Morning all, Long time lurker and first time poster here looking for some advice from more experienced Pennine owners.

We are considering updating the canvas on our 2010 Pathfinder from the old brown canvas to the new Acrylic. We are looking at purchasing a second hand acrylic canvas which is a 2015 year. Does anyone have experience of this era of canvas? are there any issues to be aware of as the acrylic gets older?

All replies gratefully recieved.

Hi there. I no longer have my 2015 Pennine Crusader (Pathfinder), having swapped it for a pop top caravan last September but having used the Pennine for several years in all conditions, I can give you my experience.
My 2015 model had the Isabella Isacryl fabric rather than Isatex which you may read about and the latter which some describe as having a more 'plasticky' feel. I found the Isacryl to be a thoroughly excellent tent fabric and I didn't experience any condensation issues that you may read about even when heating (electric) the interior - I guess sensible ventilation helps in that respect.
I found the fabric to be hard wearing through quite significant use here and in France. Following rainfall, most of the water simply shakes off and I used a telescopic handled flat microfibre floor mop to quickly clear excess water from the roof before folding away for travel. In short, the fabric dries very quickly indeed and there were several occasions when sharp showers occurred on the morning of moving on but this presented far less of a problem in practice than I always feared. In addition, muddy marks, bird droppings etc clean off easily.
I have owned many cotton tents and awnings in the past and although I love the smell and feel of cotton canvas, I would choose Isacryl every time for a folding camper.
If you are buying a used canvas, check the sewing of the pole ties and/or zipping sleeves in the roof as these have been known to come adrift and will of course leak. They are easily repaired but need to be done before fitting your canvas.
Best regards, Steve
