Here too: plenty of snowdrops showing white tips but we saw a variety with heads dropped & petals open today. Lovely to see! No celandines though.

Snowdrops in my daughter's garden flowering - coastal location, light sandy soil. I think they;re fancy ones as they;re quite a bit larger than the standard galanthus nivalis. Very cheering to see! She also has bergenia flowering. My garden's on clay, cold and claggy - and sodden at the moment.

Always edited for sloppy typing - when I spot it!

We had Daffodils coming up in my local park a few weeks back, think a hard frost did for them though!

I've got a 'confused' Honeysuckle in my garden, still got a lot of berries, but they are being covered up by prolific spring shoots!

My Hebe is in full bloom!

When you can comfortably stand in the garden at Midnight (letting the dog out for a wee, just in case you get strange notions!) in just a T-shirt around Xmas time, is it any wonder nature is all over the place!

Just seen the floods on the news, worst on the Severn since 2007 apparently. We went to Ironbridge a few years later and were talking to a man with a house a long way above the river who had been flooded in 2007. Also saw flood marks at a boathouse near Tewkesbury. 1947 was bad but 2007 higher.

A bit alarmed about you wearing “just a T shirt” but I guess it’s ok if the neighbours can’t see….
We have a hebe in bloom too - but it’s never stopped flowering since we got it in autumn; we have to replace several big hebe bushes that died in Jan 2023 after being waterlogged then frozen hard for several days.

There's always one isn't there!
Just to allay your fears/calm your imagination Fiona (if you have an imagination like that, you're a naughty Lady!!!), I was innocently referring to the lack of need of a jacket, jumper, or other layers of insulation! All propriety was maintained with traditional lower attire - with the amount of CCTV cameras overlooking gardens, I'd likely be a star of some form of social media otherwise, with someone like YOU commenting "that's a long T-shirt, but not long enough!" no doubt!
Now behave

I was getting worried about the lack of referral to your undercrackers, I must admit. Hope it didn't scare the foxes..

Chuffed with the birds in the garden & at the feeders. Apart from the usual, including Goldfinches & LT Tits, we’ve had some Linnets, a Siskin pair, a Bullfinch, two male Greenfinches - they used to be common but not any more hereabouts - and briefly, a Great Spotted Woodpecker. House Martins are nearby but no Swallows. The Curlews have stopped flying over the garden, calling: they’ve gone up to the moorland hills for breeding.

I saw a wren today, it suddenly flew through my field of vision, I recognised it with delight, I wasn't expecting it. I was in a rough hedge at the side of the road between the woods and a busy road.

Wrens are more often heard singing, than seen, I find. There's one in my garden but I've never seen it!

From Scottish Wildlife Trust on LinkedIn:
“ It is with a very heavy heart that we announce news from our Loch of the Lowes Wildlife Reserve that a dead osprey was found near Dunkeld believed to be missing breeding male LM12.”
The chicks are likely to die now, without his bringing fish to the nest.
No cause determined yet.

Awful news, he was at the end of his expected life span apparently, let’s just hope he died naturally. ☹️

I think that was the nest of LM12 (Laddy), given the female has the same name leg tag NC0 as his mate. So the intruder has cleared out the last of Laddy’s eggs. Brutal, but that’s nature.

House Martins have returned again occupying both artifical nests put up last year.
It's good to hear them chuckling in the nests. They are now on the Red List as numbers in UK are on the decline.
