another dog!

Just over a year since we lost our gorgeous Bailey, I know many of you on here remember him and his adventures. I miss him desperately and he will never be replaced, just as our previous dogs were not replaced by him. But, my house feels empty, I miss trips to dog friendly pubs for lunch, I miss walks in the park, basically I miss the company of a four legged friend.

So, this morning I have registered my interest with a local rescue centre, the same one we got Bailey from. In all honesty I'd love a puppy but working albeit part-time, doesn't really allow for that. Bailey was 6 months old when we got him. I work 3 days a week and come home for lunch every day.

We have so much love to give and there are so many dogs looking for a home, watch this space!

Good luck with getting your new best mate Tracy.

I could not begin to imagine life without my dog/dogs, they give you so much, and ask for so little.

I am sure you will get one soon. It will be a lucky dog with an owner like yourself.

Good on you getting a rescue dog! I volunteer to do home-checks for the shelter where we got our Benji. We have always had rescue dogs, and its always sad to have to say goodbye to them. Our Benji is 15 now so every day is a bonus I suppose, but it will greatly upset us both when he goes, just as it did with all the others.

Good luck in finding your new four-legged friend!

Colin

Hope you find a lovely dog. We still have Harry who is getting on now, he will leave a huge lab shaped hole when he goes. Charlie is about 10 and still on steroids after her recent illness, I just hope she will continue to be ok when she comes off them.

Sorry to hear about the loss of Bailey.

I still remember the pics of him at Fforest Fields by the lake. Such a happy and lovely dog!

Good luck with finding another dog soon!

As for myself, I am acutely aware my dog may only have another 3 to 4 years to go camping with me if I am lucky, and am determined to make the most of it while we are both physically able to do so.

So today we were approved to adopt this beautiful little girl. Her name is Pinto and she is currently being well cared for in a private dog shelter in Romania. We had to have a home check done, by video call in the current conditions, which was completed today and we were informed we had passed!

She has now been reserved for us and we just wait for the borders to open so that she can travel.

Great news, I'm happy for you! The rescue centre I do home checks for sometimes brings in dogs from Rumania, Spain, and various other countries.

Is now the optimum time to visiting shelters/breeders selecting a new pet? I would be surprised if it was on the list of 'essential things to do in a Pandemic'.

Sorry but bringing another dog into this Country, there are enough unwanted dogs in shelters in uk. Hopefully when we do leave Europe the borders will close and quaranteen will be brought back. And before you all jump on me, I as ex British forces had to put a dog through this it was horrendous for both me and the dog.He survived but was never the same.

Not taken this on lightly, done alot of research and spoken to others who have done the same.

I am well aware of the dogs in shelters in this country, all of my dogs (3 over the last 30 years) have been rescue dogs from rescue centres here.

You are entitled to your opinion, as am I.

Any dog rescued is good by me. All our dogs have been rescues too. The conditions some dogs have to suffer in other countries are horrendous and the rescue centre I volunteer for sometimes spends thousands bringing them back to health before re-homing them.

That dog looks fine and healthy Tracey, hope she enjoys a long and happy life with you.
