User Reviews of the Eagle 8

This is an additional information after 2 years use of the Eagle 8. Still Impressed with the tent. After a heavy downpour, we had in the mid main roof area a pool of water 6 inches deep and it didn't leak. That was impressive. After dispatching it with a broom we expected some leakage. Nothing! These tents are a miracle! I agree with Arabella B. Sleeping 8 is pushing it 6 would be appropriate but still, the living area is so large you could put another tent up in it. Pity they do not make them any more! I also concur that the foot print ground sheet takes time perfecting. I would have given it 10 stars if a fully sew in ground sheet was fitted. Still, what I paid for it was a bonus so shouldn't grumble.

I too purchased mine from Norwich Camping and Leisure in July 2009 and paid £147.00 which was a fantastic bargain! We struggled the first time that we erected the tent as we did not understand how to secure the main steel poles (it is a ring and pin system, but there were no specific instructions for those who had not come across this system before!). However, a fellow camper came to our rescue and once we understood how it worked we were away! It took us 1.5 hrs the first time, but by the second time we were down to an hour.

It took me tree attempts to get the groundsheet the right way around and I have yet to align the central inner peg with the middle of the inner tent! (This is not a problem by the way, just annoying to a perfectionist!). The tent packs away easily in two separate compartments (one for the flysheet and one for the two inners and the groundsheet)and has a separate (double) bag for the poles which are very heavy!

There is loads of space inside, but I am not convinced that you could comfortably sleep eight people (at least I wouldn't want to!). We sleep four with loads of room and the living space is brilliantly large with a porch option too. I think that this tent is fantastic and at the price that we paid a real steal.

I was fortunate to purchase this for 169.00 from Norwich Camping and Leisure. Lots of tent for money, high spec. Loads of living space if weather inclement which seems to be a feature of the family sized Aztec tents. Very heavy tent due to steel poles for main living area. Separate bag for poles pegs etc. Two people can put the tent up if not too windy otherwise four people may be required. Flysheet first then footprint groundsheet followed by inner tents. Can take up to an hour and half with two people to be fully erect with all guylines but extremely sturdy and worth it. Two side doors and and end door (this can be raised on two poles for a canopy). Windows in doors and front quarter panels plus skylight, all with built in polyester curtains. Good ventilation throughout. Hydrostatic head 4000mm. Have had eight people sitting comfortably in living area and still plenty of space to move around. In the summer the flysheet can be used as a party tent with just the footprint groundsheet and omit sleeping pods. Cathedral like space. This model has now been superceded by the Canterra but if you can get your hands on one, well worth the money. There was an Eagle 10 in the range sleeping 10. Same layout as the 8 but a larger living area.

This fantastic new invention turns a can of drink into a sealed bottle, protecting drinks from being spilt, keeping out creepy crawlies, and keeping fizz in. They are a must for any camper or caravanner.
