As probably the only Atrai owner on this forum I feel duty bound to post a reply!
We got our Atrai from Wellhouse Leisure who had converted it into a campervan (they specialised in converting imported secondhand Japanese vehicles but are now moving over more to converting new UK vehicles as they are finding it harder to source secondhand vehicles from Japan at a resonable cost due to the exchange rate etc).
Anyway, they supplied it with a proper printed English owners manual for the Extol van, which was actually on sale in the UK for a few years and I understand was the van version of the Sparky/Atrai - I suspect it was branded as Extol just in the UK as I have never found much reference to it anywhere else in the world. It might be worth you contacting Wellhouse as they obviously had a stock of these manuals and they are unlikely to need many more as they only have one or two Sparky/Atrai/Extol conversions left in stock. If they can't let you have a manual, it might be worth trying some ex UK Daihatsu dealers, as although Daihatsu have withdrawn from the European market for new vehicles they still have the dealer network listed on the Daihatsu.co.uk website. If you do contact any dealer in the UK they will only know it as the Extol van so don't confuse them by calling it Atrai or Toyota Sparky - they won't have heard of it! About the only people in the UK that do know what the Atrai or Sparky is are Wellhouse or the local Daihatsu dealer/service garage near them that we have to ring if we ever need any special spare parts - they are the Hepworth Motor Company and they are very helpful.
I don't know where else you have tried but there is a Daihatsu forum website in the UK and also in Australia. While Australia and New Zealand seem to be where a lot of the Japanese vehicles end up I don't know how common the Sparky/Atrai would be there. Certainly in the UK they aren't common like say Bongos etc. As far as I'm aware if it hadn't been for Wellhouse bringing some over there wouldn't be any in Britain.
Wellhouse also supplied the Atrai to us with a service booklet (which is actually not that useful) with their own cover on but it says in the back that it was produced by JPNZ International as a translation of the original Japanese one (website here) who looking at their website do translations of loads of Japansese manuals into english. Might be worth seeing if they can help?
If you really can't find any other source I might be able to do a copy of the Extol owners manual for you but it would take a while to get round to as there are quite a few pages. If I did do it it would be as a PDF file I could email to you, but I'm not making any promises as there would be quite alot of effort involved.

Hi Evenstephen
That was very kind of you and very prompt to answer. Thanks and lot as you gave me many instances where I can try to obtain a copy of the handbook. Thanks again and best regards. Perhaps sometime you may visit Malta with your Motor campervan. I'm sure it will be a great experience especially during May and June.

Best regards again

I've been looking at campervans and as a single person really like the look of these but wondered what the insurance was like. ? I just did an online quote which came up at over 2k with Adrian Flux. This was as my only vehicle. I'm a newbie with regard to campers but have been doing extensive research for several months now. Any advice would be great thanks.

Hi joems and evenstevens!
I am new to the site having just bought a atrai7. I have all ready done some work on my camper. I am an engineer by trade so if you have any problems I maybe able to help you.
I am planning on travelling across Europe in my camper and was wondering if I could get a manual of you?

Many thanks

Hi, I was rather relieved to find this forum as I've just bought a Daihatsu Atrai and have been searching for an owner's manual in English.

Evenstephen, did you ever make a copy of the manual? I'd be happy to pay for a PDF or printed version. Please let me know. Many thanks.

Hi, I just got a fairly good quote from Lloyd Latchford http://www.lloydlatchford.com for 550. It was the best I could find. Most were coming in at over 800. Best of luck, I just got my Atrai 7 and am so happy with it.

Best wishes, Dolma

Hi, Adam, long time since your post. I've just bought an Atrai7, -- since you offered technical help - where are you -- I'm in N. Yorkshire.   Trying to source owner's manual - or for Toyota Sparky - same vehicle. Are you still out there?

Adam, thanks for reply! amazed after all this time since your last post. Manchester is not far for me to go from Skipton, where i could find some way to photocopy, or more sensible - you photocopy and i pay the cost? If you've something on a computer, could you e-mail it? My e-mail is sonofpincher at gmail.com.
Have you still got your Atrai? Dont know much about mine yet, its being delivered Monday.

Thanks in advance.

Suggest you contact Hepworth Motors at Holmfirth. They supplied me with the Extol manual, which covers the Extol minibus, which gives you everything needed for the Atrai - except it does not include my 4 wheel drive version, or much about the autobox. Cost me 20. Hepworth are good, helpful, and friendly. Good luck.
I would like to share experience with the few other owners out there - mine is 2001, and just passed its MOT.
