Can anyone help me out please, how will I find out what hitch and stabiliser I have fitted to my 1995 Abbey Cachet. The rubber gaiter has small split to the end that joins the the hitch. I think previous owner has caused this by putting heavy duty hitch lock upside down and forced it on over the bellows

Can you post a photo?
Not realistic to guess as previous owner may have changed the hitch from standard.

Were stabiliser hitches fitted as standard as far back as 1995? If not, it's definitely non-standard. Aren't there any markings or serial numbers on it? I'm not familiar with them as my 1992 Elddis doesn't have one.

I should have worded it properly its a alko hitch/stabiliser that obviously has been added since the caravan was made. I want to know where I would find what type it is?

Presumably there are no markings or numbers on it? I think I would take some photos of it and take them into a caravan dealer who should be able to identify it. I doubt whether there are many different types.

There were several different models of stabilser manufactured by AL-KO but you may be able to identify which model you have by some clues here.
If it has a round dial on the off side with a lever on the near side then it's a 1300 model. If it has a lifting handle directly over the top that is horizontal and offset to the near side then it's an AKS 2000 model. If the lifting handle is vertical and directly over the hitch handle then it's a 3004 model. Hope this helps but Google the models mentioned above and come back with the reply when you have confirmed which of the AL-KO stabilers is fitted.

Look closely at the casting in front of the rubber gaiter bit on the side low down, most have the model number in the casting.
