We bought our Voyager 6 from Go Outdoors when it was on offer earlier in the summer. My husband managed to erect it in the garden on his own and found it to be huge even though there was much swearing in the process! We also bought the carpet which adds a touch of luxury. I wanted to buy the footprint but when I went to buy they were, and still are out of stock.
Unfortunately, while on the trial run in the garden, one of our cats went mental and proceeded to run right over the tent, leaving little holes all over it! Nightmare and we were devastated. We went out and bought some tenacious tape and patched up our poor tent!
We went on our camping trip this week filled with trepidation as to how it would perform.
The tent was easy enough for two of us to put up and we had the whole shabang up in just over half an hour. The living area is huge which was a real bonus for all of us, including our two children who had the space to play. The bedroom area has plenty of space and we could have fitted two double inflatable mattresses into the larger bedroom area. The only downside with the bedroom pods is that the 'walls' hang down a bit and can get in the way. However, the storage pockets were a real bonus as were the electric cable holes (one either side of the tent), and the velcro on the roof which we used to hold a string of lights.
Those of you still reading this will be pleased to know that we had one night of very heavy rain and the tent did a magnificent job of staying watertight - even with the repairs! So full marks on that score. Only time will tell if the tenacious tape will live up to its name.
Overall we are really impressed with this tent for the price. As in other reviews I've read the doors do tend to let in water when opened as they just flap inside the tent, but this is a minor gripe really.
In time we may add a porch to our tent but definitely want to get a footprint or the equivalent as it's difficult to source, as already mentioned.
We are camping again on the 31st September so we will see how the repairs hold up!

We love this tent. It is easy to put up (I am a novice camper, short, not very fit lady who has put this tent up by myself), two of us can have it erected and pegged out within 35 mins but more experienced campers can probably do it in half the time. The ring and pin system along with colour coded poles make it very easy. The instructions which are stitched into the bag so you cant loose them are clear and easy to follow.
There is plenty of room for our family of two adults and two children to sleep and play comfortably. We get one double, one large single and two standard single airbeds in the sleeping pods.
The tent has withstood gale force winds and rains (that saw many others wiped out) without a scratch and has not leaked at all. We have experienced condensation in the tent but it has plenty of ventilation, and the condensation soon dried when we opened the front door. Having two doors, one on the front and one on the side is handy when it is raining as you can use the door which is not directly in the in the way of the wind blowing the rain in.
There are electricity entry points on both sides of the tent with handy velcro ties for wires and plenty of storage pockets, both in the sleeping pods and the living area.
Lots of windows make the tent light and airy.
We have the footprint and carpet which I would recommend for a lovely cosy tent.
The only negative thing I can think of is that the porch for the Voyager 6 has sold out and wont be back in stock till March at the earliest. I have been told other porches will fit this tent but I havent tried any.

Having finally persuaded OH to camp, we went to our local GO to get an idea of what sort of tent we would want. Whilst there, we saw the Voyager 6 and OH liked it a great deal for several reasons; he is 6ft 3in tall so firstly could stand up in the living area, the bedroom areas were nice and large (there are only three of us), it was a warm sunny day and the tent was well ventilated and didn't feel as hot and stuffy as some of the other tents on display, and finally the price (we got it for £145). The added bonus was the porch which is huge and creates a very large kitchen area or adds a lot of other living space. The carpet makes the tent feel warmer and more cosy and there is enough room for a boisterous four year old to play in if the weather is being unkind.
The tent was easy to pitch (neither of us have camped in some twenty plus years)but both found this straight forward and easy to put up. The poles are colour coded as are the clips for the inner so it really is very simple. The hardest part is getting the tent back into the bag at the end of the break (but that is one of life's great mysteries) and with plenty of shoving, squiishing and squashing we managed to squeeze it in.
I would recommend this tent to anyone who is looking for a good value (keep checking GO because the price changes a lot depending on the sales offer) family tent.

Just returned from 4 nights at Cayton Bay village campsite, used our Voyager 6 and porch - Absolutely fantastic tent!
Loads of space and head room, easy to pitch and put away. Its design means its very stable in the wind. We had some terrible weather building up to the bank holiday - not one drop of rain got in the tent!
The porch is a great addition, giving loads of extra space. We zipped the whole front panel off when cooking in the porch, still had room to put the table in there when it was raining!
Its well vented, although we did encounter a little condensation - but I put that down to cold nights and four of us plus border collie inside!
A great tent, with loads of space - excellent value for money and the porch is a great add on!

Easy to put up, secure, large living area, did not experience the same sort of rain issues as other reviewers that don't have porch, we don't have one and it was simple to just shake rain off the door before going in or leaving the tent. The ground sheet is well sown in, there are 2 entrance points for electric lead, no problems with this tent.

