What is the best type of TV to buy?  Do we opt for an expensive 12 volt or do we get a "normal" tv and an adaptor.

Any-one know the pros and cons?

well what i will be doing is running a normal tv via a power invertor then i will let mt generator recharge the leisure battery. Or you can always look araound for a 12volt jobbie

We bought a 10.5 inch digital/analogue/ flat screen/ mains or 12 volt from maplins. It was 189 ish. It is a lovely little set and we have used it when we are in an area with reception. Picture is fine. We needed a tiny tv as our van is tiny and this comes in a nice useful storage box that contains all the bits and pieces as well and it can be stored easily and safely.

They also sell them a bit cheaper if it is one that has been returned as unwanted, they are fine and all checked over but a bit cheaper.

I think we may one day invest in a good tiny outdoor aerial but for the moment the set one is OK.

We bought an Avtex 19" LCD 12 volt tv/dvd/cd combi from Transleisure at the York show. We decided upon this 12 volt TV due to it being specifically aimed at boats/motorhomes/caravans etc and has been designed to cope with voltage drops in your leisure battery. If you are always likely to use EHU I would think any normal 240 volt tv would be more than satisfactory and a lot cheaper too but as we often wildcamp and rely on our leisure batteries for power we felt this model may be more suitable for us. I am no expert on such matters so have relied on the experts to advise us but we are very happy with our new television and it worked fine all the time we were at York even though our battery level dropped quite low at one point. For anyone interested in the Avtex range of 12 volt telelvisions see this link:

We have a 12/240volt colour tv we are selling along with our folding camper or it could go seperate. Our is operated from an aerial but it also has a scart connection and could be connected to a digi box.

The 12 v lead plugs straight into a cigarette lighter socket or a 12v socket.

It is a Thompson as I recall and made in France.

I have no idea on value.

Ted

We bought one for our nipper campervan (which is tiny) from Lidl. its a kitchen flip donn Tv digibox radio and dvd player in one. Its great!! We run it off the inverter when we dont use sites. Dont think they sell then now but we got it for 149 and they had then in again a few months ago for 99. Bargain!! Keep a look out you never know what offers are on. I think Netto were selling similar the other week for 79.
