poles to split.
We are really disappointed because we went to great lengths to look at all the reviews on this website. We won't be getting a Vango replacement and neither will our friends be buying another Vango after seeing the problems we have had with 2 Vango Tigris 800 tents. A real shame and we look forward to hearing from Vango when we write to them. Thank goodness the supplier of the tent has been amazing and even couriered a new pole to us while on holiday.

Have camped all my life in smaller tents. Now having a husband and small boy, with all associated junk and comfort that we now want, I chose this tent although I was torn between this and the gelert horizon 8. Not been disappointed. Love it and all it little bits including footprint and carpet. We call it the house extension. I have just four small niggles.
1. Tent pegs need I say more.
2. The dvd shows you how to put it up and instructions on the bag do the same. How about showing how to get it back in the bag instructions.
3. Love the mosquito net on main door but needed them on the other two doors or able to buy as accessory as my little boy reacts badly to them and in France he was massacred.
4. The pod layout needs to be the other way around so that you can use the big door on the end.
Apart from these small niggles which I will find away around some way we love it Had 2 trips away, one in UK, other in France and both unequivocal successes in a portable 'hotel'.
I would Like to buy the extension but bit worried about reports saying some of the guys that go over the tent are short. Will have to look into this. Have recommended this to quite a few friends looking to upgrade.

Just returned from our first trip in our new Vango, which we bought to replace an old Outwell which we had grown out off as a family.
Really REALLY impressed with this tent. Very easy to put up. The basic tent went up in about 15 minutes. Took longer for all the ropes and inner pods, but no problems at all. We've also got the tunnel extension which I'd recommend as it provided a really useful space.
Loads of room inside, and my 6'2 husband could walk around in comfort.
Our one (very small) niggle was that unlike our previous tent, the doors didn't zip up across the bottom. The ground sheet folds up, and then the fly overlaps it on the outside. This wasn't a problem at all until in the middle of the first night our dog realised she could wriggle out of the tent, and we had to leap up and rush out to call her back. From then on we barricaded the doors with bags and chairs overnight and she was fine.
All in all, an excellent tent and great value for money.

After returning to camping after a break, we considered just about every 'family tent' on the market and eventually settled for the vango tigris. We have 3 small children and this fits the bill. Each of the kids can have their own bedroom, and there is plenty of living space in the middle. We found it straightforward to put up and take down, with 3 kids running circles around us, literally, and generally 'helping' it wasn't too bad. Our package included the tent carpet and footprint, an absolute essential in my opinion. Plenty of nifty little storage pockets, and two doors, one on each side so you can get a nice breeze through the tent when it's hot. Very pleased with it so far, even managed to get it back in the bag!

It took me a long time to finally decide on buying this tent. I looked at a lot of others but my wife was obsessed with being able to stand up in the sleeping pods and this was the only one in our price range that offered this.
I had never put up a tent of this size before though I have had two previous vangos and I was pleasantly surprised as to how easy it was to put up we did have a little trouble getting everything square but after a quick re-jig we had all the zips working fine by far the most time consuming part was detangling and putting out of the guide ropes there's loads of them! Though it does help with the stability it's pretty solid. Once the fly was up we had no trouble in getting the sleeping pods in.
One feature both me and my daughter really liked was all the little storage pockets they are great for a three year old to make sure every single one had at least one thing in. Thankfully we didn't have any rain on our maiden outing so we don't know how she'll hold up to the usual British weather but I'm confident it will be fine.
There are one or two little niggles though we found a small hole in the 4 man pod and another in the ground sheet and I don't know if it was just me but I nearly went A over T more thane once in the sleeping pod the floor was so slippy but all in all have to say this is a great tent well worth the money and should stand the test of time.

Have just come back from 3 days trying out this tent with my two kids aged 12 & 8. Very impressed indeed. It took me (female, forty and blonde) and my 12 year old son only about 45 minutes to put up from start to finish. Got a bit worried that the poles were going to snap as we had to bend them so far to engage them, and when we practised in our garden one of the metal collars actually split, but the supplier sent a free pole repair kit containing spare pole sections and elastic as well as a bit of wire to thread the elastic through. I recommend everyone gets one of these kits, as it gives you a lot more confidence that you're not going to get stranded.
In four days I don't think we found all the storage pockets, but the kids had great fun looking. I agree with everyone that the large end door is a waste if you have all the pods up. It really needs to have a door that size on the side, as you would still have a smaller door on the other side.
As there were only myself and two kids we actually put the large pod at the far end, regardless of the colour coding, so we could use the large door, and there were no problems at all. A few more hooks for lighting etc would have beed appreciated, and we did find ourselves abusing the TBS straps for hanging things.
The little pole which fits over the side door worried me a bit, because it seemed to be under such tension that I thought it might go through the fabric, and it distorted the door a bit for closing, so we didn't use it very much.
On the night it rained the tent held up well, with no leaks, although you have to remember to make sure the bottoms of the doors are outside the groundsheet.
Generally, very happy with the tent, particularly as it went up so easily.

