Brilliant tent - value for money. I've used it all over the country including storms on the Isle of Skye which it coped with no problem when lots of others were packing up in the middle of the night. Nice and light - easy to put up and take down quickly and packs to the size of a sleeping bag. Recommended!

Keep all cycling gear in porch, sit up and read inside, plenty of room for 2, probably 3 at a squeeze - oh what fun that would be - great tent, light enough for 2 to carry between them on bikes. About 3.8k without case.
Doors on both sides make for easy exits without climbing over the other person, pockets insides to store all valuables, up in minutes, very waterproof as it poured down all one night.
Also very windproof - camped on North Yorks Moors in a real gale, others struggled with their tents, we didn't.

Great little tent - bought it from GO for eighty odd quid, a real bargain. Goes up in five mins, really well thought-out design, very stable in high winds & blizzards, 100% waterproof so far, plenty of room inside. Only problem is the flysheet could extend a little further to give better protection to porch area - when we woke after blizzard in the above photo we had a snowdrift in the porch. Covering our kit.
Our own fault, and pitched with the porch end facing away from the wind (which is what we do now) it wouldn't have happened. Would definitely buy Coleman again on the strength of this tent.

Excellent tent. We use our Phad 3 for just 2 people, which gives us lots of space for us and our bags. It would be a bit cramped for 3 people for more than one or two nights though!
The porch area is large for a tent of this size. I agree with other reviewers that the inner could have done with being about 20 cm longer, but if you put it up really carefully, and make sure to tighten all the straps at the corners of the inner, you will get the maximum length out of it. I'm 5'9' and have only had slightly wet feet / end of sleeping bag once or twice when I've been on a real slope and have slid down into the end of the tent.
This tent is really solid even in strong wind - I use it in winter on Dartmoor. It is very easy to put up with 2+ people, and also possible to erect quickly on your own in strong wind. The pegs may look a bit flimsy, but they have never failed me yet.
The tent goes up outer first, which is useful for keeping the inner tent dry in bad weather. Ventilation is good too.
All in all a great tent.

Owned this tent for over a year now using it mainly for short weekend breaks. Got a real bargain at £80 from Go Outdoors, which is a deal I've never seen since.
The tent is light, very quick and easy to erect and looks great. The inner tent could do with being longer and if you are above 6 foot then you may have problems. You will fit in but your feet will be against the inner fly sheet. I have been in some very strong winds, and this tent is as solid as a rock. There is a very small porch area for storing bags, cooking equipment etc, but its a bit too small to actually sit in.
All in all a very good small tent that will withstand the worst British weather no problem. Might be a problem for taller people but definitely an alternative to similar Vangos.

I had one of these as well.
It has a very good feel to it: Feels very sturdy, and due to the three crossing poles, it really is tight and well trimmed. Very easy to erect, you just stay on one side of the tent, push the two long poles through their sleeves, and they will not come out on the other side, but stay in the 'pockets' and the other end. Brilliant, simple and you wonder why other manufactures do not have this system.
The only thing I thought was really disappointing is the length of the inner tent. (I measure 1mtr80,( less than 6ft)) It is 2.10 mtr, but the back of the tent is sloping, so you loose some space there. Very very pity. That is the reason I sold my tent, the idea of waking up with my feet against the inner and flysheet, soaking wet, is just too unpleasant.
If only they had made the tent 20 cm longer. They would have had a winner.

I purchased the Phad X3 with the concept of using it to tour on my motorbike, it's small pack size and weight making it an ideal choice. Unfortunately this has yet to be confirmed. But I'll keep you informed.
As a total novice to camping, (other than my formative years ridge tenting on the back garden) I found this a very easy unit to erect. The sewn in instructions were pretty much self explanatory and I dont doubt I could have sussed it without. Three poles with colour coded sleeves.Simple.
Even my solo 'test pitch' times were reduced considerably once I'd developed my technique.
The Phad has great ventilation thanks to the well positioned outer vents, plus there's the option of Colemans 'Variflow System' and partial mesh door on the inner. As has already been mentioned, the tents colour aids in drying out any condensation you may experience quickly.
Though I have yet to test out the tent in extreme weather, the wind and rain I have encountered has proven no match for the Phad. Very sturdy and totally watertight.
On warmer days the 2 doors and zip open window, together with the vents, make this an 'airy' tent.
That's the positives, however I do have a few issues:
Tho never personally used, the OE pegs dont look substantial, yes it's about saving weight, bit in my opinion, could be questionable in adverse weather. I actually always use glow rock pegs, which accompany the excellent reflective guys and trim on the Phad (I guess I should have mentioned those in the positive aspects?)
No matter how I've pitched the tent, the porch ground sheet, if attached, always seems to protrude the outer. This can cause any run off to track back and puddle inside. It could be that the straps simply aren't long enough on my tent, but it has been an issue.
The only other item has been one of bed choice. Due to the tents sloping rear, I've found that if you're on a camp bed or inflatable your feet or head can force the inner against the outer, causing water to bridge. Not fun waking up with cold feet in a wet sleeping bag, and I'm only 5'7'. This, however would not be a problem with roll mats, thermarest's etc.Which let's face it, being a 'mountain'/backpackers tent, would probably be the item of choice. This isn't really a complaint, just what I've encountered.
All in all a great little tent (I think it's still my daughters favourite) only let down by the slightest of points

What a corking little mountain tent. We took it to Wales in a windy May 2009 and it was blasted by a easterly all night and didn't budge or bend. I agree with previous posts re the tent pegs, get some better ones! The tent is easy to pitch and the whole thing can be up in minutes. Colour coded poles adding to the simplicity. Just remember to push the blunt end through not the stud end!
Inside the tent is well made and brilliantly ventilated, having been used to waking up with a damp inner tent due to condensation, I was surprised to find the little Coleman was dry as a bone. I too bought the Phad X3 as a two person tent. It would be tight with three, but you could do it if everyone was slim! Love the dual sided porch and the zip off ground sheet in the porch is a fab idea. The 5000 groundsheet feels insufficient but it works a treat. I always tend to put down a twin under ground sheet to protect the tent anyway.
Love the tent - best buy in ages.

Bought for its light weight (for motorbike use) this is now our preferred tent for all use - we are going to get rid of our bigger Sunncamp and smaller Quechua.
Very easy to put up and get down(in fact easier with one person than two) - I agree with other reviewer that the 3-man is good size for 2, especially when using double airbed.

What an excellent tent, practical and easy to put up and take down(even after a few beers). It only has 3 colour coded poles that match the sleeves to put them in.
I would only use it as a 2 man as 3 would be very cosy, I always use the rule of thumb, decide how many people are to sleep in it then add 1 or 2 to it and that's the size of tent you need.
The tent has been used in some bad weather, last year we only had the 4 corner guide ropes in, when we had heavy rain and gale winds and the tent took it very well. I would recommend to use different pegs to the ones you get unless your a fair weather camper.
If your looking for a sturdy tent for 2 people that rolls up to the size of a sleeping bag and doesn't weigh much more than, then this is the one for you.
