We picked up our Taal 8 on eBay at a decent price and have been generally very pleased with it.
As with all these things fitting 8 people in it would be a squash. There are two bedroom chambers with a flysheet divider that you can put in and I'm sure that you could fit two double airbeds in to a bedroom but there wouldn't be any room for anything else.
You need a pretty big space to set it up in as the main poles are very long and the tent is 6.8m by 3m so it's a pretty good size.
The pack that it comes in is brilliant and you can easily get the tent back in again without too much re-folding etc. It's also sturdily put together and there are a lot of nice touches to ensure that everything is where it should be.
There are two doors allowing you to really open the tent up in good weather and the high dome means that there is no problem standing up when you're in the living area of the tent.
Other than that it does what it says on the tin - a big tent at a reasonable price. It survived a very serious thunderstorm just last week and we hope to have it for a long time to come.
If there is a gripe it is that if you do have all the doors shut to keep the rain out there aren't many options for getting light in to the tent. Plus there's no easy way to suspend a light from the central point.
But if you can find one for a reasonable price then I'd have to say that it's well worth it. A well designed, spacious tent.
