Ah, we’ve taken the Motorhome around most of mainland Scotland & self catered in the Inner Hebrides, but there’s a HOLE in our mental map for the Outer Hebrides. Need to fix that!
(Partial to gravlax and ‘hot roast’ salmon…)
Those are great to see! Saw two otters within an hour’s walk of home during Covid, when we had to stay local & went exploring. There were TEAL on the pond too.
We have rafts of Eiders in our local river where it’s tidal. We have to keep the dog on a LEAD or she’d be in swimming after them. Bonny birds, Divers are too.
There is a SEAL colony on the coast just near us. There’s a small island (Piel Island) accessible by boat or a causeway when the tide is right, where they like to hang out.
I agree. It’s especially satisfying if you spot something RARE, like those Great Northern Divers, or the Short Eared Owls that come through our nearest nature reserve. Or even something unusual at the bird feeder.
