This isn't so much a review of the tent itself, but Vango's excellent customer service. Our Tigris 400 sprung a leak during a rainy camping week last year on only its second outing. On our return, the suppliers only comment was 'Reproof it!' - not an issue with modern camping fabrics. However, when we approached Vango they were extremely helpful. They were interested in what we had to say, collected the tent and replaced it with the current model. Their feedback, help and general attitude has been really refreshing, especially Nan, May and Kathleen, and I would recommend Vango tents wholeheartedly! Thank you Vango!

We bought this to use as a couple as the Vango kura we have is to big for just two. Its very easy to put up, and for 2 the bedroom is ample - gives us lots of space around. Nice to have two options for entering the tent - side access and front. Holdall for tent good with separate compartments for fly, inner and poles/pegs. Overall very pleased with the tent.

Hi, I'm new to camping and I just wanted to add my review! I bought the Tigris 400 in February this year and its finally had its first outing. I bought this tent because it looked a good size for a family of four, 2 adults and 2 young children. But I soon realised that I wanted to add the extension. So that was bought as well. Our first outing in the Tigris was in Wareham at Pear Tree Park. We arrived 15/08/2011 til the 20/08/2011. Pitching the main tent and the extension was easy peasy and my partner and myself made quick work of bending poles, pegging out guy ropes and setting up. We felt like confident campers and eased into camping life quickly with our friends in the next door tent. The front enclosed extension was huge and became our segregated area for cooking whilst the living area was for chilling out. Being our first experience of camping in could get any better, no it got WORSE! We woke on the Thursday morning to find the groundsheet in the extension to be a flood. Yes, you guessed it we were caught in the Dorset Flash Floods. In half an hour, 2 weeks of rain lashed down and pummelled upon the tent and created a lake at our feet. I had to embark on a bit of DIY and use clothes pegs to create a bathtub with the enclosed extension ground sheet. Our friends and their children, my partner and our children and fellow campers came to help bail out the water with buckets, frying pans, saucepans and anything which carry water to the very nearby stream as it got deeper and deeper. Our friends gave us two choices we could give in and pack up or move pitch. We went with the latter and moved both our tents to higher ground. The Tigris really did us proud although a flood had formed around the extension and underneath the tent it remained water tight. No leaks, no drips and dry bedding. The children were able to stay in their beds whilst we helped our friends move their Outwell Glendale 5. The Tigris 400 is value for money and passed the initiation test of standing up to ULTIMATE weather conditions and came out still standing and drying out for another trip. This tent is ideal for a weekend but for longer trips as a family of four you definitely need the extension. My only gripe which I think Vango could improve is the extension ground sheet, I reckon that Vango should follow the Outwell innovation of a detachable bathtub enclosure.

First outing with new tent (bought in sale last year's model). Watched a video before leaving which really helped for the first pitching experience without looking like you had no idea what you were doing! This took 2 of us about 30 minutes but will probably get faster with practise. Very impressed with all the details - pockets etc. Have bought footprint and carpet so had a very luxurious first weekend away. Looking forward to many many more.

We bought this tent last year and have been numerous weekends and last year's summer holiday in it and are just back last night from 10 days in the North of Scotland so I feel qualified now to give a review. I would rather the SIG did not have flaps at the doors for ease of entering as it just lets the wind in. The biggest downside is that although the door has a mosquito net the big opening at the front does not and when the midges come out you cannot open the big door so you feel closed in. When we buy another one this will definitely be what we will look for. Other than that we have found this tent to be very good indeed.

We bought this tent to use for weekends, as a family of two adults and two children it is a perfect size. We like the fact that the bedroom has the roll back divider so it can be two rooms or one in the sleeping area.

The tent was easy to pitch and is bright and roomy enough to ensure that you don't feel closed in even in bad weather. The tent appears to be very well made and sturdy. The sown in ground sheet and large flaps at the entrances keep the tent bug free (big plus as I hate spiders). Will definitely be planning lots of short breaks this year.

