Hi Chris

With a little 'un you might want to leave the curtain (if the 2010 still has it) down anyway. For 2 plus your lad you should have loads of room. The Colemans seem well regarded and the Easybed seems just the job for miladdo. You'll have a great time.

Didn't know the scoot pic was up. It didn't seem to upload right when I tried it, so thanks for letting me know it's there

Back in the day, I wasn't allowed to get the Vespa Sportique I wanted. Then, for my big Six Oh last year, the kids mucked in and got me a brand new Vespa. How cool is that

Bless 'em. Done my CBT and thinking about the full test. For local camps we might take it and the car. OH quite game for me to wheel it in at night. There's room enough in an Orchy 600

Happy days

New! Please upload a photo of your tent to the Tent Showcase!

Ahh, snifferama, bring it on. Off for a FF helmet this morning. I'm worried about swallowing bees with the open face I've got.

It's not just bees you should worry about, dozy wood pigeons are more of a threat!  Twice I've had them fly out of hedgerows at me, one hit in the shoulder and one smack on the top of my head as I ducked below the screen.  A few inches lower and it would have been pretty unpleasant.  Definitely worth getting a full face lid Mike.

Back to the subject of Orchys...

It's our first camp in our new Orchy 500 this weekend.  I can't wait!  Hopefully the weather will be nice to us....

We've got lots of new gear to christen, most importantly the tent itself!  We do have some support with us in case we have any trouble with the new gear now tho.  The GFs parents rang up last week and told us they'd booked a pitch for their motorhome at the same site.  I think her Mum is scared I'm going to freeze her little girl dragging her out camping this early in the season so their bringing their motorhome along to provide a heated retreat for us! lol

Hi Andy, got it on Sat, hi viz finish too. Protection aspect aside (which I hope I never have to put to the test) the increase in comfort factor is incredible. I now feel I can concentrate on traffic/the road rather being buffeted by wind and road noise and suffering sensory overload. Oh, and ear plugs help. Got them in now so can't hear the nagging

Anyway, back to Orchys, have a great w/e away. Hope the GFs parents don't pitch too close ...ahemmm

Hi Andy, slightly off topic (but I am a member of the Orchy AS !!) any issues taking your motorbike camping ? My kids got me a new Vespa for my birthday so I'm in mod mode again and thinking about taking it to local sites whilst the wife takes the car. Then we've got it there for running about.

I'd be thinking about bringing it in at night on a mat, or during the day if we've gone off in the car. Do you mind my asking what security you use ? Chains, alarms etc ? My scoot has an immobiliser, but I'd use the chain too. Do sites tend to charge if you take a car plus bike ? Or does it vary ?

Any guidance/suggestions would really be appreciated

Hey Pemb, nice looking scoot (for a Lammy)

No, mine's not kitted up (yet) so would go in fine. Is it yours ? Christmas run was it ? (the trousers and beard are a bit of a giveaway). I'm like Sherlock Holmes me.

We should have a scoot sub-forum

Not mine Mike though I do like them , and yes it was taken at the Christmas run , there was a nice chopper scooter at the easter egg run as well but I didn't have the camera with me.

I am in to chopped Harleys more than anything , I have had a couple of those in my time , but have ridden scooters when I was younger.

This was one of mine

Don't think I would be let on many camp sites with that , and even if I was I wouldn't be very popular with the rest of the campers if I started it.The OH could here me comming home from over a mile away on it , but it did win a few trophies in its day four in one show once.

But I do like most things on 2 wheels including scooters , used to have a couple of mates in Mallorca that rode 2 black and white mod scooters(with all the extra mirrors and lights) to advertise a night club they run , the spanish loved them as they had never seen anything like them.

We're off this weekend for the first time in our Orchy 600, complete with our six month old Springer Spaniel and nine month old Jack Russell, are we mad or what!
We brought the 600 last year and still not slept in it yet. We've just been out and brought the premium extension, so should have some fun putting it all together in front of an audience for the first time.
We're going to the New Forest, so we should make for some good amusement for all our fellow campers

Well we survived the weekend and managed to pitch everything without falling out with 'she who must be obeyed' she even made the tea afterwards.

I've a few pic's and i'd like your comments please, on the fitting of the premium extension, is there supposed to be a gap where the two meet.

Looks good to me jodie, I was a little disappointed how the guy from the extension needs to go over the side door when we put ours up, there's abit of a gap on ours too

All looking good. I think the Orchy plus extension will always be a bit of a compromise, as there's nothing specifically for the tent.

The ideal would be something clipping to the two main poles (the lower brow would then be inside), or zipping to the front, but then having a dip, as you'd want standing height in the extension

If the Orchy was a true tunnel it'd be a doddle. But then it wouldn't be an Orchy

A better photo of the gap between Orchy and Premium Extension, it was the first time we'd pitched the Orchy as well as the Premium Extension so I guess we'll only get better at it..

p.s it was the first time I've pitch any tent for over 25 years shhh