Just come back from 3 days camping. We used our new vango Tigris 800 and was impressed by its size I would have given it a 10/10 but it was missing a d ring and the hanging organizer (only little issues but when you spend £240 on a new tent you expect everything to be intact , we went to were we got it from and they contacted vango who are sending the missing items to us)ps. A tip when pitching first time open the doors and release the tension straps before pitching as to avoid tearing them away from tent. It stood up well to the elements but boy did we struggle to get it back in its bag , sorted it now after many attempts trying and numerous arguments .All in all a nice tent

We purchased this tent after much deliberation, as it was to be our first camping trip with the three kids.
Only our second attempt putting it up and it took 35-40 minutes.Nice and easy.
Great spacious tent and coped well with some strong gusts and the overnight downpours.
Downside. You must bend the poles slightly inwards when erecting, otherwise it puts a strain on the ground sheet.
When we got home and erected the tent to have an airing, one of the poles snapped. I think that you need to have the tent scrunched up first to get the pole through easily.Maybe, perhaps, to be sure I really don't know! If anyone knows for sure please let me know!
All in all happy with the tent.

This new tent is an upgrade from a domed tent with pods, we were a bit unsure of a tunnel tent but the reviews we looked at seemed so positive - we are very pleased with the new tent. DVD said 20 mins to put it up and we definitely had what looked like a tent in less than 20 mins, the ropes took over 30mins but over all it went up easily, quickly and smoothly.
We bought the footprint, extension & carpet with this tent which all worked out very well. The footprint helped us to decide the exact position to pitch in before we had poles and canvas to move about! My husband used the extension as a kitchen area and it was big enough for that and more. The carpet felt lovely and made the tent feel so cosy and warm.
Just had 3 nights to trial run before a big holiday in August and everything about the tent worked well, we had 3 kids & 2 granparents and still it seemed very roomy, there was plenty of living space even with all the bedrooms up.
Highly recommended.

This was a fantastic tent just don't expect it to stand up to the British Summer.
On the plus side this is a huge roomy tent with lots of nice features. We took it to a music festival and despite mixed weather conditions it stood up well remaining waterproof throughout. The multiple bedroom arrangements very handy. I really fell in love with this tent but.
On the negative side 3 of the poles snapped on erection (winds gusting to 30mph) and the whole tent collapsed when we were packing up trapping my 4 year old within. Then a gust of wind tore one of the groundsheet seams. Vango reckons we were camping in extreme weather (July on the Solway coast) and will not honour any guarantees. £250 down the pan for a week old tent.

Have just had a week away in our new tent. Spent a lot of time deciding on which tent to buy and brought this one when at nec show in march. We checked other tents and it came down to between the kyham or this.We chose this because of the canopy over the side door which the kyham didn't have.I agree about the end door as this is where the double room goes(only found out after putting small rooms there and noticed coloured tag hidden in roof ),but still kept to how we had it set.
We purchased the footprint which was great for positioning tent and also when we packed away as dry bottom of tent, carpet for that extra bit of comfort and the side extension. On the one were supplied the guy ropes which go over the top of the tent do seem too short but we managed and looking on peoples photo ours does not have doors,we have the olive colour, but was great as we done our cooking here.
Having the drop down flaps on the doors floor area was great so you dont trip entering the tent unlike some that you have to step over and having the sewn in ground sheet kept the wind out.
The week we were away we had all weathers and it stood up well to them all. The idea of having the windows cover on the inside was good as it them meant no tripping over guyropes in night when you forgot to close them before you went out.
Erecting the tent didn't take that long, just the finishing with all the guy ropes and moving a couple of them when we put the canopy up.
All in all a great tent with loads of space and plenty of headroom.
Our only problem being that one of the single pods zips fabric has split and with the door canopy the pressure on the side of the door zip was to great to close smoothly so we took this frame out.Have spoken to suppliers and are now swapping tent no hassle(Thanks yeomans)so hopefully next time no problems.
We have had no problem with tent pegs due to soft ground but they still will be upgraded.