Haven't been camping in an age, and with two kids (4 & 2)we decided to give it a try. I looked at loads of tents, but the combination of space, features and price made me choose this over the Vango Samara 600. I bought mine as an ex-demo off Ebay and it's like new, no problems at all. Easy to put up and take down and with the carpet was nice and warm. Small bedroom bit disappointing as it's a squeeze for both kids but the large bedroom is brilliant for me and the wife.
Had lots of rain this weekend, but the tent shrugged it off and dried out very quickly in the wind when the rain stopped.
Highly recommended. Now if only I could find a footprint and a reasonably priced canopy!

After researching via the reviews on UKCampsite, UKCampsite forums and talking to friends, I narrowed my prospective purchase list down to the Voyager 6 or similar sized tents from Gelert and Vango. Went to Go Outdoors in Coventry to see a few of them erected, and the Voyager 6 really caught my eye. My initial impression that the design had been well thought-through has been confirmed by using the tent.
Attractive pricing helped - got the tent, footprint and carpet for £180. Watch out for Go Outdoors special offers.
First trip was last week, just myself and eldest son (aged 4). A couple of trial runs in the garden before we went - instructions were easy enough to follow, the poles are colour-coded which helps. I've done a reasonable amount of camping in small dome tents over the years so had some idea what I was doing. Bearing in mind my son couldn't do much beyond holding poles and banging in pegs, I reckon it took an hour from unzipping the bag to the tent being up with carpet down and bedrooms in.
Site was suffering some pretty strong gusts of wind on arrival. I was concerned that we'd struggle as my son wasn't able to hold poles up as he'd done at home. In the end, I pegged down the windward side of the groundsheet, got the two main poles for the central dome in and guy-roped them to hold them up, then carried on from there - seemed to work ok! This does seem to be a very stable tent.
I'm 6'2' and can stand up easily in much of the tent. Plenty of space for our gear, son was very pleased to be able to make a 'den' in the smaller bedrom and slept like a log. Larger bedroom is a great size for double airbed plus bags. Not sure that the tent would be particularly comfortable for 6 adults, or even a family of six, but plenty big enough for the four of us.
I'd recommend the carpet, made the tent very comfortable. One edge of it got wet when we had the door open in a sudden shower, but most of the water lifted out with kitchen roll and it dried quickly after that.
Plenty of ventilation but sensibly positioned so it's not draughty.
Got it back into the bag easily afterwards - as I'm sure others have commented, leave the doors open, fold it into one long section the same width as the bag, then roll it up around the pole bag towards the doors so the air gets squeezed out.
Only (very minor) problem - a couple of the ties to hold up the mesh doors hadn't been stitched in particularly well and came away from their mountings. Took approx 30 seconds with a needle and thread to reattach them.
Looking forward to a second trip in our Voyager 6 in the very near future.

I bought the Voyager 6 as I wanted a tent with a bigger living area. I had had a Mojave previously and liked it, so had no doubts about trying another Hi Gear tent. It was very easy to put up and my sister and I managed to put the tent up quite quickly - even I was surprised! The space that we had in the tent was great and even in the heaviest rain, there were no leaks at all. We did cut our camping trip short due to high winds. The tent had blown in completely on one side, losing it's shape and leaving the double sleeping compartment unusable. One guy rope had ripped off the tent, however we were lucky as none of the poles had snapped. I am hoping that the guide rope can be repaired as I do like the tent and hope to use it again.In more sheltered sites!

Decided we wanted more room than a 4 berth tent and went looking in Go Outdoors for any special offers. This fitted the bill perfectly. Bought the carpet as well.
Used it for the first time last weekend.FANTASTIC. Extremely easy to put up. Even managed without a trial run, how good was that?
Loads of room inside. Weather was good, but could have coped with all sorts as more than enough space inside. Used side entrance for the cooking side, just opened the flaps and away we went. No moving stuff outside.
One of us is well over 6', and we could stand up easily, makes such a difference.
Removed the middle partition in the large bedroom section meaning we had a super double room; used the other section to store everything. Particularly liked the storage compartments, great for putting all those little bits & bobs.
An absolute bargain and we cannot wait to go camping again. Hoping for loads more weekends with good weather, although this tent is suitable for inclement weather, we are definitely good weather campers :-)

This is the first large family tent that we have owned.
We were very happy with it, it's got more than enough room for me, my husband and our daughter.
Took about 20 mins to erect, although the instructions aren't the best we are not new to camping so sort of knew what we were doing.
Had lots of rain and wind the first night and the tent didn't leak at all, plus the sewn in groundsheet kept all the wind out and made sure that we were always cosy.
Overall a really good tent, only marked it as a nine due to the instructions.
