I just said to my 10 year old grand-daughter; that she is unlikely ever to see another queen. Given there are already 3 kings lined up. If George has a boy first, her own kids are are also going to struggle.

It will be ages, because after Charles will be William, then there will be his son. If he (George?) has a daughter first, then she will be our next Queen. Not in my lifetime...

Well our new King is the same age as me, so I doubt I'll ever see another Monarch.

RIP Queen Elizabeth 11.

Yes. I have had that phone call twice. Once from Lancashire to Sheffield. But the worst was in lockdown when I had to stand my ground to be alllowed in the hospital with my mum and wasn't able to be with her when she died during the night.
At least the Queen had family present and will be given the service she deserves, unlike the Duke of Edinburgh.

I now have square eyes from watching the funeral, I have never seen anything so awe inspiring. I always wonder on these occasions what my anti monarchy Welsh mother would have made of it all.

Currently in France, but managed to see the majority of the parades, the funeral and the committal on the Internet. So glad we were able to do so. Eternal rest grant unto her, may perpetual light shine upon her, may she rest in peace - she fully deserves to.

I'm not a monarchist so I didnt sing God Save The King at the rugby on Saturday, but obviously the minute's silence for someone who served our country so fantastically was very well deserved.

From the bits I saw it was great send off, and really good to see the marching music was uplifting rather than miserable - I'm sure Liz would acknowledge the sadness of loss, but would rather have people celebrate her life than be endlessly sad. There was a touch of "see who's got the silliest job title" for many of the dignitaries.

I wonder how long it will be before there's a royal funeral where people don't wear black?   We had a "Call for colour" at my Mum and my Dad's funerals - at my sister's husbands funeral we wore rock band t shirts, and some cultures have proper full on parties for funerals.

Seeing them all there you really get a sense of the massive task ahead for Charles - he has very big shoes to fill - not just family "issues" and those political missteps in the commonwealth - he's going to need very good advice and make some big changes to keep the Royals relevant with the younger generation.

My Mum refused to stand for the National Anthem. I still remember an occasion, don't know what, as a very little girl, somewhere with her when it was played and she stayed sitting. She said that I must stand as I was born in England. It was horrible.

I'll stand for it, its too much hassle not to , but I just wont sing :-) That said I cant ever remember a time when I've actually not already been stood up.

A couple of people on the fans thread for the Rugby complained about how the anthem was sung on Saturday - surely, if it's sung with belief, it doesnt matter how good your voice is.......even at times like this people will find something to be grumpy about, I guess.

Didnt they used to play the National Anthem at the cinema???

Yes they did usually play the national anthem at the cinema, but I remember the stampede to get out before it had finished. Usually by the time it had there was nobody still in there. I think my parents' generation probably stayed to the end, but they would have been those who lived through the wars. I wasn't born until it was all over.

It will take a while to get used to 'God Save the King', after so long. The lying in state and the ceremonials wrapped round the funeral and processions were breathtakingly good - seen all round the world, too. Our country may be in a right mess in some ways, but boy, can we put on that sort of a spectacle well! The Queen deserved nothing less. I had a few wobbly moments, but held it together until the lone piper started up; that always gets me, as does the last post on Remembrance day.