We have just got back from a very windy 2 weeks in Cornwall and the Tigris held up reasonably well to the gale force winds that we had. Although on some occasions I did wonder if it would hold up but it did. I purchased this tent in May 09 and also bought the porch extension. A must in my eyes great for cooking and changing out of wet clothes. Downside to extension it really isn't designed for strong winds so we had to take it down a few times.
We also have a Vango Aspen 700 DLX which is outstanding compared to the Tigris. The Tigris has an amazing internal space is easy to erect and is reasonably lighter than the Aspen I just didn't feel I could trust it in strong winds even with the internal storm straps. That said We have decided to keep it and use it for long weekends.

We bought our Tigris 800 this year after reading the reviews on this site, sharing an Outwell Hartford XXL and trawling the camping shops to see similar tunnel tents erected. To say we agonised over this would be a huge understatement! Anyway, we settled for the Tigris as we liked the headroom in the bedrooms and living area and the flexible bedroom options suited our family (2 adults, 10yr old boy and 12yr old girl who both need their own room).
Having used the tent 3 times now (once on my own with the kids) it's got easier to put up and down every time. We are down to less than an hour to fully erect and guy and 15 minutes to put down and pack. I've had no problems with getting the tent back in the bag - having read somewhere that its better to fold than roll the tent, this seems to work very well. If you keep the 4 corner v pegs in when taking the tent down it keeps its shape for folding even in windy weather.
Using the tent is great, there are loads of places for storage, its warm and stable in the wind and easy to keep aired due to the good window system and door arrangement. Like other reviews though, I'm not sure what use the end door is if you need to use the double bedroom. We use that room with the divider rolled back and it provides a huge amount of space for a double bed and dressing area screened from the rest of the tent.
Just a couple of minor niggles: we had a tiny pin prick hole in the ceiling above the central fastenings for the TBS that had escaped the seam tape. I contacted the supplier who were happy to exchange but asked if I would try a dab of seam sealer first - did this and it has solved the problem perfectly.
As stated by other reviewers, watch the toggles on the threshold when it's pegged up, we pulled one too by tripping over it but easily repaired.
We would have liked a porch too that fits over the side door, although not sure if we'll go for the Vango one. Have seen this fitted in a shop and it didn't look that great - will probably buy the one that fits over the Khyam or Gelert tunnel tents.
Will mention the pegs as everyone seems to. The v pegs are weak but no weaker than I've seen supplied with other makes. I would recommend buying some stranger ones though as they do bend over themselves.
All in all though, we're very happy with this tent and would recommend it without hesitation for its value for money, practicality and easy of use.

My partner and I have just purchased our first tent (the Tegris 800) and took it on its first outing this weekend!
It was blowing a gale when we had to erect it and that did slow us down erecting it (even though we had practised; definitely worth watching the DVD first!) We used the tension straps during the night as the wind was so strong; but the tent was solid and stood up well to the wind.
On the second night I rained very heavily and again the Tigris didn't let us down, the water beaded off the top and was warm during the night!
The space inside is amazing and the head room is great in the bedrooms and living area. We entertained 6 people to a sit down meal inside the tent whilst we were away and even with a large kitchen unit and fridge there was plenty of room and not at all cramped!
Would definitely give the thumbs up for this tent - however like everyone else has already said make sure you buy some spare pegs as they are the only bad point I can mention.
Definitely worth shopping around as the price varies - we picked up ours for 200 pounds.

We have just used our new Tigris 800 for the first time and I am absolutely thrilled with it. We are camping novices and even we found it easy to put up. I wouldn't like to do it on my own though - I think it's too big for that. My husband and I took less than an hour to get the tent into position and I then left him to do the pegging out (lots of guy ropes!) while I put the bedroom pods in. In total it was about 1.5 hours from start to finish but I'm sure we could easily cut that in half with more practice.
Inside there is loads of room and the space is really flexible. There are three separate pods, but the biggest pod can be further split down by using a divider. That just rolls back if you don't want to use it. We used the big pod for sleeping and one of the smaller pods for bag storage. We then left the third pod out and used that space as a dining area.
We bought the carpet too, but our dog has managed to pull out lots of threads with her claws so will make sure they're well clipped before we go next time!
We paid £250, which seemed like an excellent price compared to some of the other tents we looked at.
It is great quality and has lots of nice touches like pockets for storage. The groundsheet is fully sewn in, which I like as it keeps it nice and dry and crawling bugs out. One word of warning though, do make sure that you unclip the bit by the door before going out (it folds flat) - I didn't bother in the early hours of one morning thinking I'd remember to step over it, but of course I didn't and managed to break off the toggle.
All in all, a wonderful tent. I would have given it 10 out of 10, but like the other reviewers have said, the pegs are rubbish! The V pegs in particular are far too flimsy - couple of bashes with the mallet in the wrong place and they closed up on themselves.

