We have been camping in some form or other since 1973 the last incarnation being in a Autosleeper symbol. We decided earlier this month that now was the time to sell up. We bought the Symbol about three years ago from a dealer and obviously as a result expected to sell it for quite a a bit less. However we sold it privately for 1000 more than the price we paid which was about 3000 less than dealers are now charging.

Well done!

You have probably sold it at the right time due to foreign travel restrictions, resulting in an increase in camping.

It has been predicted that come next year, the market will see an increase in the number of MHs and caravans being offered for sale when the restrictions on foreign travel are lifted.

I'm aware of your football allegiance, pnefan, so probably best if you sit down before you read what I'm about to say, as it won't be anything you hear very often...

Supply and demand at play again. I heard from my father-in-law who just replaced his that campers and caravans are flying out of the lots.

Feels nice when you are the receiver of cash. Enjoy!

I bought a Romahome on a Daihatsu Hijet in February. I paid 2750 for it. I have turned down 7000 because I don't want to sell it. Regular prices are around the 5500-6000 mark. It is absolute madness just now.

Saw something on the net a few days ago which showed motorhomes 10-15 years old are selling for close to what they sold for when new.

Advice is to wait a couple of years and take advantage of these flooding the market as new owners realise its not for them.

A friend owns a used car and van business. A couple of years ago he had about 20 motorhomes and they all sold, but availability and prices are so silly now he hasn't bothered. He has less hassle selling older vans, which are also silly prices, to DIY converters.

For those looking to buy camper vans or any kind of camping gear.........hold off a year or so and there will be bargains aplenty when this year's new campers decide they prefer holidays abroad!
