I’m not putting any up. I’ve just come out of hospital after a 4 month stay and due to mobility issues I’m having to live downstairs in an annex attached to the side of the house which was previously used as a junk room. Unfortunately while having it cleaned out ready for me to use my husband didn’t spot my treasured box of Christmas tree toys and decorations. Over 25 years of precious memories was thrown away in error. I really don’t have the heart to start again, for this year anyway. I’ll see how I feel if I’m still here next year

Real tree every year (farming Christmas trees is an important business in some rural areas, so I feel no guilt). This year, it’s shorter & very fat, other years it’s been tall & skinny - we like the variety (we do have high ceilings). Decorations are reminders of holidays, wee gifts from overnight visitors, some my mum made when I was young, all packed away carefully in January.
A great innovation has been battery powered lights on a 6-hour timer, so I’ve wrapped a string loosely around the wreath that I made myself & it lights up the front door beautifully on dark rainy nights.
