hey...ive found a working way. well works for me...as the little kids of our neighbours on sites + my own tend to not see guy ropes, now + again and trip or catch them.

i used an old hi-visible vest from work....cut it up into small strips then tied them to the bottom of the guy ropes....near to the pegs. never had kids tripping over them since! you could proberly buy bright yellow or orange material or use something simaler from alot of shops.
it doesnt look tatty....in my opinion. but solves the problem!

Cheapo mini glow rings from the pound shop - 100 for 1. Makes the tent look quite eerie in the dark.

Good Idea, might do that myself. My Exped tent had little yellow bags for storing guy lines in, which when empty were movable along the guys.

they dont have to be big strips. and if you put them right on the floor the grass may hide them a touch. just about 6 inch above the pegs is enough.put one knot in them and you can move them up and down the guy rope.and i use them for day and night.and night you can see them quite clearly.saves alot of time and effort replacing all the guy ropes with bright ones. look in my gallery pics. think there an example there.

We camped this weekend and I parked the car as close to end of guy ropes as poss which ment you had to step over them to get past - about a foot gap.

We STILL had people (kids) runnung down past the car and having to jump over them and either touch the tent or my car to balance to get through! GRRR!

RUDE!

This drives me nuts. When I was young my parents would have killed me for crossing someone else's pitch but there seem to be a new breed of campers that seem to think its fine. And it's not just the kids. Some of the adults are just as bad!

Last year I got loads of cheap solar lights and I now stick them in the ground where each guy line is - works a treat and looks pretty too.

I've just spent five days at a site on Anglesey, there was no-one pitched near me until the afternoon of the first day when two families arrived with four kids between them, they pitched across the field from me and the kids proceeded to ride their bikes and scooters close to my (new) awning, so I went to the local shop and got a 15-pole 25ft windbreak - I think they got the message when they saw me putting it up!

I do this to my kids now, if they even dare attempt to go on someone elses pitch without permission, they know a punishment is coming their way. It's simply just rude!

I am sure not all kids are like this and I am sure that they are just excited to be outdoors etc....but if I was a parent (and I so dearly want to be one day!) I would tell my kids not too do that lol

I just worry that they will trip over and head but and dent their heads on my car (read: worry that their heads will dent my car!)
