Hi guys
Iíve mentioned this before in a previous post, however there is a new noise.Every Hr or so my water pumps comes on and off on its own as if itís losing pressure.Ive put up with it as there are no leaks whatsoever. However Iíve noticed a noise coming from the pump when itís not in use , kind of like a clicking noise and what I can only describe as a sound which comes from the back of a fridge. If I run the water itís goes however starts again a short time later. Is it best to just get a new one or can anyone suggest what the issue may be and a quick fix.

Kind regards

Andy

On the side of the caravan where you plug the hose into has a non return valve built in. Often if this is not sealing you will get this. Also look for any hairline cracks in the housing.

I took the water pipe out of outside water connector and quite a bit of water flowed out is this normal. Can this connector be changed, is it an easy job?
Thanks

I fitted an extra non return valve in the end of the pipe. It also stops water running back out of pipe when changing aquaroll and also when replacing pipe in the water prevents air getting into system. This will cause the clicking until all air has been dispelled out of the system.

Haven't a picture but remove blue strainer from end of hose. Not needed as has filter internal, and warm end of hose in hot water to soften and push one of these in the end of pipe with serrated end sticking out.

One-way valves often get bits of detritus stuck in them. This causes the backflow you observe and the pump 'hunting' to keep up the pressure. Often the unit can be removed, dismantled and the offending item removed so that it works perfectly again.

Perhaps it's the pressure switch that is acting up? That wouldn't cause the water to drain backwards though.

I'd try a cheap multimeter, it will tell you a) whether it has power and doesn't run, or b) if the pressure switch is working. Maybe it just hasn't liked the constant start/stop action.

If the pump is OK, you can buy a new pump head, cheaper than the whole thing plus it includes the non-return valves and pressure switch.

New pump £114 which includes filter and floor attachment. Looks simple enough to fit.It would appear the old pump is knackered
Thanks for all your comments .

I did read somewhere when I was looking, that these pumps were designed for about 5 years worth of use. I was quite surprised by that statement as I thought they would last longer being such a large pump but nowt is made to last nowadays.

Just glad it's sorted now Andy.
