I think a Clio might be slightly smaller than a Punto, so depending you may struggle. Just have to be clever with how you pack your car.

We have no more camping stuff this year, but now have a dog so we will have to pack our Astra wisely. Last year we could just flatten the back seats and chuck it all in, where as now we're going to need to leave room for the dog, and make sure that the way we pack means it's not all going to fall on top of him at the first tight bend.

Why not have a dry run of packing your car up, and if you struggle then look at the possibility of getting a roof rack or something?

I agree with Billy.  We have Mondeo/Freelander with roof box, trailer and a dog and sometimes struggle to get it all in.

I have a Focus 5 door hatch, and had a go to see if our stuff fitted (our first trip is in May) Wifey, doggy and me, with our roofbox we had all our gear packed in with some room to spare most importantly tent and poles in the car last.

We struggled to get everything in our five door vauxhall vectra on our first camping trip at the start of April and there was inly three of us. We have now purchased the handirack and handiholdall to give us more room. We would have chosen a more conventional roof rack but would have struggled to store the box when not in use.

I used to have a clio and you'd be amazed with just how much you could fit in for the two of us. That included an igloo coolbox which is pretty big just on its own. Not sure just how much gear you have though.

We went down to Cornwall last year in our Peugeot 206 estate. We are a family of four and this was a 10 day holiday with a roofbox but not the biggest car in the world. Packed everything really carefully and took minimal amounts of clothes, food etc. Going there was OK, although we had stuff in the footwells and in every nook and cranny.

When we set off to come home we really struggled to get it all back in the car again! I remember being on the campsite looking at this big pile of stuff and wondering how on earth we were going to do it. It didnt help that the kids had acquired a body board, football and various other stuff that they wouldnt leave behind.

I ended up been able to hardly move my feet on the 7 hour journey coming home. Never again. We have upgraded to a bigger car now but I have said that this year if it wont go in the car easily it will have to be left behind.

We also have a towbar now and have thought about a trailer but this just gives me an excuse to take even more stuff.

We have a new car for this year, had a practise run last weekend fitting all the stuff in, thinking it would be a doddle as this car is bigger - but unfortunately not... I think I must have bought more stuff than I realised and hubby is now trying to convince me to get a roof box - there are only 2 of us!!!!!

We got a 6 man dome tent, 4 ring gas cooker, 4 airbeds, sleeping bags and a whole load more 'stuff' plus 4 people into my wifes Fiat 500!

So ok, we couldn't breathe for the whole hour it took to get there and back but it can be done.

We managed with a 4 person tunnel tent, a small dome tent and all the bits and bobs (including 2 loos, a folding shelf unit and an inflatable sofa!) in an older style Nissan Micra. I have to admit to chucking the sofa in the bin rather than pack it to come home as it had developed a slow leak, but it had been worth it for the trip as it was so comfy!

Now we have a new Honda Jazz and it has SO much space in it - can't wait to go camping as it will be a doddle, especially as we got brutal and have minimised all the camping stuff (though I might just have to get another inflatable sofa...!)
