Of course you can join the club Feecamp! Welcome!

I'd love a polycotton tent, but can't afford it at the moment. But at least it's something to look forward to in the future. We've worked our way up to a big tent so that's the next objective.

Monday is KURA TIME!!! Can't wait to try it out! We've got a utility tent too for cooking in.

MisGuided, you picked a great weekend! Lucky you! We're probably gonna get rain, rain and more rain! Can't believe the weather changed so quickly, it's NOT FAIR!

We're happy with the extra space the canopy provides, and after I'd thought about it, I prefer an open canopy. If you have the extension it's just like another tent added on. And if you want to go to the loo in the middle of the night, you have TWO doors to go through... and that's the noise of 3 zips opening and closing twice...

Fixed the canopy now. We've got some of the tenacious tape u400jb9! It was for future use, but I had a rip on my foldable shopping bag and have used it to fix that and it's great! Might use it to repair the hole in the Orchy sleeping pod.

smee05 - That's a good price especially as it has the windbreak and a canopy. But I can't really tell what year it is. I have a sneaking suspicion that it's the 2008 because I can't see the electric zip point, and that's a new feature to the 2009 version. And at least they've done the repairs and have been honest about it. I'd say if you like it go for it!

Hi,

I'm fairly new to the site. We have a Vango Orchy 600 and tested it in the garden last weekend. Really happy with it, pitching was great and fairly easy, room inside was also just what we were after. We have a sage and laurel version with the side extension, we didn't try this though, wish we had now.

We going camping for the first time in August, at a small site where we have family already booked to stay in a caravan. We have a three year old and a baby who will be 4 months old. Really looking forward to it although a bit nervous too, more for the baby.

Hopefully we will be off a few more times next year when the baby is a bit older. Currently buying things bit by bit and panicking about getting it all in the car LOL!!! Off to Aldi on Thursday.

Hi put us down as Orchy fans,

Great tent, good size especially the bedroom pod, quick and simple to pitch, ideal for last minute weekend getaways. We got our 600 for exactly this reason as its up in 20 minutes max. Did play around with the saggy door issue on the first trip but sorted that by doing as others have said and run the front door pole guys forward so pulling the pole upward which does the trick.

We use a large Vango extension, from our Diablo days, which works fine but we did do away with the guy lines from the elasticated section and replaced them with C clips on tension straps which now hook onto the front two dome poles. This keeps the canopy in place more effectively than the old guys and also eliminates the annoying one that crosses the side door.

Just one question though, ours is a 2009 model in the sage/laurel colours, if that makes any difference ! but I cant for the life of me work out what the 2 SIG zips are for either side of the front door, anyone got any ideas as you cant open the front up any further ??

Orchy Club meet sounds like fun though.

Gary

Thanks smee05 but no there not the EHU port there are 2 large 18" or there abouts zips both sides of the main door between the SIG and the tent wall and then it is stitched in as normal ?

Had thought it was so you could open the front of the tent out further but this doesn't work.

The EHU port is just ahead of the bedroom pod on the far wall opposite the side door.

Yes, the EHU zip is further back by the bedroom. We've sat pondering what the SIG zips are for. You can't open out the front windows sides further as the door wouldn't zip up then. Bit of a puzzle this. Any old Orchy hands ?

yes those zips puzzle me too, it seems to just be creating a weak spot where water could come and into the tent if the ground beneath gets saturated!

Im glad im not the only one that has spent more time than I should have trying to work this out ?? There is just no explanation that I can see what so ever 17

Oh and the other thing that may be worth running by you all ... our SIG was lifting quite badly around the bedroom area and annoyed the hell out of me so I got some shock cord and extended the bedroom hanging straps that attach along the top of the inner pod which has cured this problem and we now have a flat ground sheet and no stress on the inner pod.

Hope this helps anyone with the same problem !!

Hi u400lb9,

With the Vango canopies the elasticated part nearest the tent that drapes over the doorway has 2 guy lines, remove the guy lines and replace them with 2 suitable lengths of 1" binding a buckle catch for tensioning and finally a C clip of the correct size for the poles. Basically like the tension straps around the skirt of the tent. Now stitch the binding to the canopy where the old guy lines where. Now when you pitch the Orchy and the canopy simply position the canopy over the tent and clip the 2 C clips over the 1st part of exposed pole as it comes out of the pole sleeve on either side of the tent and then tension the straps to square up the canopy and secure it to the tent.

The side door is now free of any guy lines and the canopy lays flat against the tent and does not pull down and cut in as much and is far more secure.

I hope this helps clear things up for you but let me know if you have any more questions.

Gary

Edit: If you get stuck let me know and I can make you some straps and post them to you when I get a minute.

Ok if you go to this website www.pennineoutdoor.co.uk they can supply all the bits that you will need.

I am the Gary that you have emailed about the carpets yes and I'm sorry if I have not got back to you as yet but to say I have been inundated is an understatement.

However, I have a few more people starting next week to help out with the order process which will speed things up and also I have been concentrating on getting the reviews published 1st so people can understand why they are the price they are at 25 sq mtr.

I can hear everyone gasp !!!

Wait until you read the reviews and then make you minds up though.
