Mucker, I cannot imagine the horrors you and your family have been going through these last few months. I am so, so sorry.

I do so hope you get the time with the little one you are praying for. Words are totally inadequate. Such sadness.

I had never heard of Edwards syndrome - what a ghastly thing and how desperately sad for you all. Thinking of you and your family today.

Oh dear, Mucker. What a sad and tragic situation for your family.

Your brave daughter will need all your strength and support today. I hope it will give you some small sense of wellbeing to know that so many of us are thinking of you and yours.

Hold on.

Just so you know Mucker, induced labour can be a long, long process and they might have to have several attempts to get things going.

Sending your daughter and family a virtual hug.

I can't begin to imagine what you and your family are going through, and I wish you all the strength you need to deal with whatever happens.

I truly believe that where there is life, there is hope.

The odds stacked against your precious grand daughter are huge, but someone has to be the one who defies all the predictions, and there is no reason for it not to be her.

Wow! Thank you all so much for your oh so kind words, and offers of help, good wishes and prayers.

I must admit, I had my doubts about blurting out such private matters on such a public stage, and indeed, some of my OP was written more than a few long weeks ago, and has been titillated since, until I finally gave in!

Yes, I did indeed feel better once I'd posted it, and now, after your truly helpful and thoughtful responses, feel even better still. So again, I offer my heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you.

Oh yeah... you no doubt want an update...

Well, as lidds0 hinted at above, today has proven to be somewhat of a non-event!

Our daughter is encamped in a rather nice, spacious, private labour ward (I think they deliberately avoid the main maternity ward under these circumstances?) with partner beside her in a reclining chair. Despite daughter having undertaken the first stage of being induced, I'd say they are both currently at the same stage of comfort and relaxation!
There were concerns that baby had gone breech, (not for the first time!), but a quick scan confirmed that this time, this was not the case, and in theory at least, all was ticketyboo.

Daughter is reporting the "odd, small niggle", but nothing relating to proper contractions, of course. When we left them a couple of hours ago, all were in good, positive spirits, with all signs suggesting nothing is likely to happen during the night, and that matters will of course, recommence tomorrow. (Should any alarms unexpectedly go off in the night, we can be there in 20 minutes or so!)

Back to square one tomorrow of course, but for now at least, there's a sense of calm and peace amongst both family and medical staff.

Both Grandad's have requested that all matters are sorted by 1pm on Saturday, as DCFC are at home at 3pm, and we are both Season Ticket holders, but somehow, I doubt either of us will be in the mood by then!
There'll be no work for us tomorrow of course, as per this afternoon, so we will no doubt be in attendance, or at least very close by, throughout the day. How long this calmness lasts is of course anyone's guess, but rest assured, as and when there are any developments, I will endeavour to update you all, subject to my frame of mind, of course!

Thanks once again for your kind comments and best wishes. I will hold on to them a while longer, if I may. And of course, if you wouldn't mind keeping those fingers crossed a little while longer, I assure you it will be very much appreciated.

Oh... and before anyone asks... no, we won't be going camping this weekend!

Fingers and toes crossed for you and your family Mucker, l have a sneaky feeling that your little one will hold on until Sat 8th, which would have been my daughters 37th birthday. Kay was always the first to get down to the delivery suite whenever a new arrival was about to make an appearence, and im sure that shes watching over you all with caring protective angel wings as you face this difficult time, and praying for the best outcome for this special precious little girl.

I have to admit that I was a "read and run" on your original post....found it very hard to read, then had no idea what to say...I still don't. Your whole family have been in my prayers, not for a miracle, but for the peaceful, pain free time for your granddaughter to meet her family, who already know and love her.
Take strength from the support offered on ukcs....a more diverse group of virtual friends I can't imagine, but from reading through the posts, what huge hearts they all have.
