Yesterday would have been 1 of the hardest days any family will ever have to go through. My thoughts are with you & kiss to heaven for Sydney Ariadne.
You have those wonderful memories that you were able to make they will be with you forever.

Maddie & family

Forgive me Mucker...Not on the internet much these days...But have just read (and cried) my way through this post...

Glad you got your wish to meet and bond with Sydney

Treasure those memories..

And be assured that I will be asking for the same grace strength and courage for you and your family in the coming days as was granted to me and mine in similar circumstances many years ago....

Love and respect for your courage in sharing this...I am sure it has helped others on here cope with their own burdens....

Jelboy.

Mucker:
late to this post but you are quite an inspiration. Your posts are so beautifully written and very emotional. What a brave family you are. With many thoughts at this very very sad time.

As we are amongst friends here...

As of last night, photos of our darling granddaughter (or at least a small number of them) are now wending their way around various webs of the world, for all to see... and with them, come certain comments from those not exactly in the know!
Whilst I really can't be bothered to reply to comments on on-line newspaper articles, be that in defence of, or support for, our daughter and her partner, I do of course feel comfortable enough to discuss such matters with my friends on here.

For the record, these photo's were initially taken, by a charitable organisation, for the sole purpose of providing our family with a private and personal record of the short but love-filled single hour our darling Sydney spent with us. Indeed some of the photo's taken remain so, of course.

However, should you happen across various on-line newspapers of late, carrying this article, you may well notice some comments (from Joe & Janice Public) that question the wisdom and/or purpose of allowing such photos to become public. That's understandable, of course.
But then also note further comments... Some say they never knew such a charity existed. Some say they so wish they had the opportunity to have had similar photos taken, when faced with equally tragic circumstances, in their own past. Indeed, some speak of much sadness and regret that they don't have such a record of their own little angels, and that such an opportunity has now passed them by for eternity.

I can assure my good friends here, that there has been no "contacting the press" by our daughter and her partner, at least not in the way one particular comment implied!
The facts are, the folk who took these photos... all professional photographers offering their skilled services for free under such circumstances... are not widely known about. Like any other charity, they need all the help they can get, to get their name out there, so that should any other parents go through such a devastating event, they will at least know they have the option, should they so choose, to have such photos taken for their own collection... to remain private or otherwise!!

Hayley and Kevin were approached by the charity "Remember My Baby" in the hope that they would help with such promotion. Naturally, their initial response was negative, as they too believed such a collection should be solely for us, and us alone.
However, over recent weeks, and after many hours of mental agony and much soul searching, they began to appreciate even more, the fantastic work this organisation does, and the peace they can and do bring to such families.

Be assured then, that the sole aim of this ultimate decision (to go public) is to promote the existence of RMB.
The sole hope, is that such an act will mean that, some day, somewhere, some other family may benefit from such a collection of photos of their own, should they have the misfortune to face a similar tragic event, and not be left with regrets... and an empty photo album!

I wish to add that there is, and has been, no financial gain by going public in this manner... just the thought that such a generous and selfless act (in my opinion) may just possibly help others, in the future, is reward enough for them both.
Having said that, the offer of a monetary fee for a full on "warts and all" story for the glossies and/or TV has indeed been rejected by Hayley and Kevin, even if that would have promoted RMB to an even wider audience. For now at least, they both consider that a step too far!
Whilst we (Muckerette and myself) had little input (and even less influence) in the actual decision to go public, under the circumstances, and for the reasoning behind their decision, we both fully agree and support them wholeheartedly.

Sincere apologies for coming across somewhat defensive, but thought it only fair that, as we are all friends here, that you at least got the facts, unlike Joe and Janice Public!

... On a lighter note... for those that may notice the bracelet worn by Sydney... each and every female member of the immediate family each has a hand made bracelet, of varying hues and colours.
Sydney's is made up of small sections of each and every one of them, and she has, of course, taken hers with her.
Girly I know, but hey, girls like that sort of thing, don't they!

Remember, this is between us... neither Hayley, Kevin, or even Muckerette, has any idea this whole thread even exists.
I fully appreciate that not everyone will agree with Hayley and Kev's decision to go public, whatever their reasons.
I also appreciate that by resurrecting this thread, I may well open myself up to uncomfortable discussion(s), but rest assured, I am a lot tougher than my words may portray, (Why, I once came second in a school ground fight back in the 70's!) so as long as no UKCS codes of conduct are broken, feel free to comment, should you so desire!
Equally, if you had already seen the article(s), made the connection, but felt you "didn't like to comment" on here, be assured it's not a taboo subject, as far as I'm concerned.

For those coming in late, please be aware that should you come across these aforementioned online articles, that the photo's mentioned above were indeed taken after my dear granddaughter had passed away, so may be upsetting... or even unsettling... to some.
As friends, I thought it only fair to warn you!

Mucker

Mucker, I think your family have all been so brave, and continue to be so by doing this.

I applaud the decision made to show the precious pictures of Sydney, as it was obviously a difficult one, but by doing so has made many more people aware of the condition she cruelly suffered from.

I don't think you will have any harsh words from anyone on here as many followed your thread. And for those comments you have talked about, that's their problem that they have little compassion or understanding and I would like to know how they would cope in the same situation.

Love to your family and I love the bracelet idea.

I read the article online before I went to work this morning and I made the connection immediately, but I didn't have time to find your initial post and bring it to the forefront. So I am pleased that you have.

The article was lovely and the photographs beautiful. We could only imagine how Sydney looked, but as you said after she was born, she was absolutely beautiful.
The photographs are something that you can all treasure forever.

I have just seen this thread for the first time - sorry for coming in late.

Mucker, can I just say how much I admire your family and think they're incredibly brave. I really hope that Sydney - wherever she is - will grow to feel proud of you all.

There aren't many things that make me - a middle-aged man with no feminine side - cry and laugh at the same time but your amazingly eloquent and heartfelt posts managed to do just that. It's heartbreaking to read what your family have had to go through, but at the same time heartening to see that you have all been there together and supported each other.

The photos are beautiful and I'd like to thank your daughter and son-in-law for sharing them. I hadn't heard of this charity but they're doing a wonderful thing.

And, I know I've said this on other posts but I'm so glad that this forum exists, that people such as yourself feel able to share such personal experiences and that so many readers offer such support. Thinking of you all. x

Mucker the article and little Sydney's photos are truly heartbreaking, but I fully agree with the family for doing it. I certainly hadn't heard of that charity but I'll say one thing, having done a bit research tonight they do a bloody great job at a horrible time for any family.
As for the comments, some people can't help themselves but criticise, but in the main seems positive. But my granny used to always say if you don't have anything useful to say, then don't say anything.
Many of the commenters would do well to follow that advice.
You have a lovely family there mucker and my heart is with them and their little angel playing in heaven.
God bless wee Sydney

Such a moving article, and simply beautiful photos. Very, very brave decision to allow them to be made public, and I completely support it. I'd never heard of this charity, but their work is invaluable. My thoughts are with you and yours xx

I'm 100% with you and your family. I was aware of these photographers and what they do is amazing. I read an article lately of a couple who had a stillbirth and were allowed to take their tiny angel home to have some very peaceful photos taken. Yes, it was challenging to see, but so intimate, so emotional, so loving.
The people who criticise are just challenged by it - I can't understand why they would disapprove of something that brings comfort in such a terribly sad time.

You've all been so brave. X