My own main criteria was could I put this tent up by myself, because my wife has developed problems with her hands and arms and some days would not be able to help. Could I do it ?

I took the plunge and paid £119 delivered for a 2010 Tigris 400 in the sales. This is not a lightweight tent and my trepidation increased. Having said that it is not quite as heavy as the Outwell Virginia 5 I just sold, nevertheless I would not like to have to carry this tent very far from my car boot. The weight though is all in the very solid poles and groundsheet, and in the two steel canopy poles that are provided.

Could I put it up myself. To my very great surprise it was as easy as can be even on a windy day, in fact the wind behind the tent helped to erect it. Took no time at all, and I did not struggle once. I pegged out the rear, then inserted, curved and connected the poles whilst the fabric was lying flat and pulled the front pole gently, up came the whole tent in a moment. I pegged out the front and that was it, end of fears and apprehension.

The quality of this tent is superb, not a manufacturing fault anywhere, really high quality 3000HH flysheet, zips and doors. I was surprised at the significant difference between this and an Icarus I briefly owned and returned. The Tigris is stable and quiet in wind with the Vango TBS system connected inside, it is spacious and very comfortable to stand in. The doors are very big. I wish the bedroom were a little longer for six-footers like me but as there are only two of us we can sleep sideways on with space all around.

Highly recommended, and at £119 or anywhere near that, this is unbeatable value.

Decided finally to take the plunge and buy a tent. After much research we opted for the Tigris 400 as there are only two of us (and maybe our 5yr old granddaughter occasionally). Exceptionally pleased with the quality of both tent, footprint and carpet. Quite a cold weekend but we were very cosy no draughts. Have yet to experience rain though!

Had one outing so far with our 400, very easy to pitch only one comment to make so far, they do not make an extension canopy in Zinfandel. Very disappointed with this as it would give that extra space for kitchen equipment etc.

I purchased the Vango Tigris 400 in August after being in a friends stand up tent. I wanted something I could stand up in as I'm getting too old to crawl in and out of my 3 man dome tent. I was looking for something where I had a living area for me and the missus if the weather turned bad and we could sit and stare out of the doorway in the evening when dining.

The first trip out was fantastic. It was straight forward to put up without even looking at the instructions. The fibreglass poles were quite thick and heavy and took 2 of us to bend them into an arch (1 on either side). I'm not quite sure how some people have managed to put this up on their own. Probably lots of practice. The footprint is recommended as it maps out the tent on the ground and also keeps the SIG nice and clean for packing away. Probably took me 30 mins to put the whole thing up including all the pegging of the guylines without a mallet!

We went camping with friends at the beginning of September and with six of us and one child playing cards in the living area at night sitting on the ground was quite fun.

For the 2 of us the bedroom was fantastic and we had a double airbed and suitcases on either side with lots of room to throw our clothes and other things about.

As we had the larger tent all our friends moved all their equipment and cool bags into our tent at night. Pockets were very useful for placing mobile phones, keys and smaller items.

It got very cold one night and I think there may have been some frost but when the front door opened all the condensation disappeared in minutes and the whole tent dried rapidly.

On a down side, the bedroom definitely needs to be removed for repacking as I could not zip up the saddle bag with the sleeping compartment in the tent. I ended up just clipping the straps together and sorted it out when I got home.

I am a very proud owner of this tent and am very happy with the warmth the tent provided at night compared to other similar tents without a SIG. Very pleased overall and can't wait for the next trip.

We bought this tent in 2009 and have used it plenty of times. We managed 10 days in the Lakes when the weather wasn't so good and the tent stayed nice and dry. There is plenty of room for 2 adults and 1 child, and found the side door with the canopy over of great value. Have used this tent in strong winds and it stands up to them very well indeed. The only thing is that we bought it in the Zinfandel and Mocha colour, and I would love to have a canopy to go with it, but unfortunately Vango do not make them in this colour.

Excellent Tent.