I am so pleased with our Vango tent. It was easy to pitch and so versatile. We put the big bedroom pod at one end and used a single pod for a toilet / dressing room and this still left room for the kitchen stuff next to the pod by the big back door and allowed for a HUGE living area in the middle. I was impressed with the price and that king poles were included and loved the storage pockets. They were extremely useful. We had no rain to test us and so I can't comment on that but I do know we were snug in our beds and it was very easy to air the tent in the day.
The only reason for not giving this tent a 10/10 is that the pegs were a bit rubbish (we bent two and the ground was not hard at all) and that one of the tensioning straps came off on in my hand when I was helping to put it up. The tent has been returned to Vango for repair without a quibble though so I think we were just unlucky. We bought the carpet and the footprint and I am glad we had these as they did add to the experience. I want the tunnel extension now!

We recently up graded from a Vango Orchy 600 to the Tigris 800 and I love this tent.
We've used it twice now and it's taking us about 30 mins to put up between 2 of us. We bought the tent as a package and had the footprint and carpet included in the price, I would recommend both products also.
Plenty of space inside (but there are only 3 of us and we only use 2 of the 4 sleeping pods!) and the amount of storage pockets inside are plentiful. I especially like the way you can use the larger front door (if you are not using that area as a bedroom) as a sun canopy. This is especially useful if it is raining as I took out the cooking equipment and cooked under cover, away from my little one.
Great headroom in the main area and in the sleeping pods. The TBS tension band system really helps to strengthen the whole tent. As everyone else says, the pegs that vango supply are appalling!
As with all tents we have to battle to get it back in the bag, but what's new there?!
I would recommend this tent.

I purchased a Vango Tigris 800 tent due to the information on the Vango website, as it seemed high quality and as my wife is not into camping I thought this would sway her to try camping to show her the fun she is missing.
Well it didn't work she still doesn't do camping, but I took my 3 young children on my own but was worried on how I would manage putting the tent up.
Well what a surprise from a novice camper, I managed to erect the Tent within 1 hour without help. It went up easy but would recommend having help if possible.

Just returned from our first trip in our Tigris 800. We spent many weeks looking at various tents before deciding that the Tigris was best for us in terms of layout and price.
We found pitching the tent straightforward - we bought the footprint groundsheet and this was invaluable in deciding where the tent should be placed on the pitch.
Pegs as mentioned in previous reviews are a bit flimsy and we'll be replacing ours before the next trip.
It took us around an hour to get the tent up along with the canopy - but most of this time is spent on the guy ropes. The tent itself goes up in no time at all. Once up my wife was impressed with the amount of storage pockets! We were still finding them after 3 days! The amount of space inside is impressive as well and gave us as a family of 3 lots of living space even when the weather was too bad to venture outside.
I couldn't quite see the point of the end door - if you use more than 2 bedrooms then the door would never be used and I can't see many people buying this tent and not using the bedrooms.
The canopy we found invaluable and would certainly recommend this. My only criticism is that the guy ropes are too short for the part of the canopy which goes over the top of the tent.
All in all a great family tent which in 4 nights withstood 30+mph winds and heavy rain with no damage or leaks anywhere. Very impressed!

This tent is perfect for us. We are a family of 4. The tent takes us about 45 minutes to put up (we are getting faster each time) It is easy to erect (well worth watching the instruction dvd, we didn't the first time and it slowed us down). It looks nice and is very sturdy. I love the storage compartments as I don't have to scrabble around on the floor searching for stuff. I think it would definitely benefit from have a porch area attached but this is the only extra it needs. I agree the pegs are a bit rubbish. There is plenty of room inside and it is very light and airy. Definitely worth every penny. We bought the footprint and carpet which make it really comfortable. Would recommend 100%

I owned a trailer tent but sold it last year as I was fed up of falling out with my husband putting it up, I cant begin to tell you just how easy it was to erect the Tigris 900. I was also very impressed with the living space loads of room for everything a family of 6 needs especially when 4 members of that family are growing boys.
We also researched on the net and walked the camping shops in and out of tents and when we saw this one up in one of the shops we knew straight away it was the one for us due to the sheer floor space and great value for money.
I have to agree though where the pegs are concerned though they bent virtually as soon as they touched the ground.
Apart from that I loved my Tigris 800 and look forward to lots of trips over the summer.
I would highly recommend the Tigris to anyone

