Has anybody fitted the Dometic fan for the fridge, if so how easy was it?
I know there are other alternatives and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

We've had one fitted on our caravan, it was quite fiddly and the fridge had to be pulled out a minute amount to enable the fitter to get the plug into the connector on the back of the fridge. He also used a miniature camera to see exactly what he was doing. If we were away this weekend the fan would probably be working all day as it thermostatically controlled.

You can buy (fairly expensive) ones from Dometic or Thetford, but if you're inclined to do a bit of DIY, you can pick up a 12V computer fan and a thermostat for probably under 5. Depending on the van, you may be able to install it by removing a vent and working from the outside.

I did this on one of my previous vans - many years ago.

It was straight forward to fit the Dometic fan on my motorhome. I just removed the bottom external vent and that gave me access. No need to move the fridge or use a camera.

I also fitted 2 extractor PC fans to the top external vent. Again, easy to do. You can buy kits from Amazon that include clamps to hold the fans to the vent so no drilling required.
