We use our full 90 days EU allowance during the summer months so do most of our UK caravanning between October and May. We’ve just been away for a week and have two more trips planned before the end of November. The only downside is the BILL for camping in the UK compared with abroad!
It makes your blood BOIL on site costs in UK, the max we have paid in Europe is 24€ We also like to use the excellent 'free' aires, some even have free 6amp EHU and toilets.
We tend to stay on Scottish SOIL these days because our small independent sites in the SW are mostly all £25 - the Club prices can be almost double that, crazy.
We do have a LIST of favourite sites that we tend to use at this time of year, but try to find sites we’ve not used before as well, as long as they meet our criteria!
We’re looking at going on a site with metered electricity for the first time soon - just hoping for mild weather so we don’t need the heating up high!
Our LAST site was new to us, albeit in an area we knew. Disconcerting to see the EHUs on 1m high posts, but we left in heavy rain before any risk of the site flooding.
Horrid drive BACK home late last night: dark, lots of standing water, vehicles passing at top speed with a trail of spray. A night to be tucked up snug indoors!
Can’t remember the last time I got the ingredients to BAKE a cake. A friend has Coeliacs so it’s a bit of a faff, though lemon drizzle cake made with mashed potato is delicious.
