So  ok went to winfiields Haslingden last week and saw the new eternity 600 and front canopy on display got to say its grown on me......

i originally looked at the price tag laughed out loud and moved on to something with an earthly price on it, but later in the day my thoughts kept returning to the practicality of it.

As a foster carer who usually goes camping with at least 4 kids in tow the thought of going camping always struk the fear of god into me, an hour of are we there yet.... followed by my good lady being left to amuse them on her own for an hour while i struggled on my own putting our tent up was never a fun way to start any holiday, the thouht of a tent we could have pitched in minutes (without the obligatory set up cursing and red face) i mean WOW.... i was sold

So the day after we returned to winfields to order our new tent, should be in stock 30th of April.

SOOOOOOO..... excited

At 1100 with the front canopy it does makes me nervous especially as its so easy to erect/put down, what if i come back from a day out to find some tea leaf has made off with my new pride and joy......

So ive been looking at tent insuance mainly through the Yeomans website at about 35 a year to insure the tent only (no contents) i dont feel as nervous any more.

Anyones thoughts or advise on our new tent or the pros and cons of tent insurance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Scalaxtricity,

If you haven't yet taken the insurance have you checked with your insurance company who do your home contents insurance? Ours covers an all risks away from home of 3000 and we have specified the tent as its a Cabanon Biscaya and would cost at least 1200 to replace. The extra cost of specifying the tent was $4.24 on top of the premium. Just a thought that it is always worth asking the question.

I do know that not all insurance companies will cover camping equipment away from home but if you dont ask you wont know. Good luck and enjoy the new tent.

John

Wow 1,100 for a "Polyester" tent, each to thier own I guess, we live just down the road from Winfields, and I have viewed the Vango Airbeams, definatley not my cup of tea.

Having said that I did go to the Karsten display in Cheshire a couple of years back, now that's what I call an inflatable tent, although the 5k price tag, did bring a tear to my eye, but if I was in the market for an inflatable tent, which I am not, it could only be the Karsten.

Agree with Francais - we saw one at Winfields a few days ago and was unimpressed with the stability and was concerned with the longevity of the product!

Good idea....it did'nt occur to me to check with home insurance

i know 1100 is just plain crazy but if it turns out the way i think it will meaning this summer we get say  5 extra weekends away (one or two night trips) that we just wouldnt of done with either of the other two tents we were looking at

vango amazon 600 for 620

gelert morpheous 8 500

due to proberbly spending a good hour hard slog pitching and packing away.

to me thats money well spent...

Mmmmm!!!!!!!!....... i do like the karstens but even i cant justify over 5000 for a set up that suits us.

So all being well our new tent should be here any day now very excited.....

im still sure we chose the right tent for us and still happy the reasons for choosing the eternity are the right ones for us, and in justifying the price the way i look at it is that we have paid a 300 excess for the airbeam system over standard poled tents and i can live with that.

Ive been to winfields several times since ordering just to drool over the eternity,  her in doors says im a geek, but again i can live with that....

just wondering if anyone has had any updates on when their shiny new airbeams will be in stock??

Scalextricity - I too am planning on an Airbeam purchase in the next week or so but as it is just for me it will be either the Kinetic 400 or Pulse 450. I just think the idea of being able to put up a tent, on my own, in little time sounds great. I am sure the 'Poly Cotton' frame tents are truly amazing but as I am on my own I don't relish the thought of spending an age putting one up.

As far as spending 5k on a tent, well, lucky them!! I can think of better things to spend 5 grand on!!

Hi inspector yeah the ease of pitching sold it for us.

we did consider the kinetic 600 and front canopy but the bedroom setup of 2+2+2 on the eternity swung it.

for one person i would proberbly go for the pulse as its slightly bigger and cheaper than the kinetic but but with the kinetic you could allways get the front canopy later on if you needed a biggger set up

And 5k thats campervan money to me LOL....

Hi Scalextricity - I must admit the decision between the Pulse / Kinetic is one that is proving difficult! The Pulse is not only slightly longer but is taller as well BUT the doors are on either side and obviously no canopy. 75 difference makes me think Groundsheet and Carpet contribution though!! Plus, I have everything else to get to enable me to actually get away so I will be spending more on top. Oh God, decisions, decisions!!

Steve

Yeah that 75 would be a big wedge toward a footprint and carpet LOL..

unfortunatly i spent my budget and some on the tent/canopy so the footprint and carpet are just an added luxery that will have to wait

Enjoy your new tent, i am not going to say anything about my views on the airbeams everyone either likes them or not.

a cheap tarp will do as a footprint, look at other manufacturers carpets, you could probably find a discontinued model carpet cheap on ebay that will be pretty close to your living room space.
or a couple of picnic rugs will do, believe me a carpet is a luxury you cant live without as soon as you have used one.

Hi all. Getting in on the airbeam chat.
We have our eternity 600 for a few weeks after getting sent wrong airbeam first. not only had it up once due to weather. Still waiting for canopy though. Do you no if the canopy has a door on the front.

We decided on the eternity 600 for beedroom and ease of pitching. Hoping with the two young ones to be able to get a few more nights camping this year as before with the vermount xl a late finish on friday and its pitching tent or cooking in the dark.

We had the eternith up admired and down in bag in less than an hour just brilliant. Still to test in rain but its brilliant to put up peg out and take down cant wait for canopy and our first trip

hi roo good to hear youve got your tent...

yes there is a door on the front of the canopy, dosent have the flysceen on it like all the other doors though.

i agree should get more short breaks away with the eternity due to quick'n easy pitching.

where did you purchase it from ??

hope your canopy comes soon and ejoy your summer
