Hi peeps,

I am currently with C&CC and have been a member since 2009.

I am about to switch unit from a tent to a camper van later this year, and am wondering whether to stay with C&CC or switch to C&MC (formerly CC), or join both.

I shall be camping on my own with my dog, and would prefer sites that are not in the middle of nowhere without a soul in sight for miles, with facilities such as hot water, flushing toilets and EHU, and Wi-fi or good mobile phone coverage as I shall be working from my van during weekdays.

Just wondering if I should switch or join both so as to widen my choices of Certified Sites/Locations etc...

I have searched and could not find any recent threads on this subject.

Thanks for everyone's advice in advance.

Try both and see how you get on .We where with both and now just the C&CM there sites are best for us

Am same been with CCC for years, joined both this year to compare myself.
At the moment i have found that club sites are both on the high side in high season, but saying that i got an affiated CMC site £80.00 half term in October which i think was good for 5 nights.
It may well be me that i will pay £100 plus at the coast, but not in my home county of Derbyshire. See it as a rip of, but i suppose its not a rip off!!
Its just that your mind cannot justify it lol.

CS or CL. Still exploring this side, but at moment i would say CCC are winning on price. Are they the best not sure yet?

I have been in both clubs at different times over the years.
The C&CC is OK bar for one thing.
Their pricing structure.
It’s so much for the pitch and that alters dependant on month or school holidays .
Then it’s so much for grass or hard standing
Then it’s so much per person.
Then It’s so much if you have an awning.
Then it’s so much if you have a dog.
So you see. It’s “To much. To much.”
C&MC slightly better.
Prices alter but tend to be grass or hard standing and includes two people.
Both Clubs tend to be over priced for their Club sites.
You can find better commercial sites cheaper.
You pays your money and makes your choice.

I like the pricing structure for C&CC and other sites that charge per person or offer single person discount as I camp on my own.

Looks like I could be joining C&MC to see what they are like for at least a year or so.

I think you may be looking at it the wrong way! To me it is the location of sites and their proximity to towns or public transport which is important and from that stand point both clubs has an advantage. I don't think its either or. We belong to both despite using far more CMC sites.

They are both good and I think CCC is better for foreign travel whereas CMC is better for insurance.

As to their sites nowt to choose. We’ve been members of both since we started Caravanning. We use a fair spread of main sites and CL’s / CS’s. Aside from one bad experience due to a prat of a warden at a site in Surrey a few years ago we’ve never had any problem.

We are members of both but tend to mainly use CMC sites. There are some great CCC sites and some poor CMC sites but overall, we feel that the standard of CMC sites is better. The main reason we keep our CCC membership is because of the 2 sites they have in Keswick. We need a site within easy walking distance of Keswick for a week every summer in order to attend an event there and the CCC sites are the most convenient for that. If it wasn’t for that, we would probably give up our CCC membership.

However, we have noticed over the past few years that the price for sites for both clubs has risen quite a lot, especially in peak season. I am tempted to have a look at some commercial sites this year which seem to not be so expensive, to see what they are like!

We are members of both clubs but can't see the point of paying silly money for club sites, we use CLs and CSs, nothing wrong with them.

We are C&CC members and I don't remember ever getting charged for our dog or our awning. The prices include two people, and I don't think they give a discount for one as you are still occupying a pitch, as far as they are concerned.

The main thing I don't like about the pricing structure is that they have a mid-season which isn't that much less than peak season prices. Our holiday times always work out to be in mid-season, despite the fact that we avoid school holidays.

The lovely private site in Somerset that we spent two weeks on last year only had low and high seasons, and our holiday in the first two weeks of July was in their low season. Their high season only seemed to be school holiday times, all the rest of the year was low.

As for which club is better, toss a coin. Little to choose in my opinion and I have been in both at different times.

We stay with C&CC because more of their CSs have toilets, because some C&CC Members use tents which tends to mean no toilet. CAMC seems to assume we all have toilets & showers on board (or that we use them if we have them) so we found many of their CLs were a hookup & CDP & that was it. which doesn’t suit us. There’s a joining fee for CAMC too, which keeps you hooked in rather than joining for one year to use a particular site.
Looking at the Site Search map, neither club has sites in area we choose to go to - it might be worth testing which club has the most sites in the areas you most want to go to.

We are members of both and have been for years.Prefer C&MC as I prefer their sites but saying that we love the Keswick C&CC site.
