New car sales figures excluding EV's for March were quite interesting if not alarming, as March is a New Plate change month so sales are usually up, not down.
Overall new car sales in March were down by 16%, but Diesels, oh dear were down by 37% !!
And EV's oh yes up by 6%
I think we can glean a trend from those numbers, new car sales have a direct correlation to used car sales in the long term, as new cars eventually turn into used cars.
If all goes according to plan, and when my company car driving days are over, I can see me picking up the keys to a used Tesla Model 3, that has just come of lease, so will be around 3 years old with less than 30k miles on it, although it won't really come with a key, as it has a plastic NFC card thingy instead.
Anyway, I will have to wait until around 2030 to see that plan to fruition!

You can’t really make any analysis based on a single month. Whilst there is no doubt sales are struggling comparing in this way is daily mail type scare mongering. The figures are correct but what they fail to show is March 17 was an exceptional month as customers bought ahead of RFL changes. This in itself shows the average drivers lack of interest in so called green cars as they bought more polluting cars earlier just to avoid the impending tax increases. Only real driver is cost.
And as for seeing a Tesla 3 towing has anyone seen one at all??
Pure electric car sales are down 16% year to date, the rise in sales in the ev sector are due to plug in hybrid cars which has been driven by the BIK savings.