We're just back from our first weekend in our new Vango Tigris 800 and we're very happy campers
We've put a lot of thought into our new tent, I've read loads of reviews, looked a what seems like hundreds of tents, we finally settled on this and we couldn't be happier. We came close to spending £500+ on a big Outwell tent, but in this tent we saved a lot of money and I think get a tent just as good.
On the Plus Sides :
It's very easy to put up, took us about an hour first time, but I think we'd have it down to a half hour in future.
It has a huge living area, we comfortably sat with 7 adults and 3 children one morning inside the centre.
There are different layouts and entrance doors to set it up with: We put our daughter next to us and our 2 sons the other side and used the other room as a dressing/ clothes room, which was great as you could fully stand up in it.
It's not that expensive, we paid £250, a lot cheaper than other tents of a similar size.
It stood up to some strong winds and heavy rain without any trouble.
There are loads of handy storage compartments.
On the Down Side (these are very minor points)
You have to duck your head to walk in, only slightly and once your in there's all the room in the world.
There's no porch area, again it didn't bother us, but if it had an entrance porch it would be the ultimate tent.
On the whole we would recommend this tent to anyone looking for a good size family tent.

First outing for our new tent which, within the space of a few days, was subjected to different types of conditions.
The proposed pitching time of 20 mins (even after a few practice pitches) still seems a little optimistic and we think 30 to 40 mins (including inners) seems a little more realistic.
Living space is good even for four adults, two large dogs and quite alot of kit. Eight would be 'cosy' but of course you still have the bedroom areas which can be adapted for your individual requirements. We purchased the tunnel extension . A word of warning here though .Make sure you get the correct one that fits where you expect it to .And this provides a great cooking and 'wet' area without taking away internal living space.
We also used the matching footprint and carpet to protect our investment.
The first day was quite warm and the opposite doors provided a nice through put of air , with the ability to open the 'end' door to really air the tent through.
On the second day came the wind (very gusty) and rain , but it stayed dry and stable, although the inners seemed to 'flap around a bit' for some reason, probably just due to gusts through the vents. Dried out well and relatively quickly though.
Loads of storage pockets, drop flaps at the entrances a nice touch as we always manage to trip over them when up, but a few more hanging points for lamps would have been good though. The zips can get caught in the protective flaps though so don't be too quick with them, and get into the habit of running a forefinger in advance of the leading edge to prevent snagging.
My only real gripe and it's not really aimed just at the Tigris 800, as the windbreak , canopy and another make of toilet tent suffer the same problem is the supplied pegs .Why oh why do they supply pegs that a one year old could bend . The ground we pitched on wasn't even hard but a slightly mis-placed hit with the mallet or indeed pulling them out results in a banana !
The 'V' pegs are rubbish too as all you end up doing is closing the head up around the plastic 'D' rings which makes un-pegging a hassle.
I am sure Vango are not alone in this department though . So get yourself some decent standard pegs along with a selection of rock pegs and delta's.
All in all a very flexible family tent, and we are currently looking into getting a complimenting Tigris 400 for just the two of us.
Nice Job Vango . But please sort out those damn pegs !

Just used this tent for the first time, and our first time putting up a tent of this size. So easy to put up and very roomy. Lots of storage space and different set ups for the doors which is fantastic for windy / rainy days. Bedrooms very large and if you only use one side of the bedroom pods the living space is fantastic.

This fantastic new invention turns a can of drink into a sealed bottle, protecting drinks from being spilt, keeping out creepy crawlies, and keeping fizz in. They are a must for any camper or caravanner.
The Vango Yukon range of tents has been replaced by the Vango Tigris range - which in turn are very similar to the Nevada Range already produced by Outwell. The Tigris has a very simple 5-pole fiberglass pole structure but one that gives great head height and therefore one that gives a light and airy feel. There are also flexible bedroom arrangements and storage options a plenty plus three entrance options. The tent frame is constructed with Powerflex fiberglass poles, a Protex 3000 Polyester flysheet (3000mm hydrostatic head protection) and as is the norm these days, the groundsheet is fully sewn-in to keep out unwanted pests and draughts. The other key features of the tent include a waterproof exterior storm skirt, flysheet first pitching, 2+2+4 (with divider) sleeping compartments, colour coded poles, TBS tension band system for extra strengthening in adverse weather, 10,000mm HH internal polyester groundsheet, cable entry point and tidies, mesh double doors, mesh vents, pelmet and inner tent pockets, 'Crystal Clear' windows, double zip windows (for vent/light/cover flexibility), breathable fabric inner tent, inner tents and divider can be removed when not in use, parallel zipped front door can be used as a sun canopy, canopy over side door, rain gutter zip covers. Saddle bag and repair kit included. Flame retardant throughout.
