Thought I'd officially open the club!

Doesn't matter what size or colour, if you love the Orchy then you're welcome!

Anyway, here's my pink baby... (not the best pitching we've done but it was windy and very soggy - it was August last year in North Wales)

I want to join your club.  I love my Orchy 600 so much that I bought the extension today.  Can't wait to try it out.

Welcome to you all! Basically if you post and appreciate, you've automatically joined!

Yes Soggy, of course you can be a member! It's an appreciation club not an owner's club, which is what I intended, so it's open to all!

Well we THOUGHT we'd got the sensible green, but OH didn't check the label and when we got it home discovered it was pink! He didn't care though and I loved it! But if I see a blue one, I'm gonna be jealous! Hopefully next weekend I'll get pics with the standard black canopy. It's gonna be the first weekend trip of the year and I can't WAIT!!!!

Sparkly - what was the fault with your first tent? I'm glad you got another and it didn't put you off, most people would have gotten a different tent. You get a gold star for that!

San - which extension have you got?

This is going to be fun! It's the first thread I've ever started here and I hope we can have some fun, share pics and tips and generally talk about our love of the Orchy! (and perhaps Vangos in general as I do have a Kura... can't leave that out!)

Hey Guys,

Im very much an Orchy lover, we camped out in her for the first time last weekend and had a great time!

Ive posted some pictures here:

http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/chrisdaish/PublicOrchyPictures?feat=directlink

Notice its still suffering from "saggy door syndrome" :(
Think next time I'll pitch it without the front 2 door guys - like most of the website photos.

I just love my Fiance, he's indulging my camping obssession right now by taking me to Go Outdoors in Bristol on Saturday to look for our tent, and I have my eye on the Orchy 600 lol.

Might have to show him this thread to show him that this would be the one to go for after we drooled over the Khyam Chatsworth for a while, but the price was too much for me!  To be honest, I think OH would have to hold me back as I'd probably go ahead and buy it along with the carpet and footprint ground sheet in one go HAHA!

How long would you guys say it would take a newbie to set up (all the other times I went camping, my dad set everything up for us lol!).

Although there's only the 2 of us, I think it would be cool to have a future proof tent should we get any additions after we're married ;)

Oooh WiPPaH! Lookin' GOOD!!! Yeah we've had saggy door or stretched door syndrome. We've got the footprint groundsheet now though, so hopefully that might make things easier...

mmmbisto! Welcome! You tell your man that you won't go camping in any other tent! LOL.

Hmmm... well it took us about 45 minutes the first time, but we did the usual thing of getting the poles mixed up and having to start over. I think the last time we pitched it took us 20 minutes, and I managed to put up the rest of the tent once the main dome part was up. OH went to the car to get something and by the time he got back I'd completed the pitch myself! LOL

I think if you're getting the 600, there will be enough room for additions. And you've got the option of getting the canopy to extend the tent.

Well apart from having a nightmare getting stuck in roadworks traffic, having to put up the tent as it was getting dusk, then the weather turned bad and was gorgeous for the day we were coming home, we had a great time! LOL. The camp beds were fantastic, so comfy and the canopy is BRILLIANT!!! Here are some new pics complete with canopy, and even though it's the 'wrong' colour, I think it looks OK...

Does anyone know if it's possible to put up an Orchy 500 on your own?

Hi There,

This guy on Youtube managed it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwoFxVImi9o

But I've got to say I think I would like the extra help raising the pod.

I put my 600 up on my own, takes about 20 -30 minutes. Bit easier if girls are about to hold tent pegs etc but definitely doable. I think there's quite a few others on here who pitch it on their own as well.  Sarah x

I'm sure I could put up our 400 on my own after a bit of practice. I guess if you get a technique you should be able to manage it. I think the most difficult bit would be getting the main dome up.

Hey Guys,

Quick question some one may know - I have been looking at the Vango Porch Poles and they seem to come in two different sizes:

180cm
210cm

Does anyone know which height is best suited to the Orchy 500?
