5 Reviews of the Georgia L Dome Tent

We have used this tent over 2 seasons now and are impressed with it it easily accommodates us (2 adults and 2 kids) along with all the usual gear we need, in bad weather we have all happily spent time in the main dome with plenty of room so we weren't on top of each other. The front porch is ideal for leaving dirty boots/shoes in which means the main tent stays nice and clean. Its also handy to cook/ sit in in bad weather and still be able to see out. A fab tent would recommend easy to put up

We've used this tent a few times and love it, it's especially good for longer holidays although we've used it on a weekend too. Love the fact that it has an inner and an outer flysheet, this helps reduce condensation. It is vast inside, 2 bedrooms can easily sleep 4 (or more!) in each, though we are only 2 adults 2 teenagers. The living area is great and the porch is a godsend for keeping cooking equipment, drying the dog and keeping shoes etc. It means the living area can be kept clean and tidy too. In bad weather the porch is good for cooking in too. We survived a summer storm in this tent(aug 07, photo upload is of the tent after that storm). Other tents were flooded out but we stayed warm and cosy in our Georgia.

Bought this tent in January to fit use on our summer holiday, for my family of six (2 adults+4 children). Had a dry run this past weekend and have to say: this is a fantastic tent. The inner dome feels like your inside the Taj Mahal, without the ornate decorations. Rained one afternoon and our boys (x4 - 2yrs to 15 yrs) entertained our neighbour's children (x2 - both 10 yrs old). All in the dome area, on the carpet, with me, in a chair, sitting comfortable next to them.

Slept fantastic. I also loved opening some windows and closing others to create different lighting, inside. The skylight, the little pouches, the ease of setting up the tent and taking it down again . All very pleasant. Sleeping quarters are supposed to house 4, but we could only fit three air beds, side by side. The only real minor point for me, was that there weren't any instructions how to refold the tent again, so it would fit as easily in the case as it had been, when it arrived from the shop. We got it in, but it did require some pushing, shoving and sitting on it.

We bought this May 2008 for £269 as was last years model. We did find it difficult to pitch at first and still find it difficult to line up the seams on the flysheet. The last time we pitched it in very windy conditions we pegged down the inner tent before threading the poles in and found it much easier. We have used it about 6 times this year and can now pitch it in 30 mins (2 adults + 2 children) and are really pleased with it.

Draw backs are that you have to be careful that the inner tent is not touching the flysheet, especially in rainy conditions.

Not many hanging loops for lanterns etc - none in the sleeping pods.

Could do with a small canopy to put on the front door as in heavy rain the porch area gets v. Wet. I have been thinking about buying a vango diablo canopy (£19.99) as its about the same size tent and seeing if that would help.

Really impressed with this tent, not bad to put up,handy porch area for cooking ,dirty boots and storage, big living area, bath tub ground sheet is a real plus. The one negative is the size when storing but the pluses far outweigh this.Would recommend this tent

Manufacturer's Description

The manufacturer has advised that this model has been discontinued.

With no changes in for 2008, the Outwell Georgia Tents are still probably best described as a Hartford/Diablo style tent but with larger bedrooms and a larger porch area courtesy of an extra pole in the rear of some of the bedroom areas and an extra pole in the porch area. Taking the Outwell Georgia L tent, this is a 3-room dome tent with two large master bedrooms (potentially sleeping 8 (4+4) at offset angles (you'll need the Karma Sutra as a guidebook) at the rear of the tent. The living space is truly enormous and this feeling of space is emphasized by the headroom in the master bedrooms provided courtesy of that extra pole mentioned earlier. The oversize front porch has enough room for everyday living and negates the need for buying a porch canopy, while the all-around windows will still give you that feeling of 'being out there' even in poor weather. The groundsheet for the living area is fully sewn in while the groundsheet for the porch area is a detachable 'bathtub' style. The frame is made from 11/12.7mm Durawrap fibreglass poles with 19mm steel poles for the porch area and a set of 2 upright steel poles to prop open the front door.

Other features of the Outwell Georgia L Tent include; inner tent first pitching; mud valance for the front porch storage area; detachable 'bathtub' groundsheet for porch area; an Outtex 5000 flysheet (a fire retardant polyester based material of 5000mm hydrostatic head) double stitched with taped seams; nylon wheelie bag; O-shaped stowaway inner tent doors; No-See-Um mesh; adjustable pegging points; lamp holder; internal pockets for storage; Outwell doormat; skylight window; pre-attached luminous guylines with retainer system; Cable entry point; low light windows; Vent-View upper windows; the Outwell Dry Zip system; power cable entry point; complementary temperature gauge.
