Your right it is new technology but all cars have electrics that when damaged can cause a fire.
If the battery is at fault then that’s a issue, if not if sooner be in a battery car. Than a petrol car with 70 Ltrs of fuel on board

Bessie

Well thats me in the sh!t then isnt it ... got a tank of fuel AND a battery system under the rear seats

Tesla make the safest cars on the road, don’t take my word for it check out the stats.
Or better still have a look at the crash test video, Tesla v Volvo.

It was once said that Volvo were the safest cars on the road, but that honour now goes to Tesla.

I have not owned my own car since 1985, having been a company car driver since then, the thought of owning my own fossil car fills me with dread.

Fossil cars are expensive to run, both in fuel and the many mechanical parts which fail due to the built in obsolescence nature of the fossil car.

What’s not to like about the Tesla Model 3, almost zero running cost, and few mechanical parts to fail, the motor is said to be good for a million miles.

Brake Pads last an age, due to regenerative braking, the car body is aluminium so will last longer than a steel body car.

To me owning a Tesla is a no brainer.

Everythings a no brainer, or some kind of quip.

And as Mike said, why is this in the towcar section.

It is in the towcar section, because it has been announced that it will be capable of towing.

As soon as the specification becomes available, hopefully someone will post on here.

I look forward to hearing what it will tow, and how far it will tow it.

It had better be good.

1. No where to charge it at night.
2. Reportedly poor build quality.
3. Environmentaly very unfriendly.
4. Very restricted towing capacity......Unless proven otherwise.

My £25 brake pads last me around 40k, I am more than happy with that.

To the vast majority of people in these part, they are about as useful as a chocolate fire guard.

To you it may be a “no brainier” as you keep saying, but the vast majority would not agree with you. Too me, I see absolutely no point, a no brainier........To me.

An awful lot of negativity for a car that hasn’t even arrived in this county.
Let’s just wait an see when we know all the facts, as a brand Tesla are a luxury car maker that make some of the fastest cars in the world.
If not the fastest

Despite reports of poor build quality......Fastest is far more important. 🤪🤪

How is it environmentally unfriendly?! Given our grid mix you could almost say it runs on wind power. Would you say a sailing boat is environmentally unfriendly!? Haha

There are some valid arguments why Tesla might not be right for you but this isn't one of them!

Materials that go into its construction. Disposal of batteries - major hazard.
Electric power isn't green - until the elves come up with a way of producing and delivering it that has zero environmental cost from raw materials. Even wind farms take raw materials to construct them and distribute their power.

So how much more environmentally unfriendly are they compared to a conventional car ? And are wind farms more environmentally that deep sea oil refineries ?

Mike have you ever looked or sat in a Tesla ?

Some interesting stuff on the latest "model 3 owners club" YouTube show, aka "The EV Revolution Show".

They talk about an official report that bust's the myth that EV's are less environmental friendly to produce than fossil cars.

Also some very interesting info on EV sales, not just Tesla.

We are now just at the beginning of the mass adoption of EV's, and it won't be untill post 2020 that we will start to witness history in the making.

The fossil car will always be around, they are never going to go away, it's just that there will be hardly any of them on the roads in the future, that's just progress.

Disposal of batteries is a major hazard? Care to elaborate? Is there a river somewhere full of pollution from batteries being disposed of? Maybe a battery disposal facility somewhere belching out putrid battery smoke as they burn them? Or a big battery landfill somewhere where the ground is contaminated because of all the valuable metals that have simply been thrown in the ground.

To say electric cars are not environmentally friendly compared to fossil burners shows ignorance. It devalues your other arguments, some of which I agree with!
