Its all to do with the fact they got so popular every retailer wanted to sell them, this then brought the price down due to retailers fighting for the trade so in the end the retailers were not making any money. So retailers dropped it from there ranges and moved on to the next big thing.
Its the same for the Montana 6p for next year. The problem now is when only one retailer is selling a product (any product)they can keep the price at whatever level they like sort of. Im sure someone smarter than me will be able to explain the economics of it all.
You see this a lot with branded clothing.

Hmmm.... the last batch of the worlds most popular tent? (Well, the 6 berth version, at least).
Who on earth would have the foresight to stockpile such a thing!!!

I bet he's the sort to buy Old Kent Road..... just to stop anyone else getting their hands on the set!!!

My other half and I took an Icarus 500 with us this year for our camping trips http://www.outdoormegastore.co.uk?cmid=OFZLT0VOdzhuems9&afid=TFZiTXhReW9Mcjg9&ats=ODA1QUR5VmZXY2c9/vango-icarus-500-tent.html
it's a great tent with loads of space (we also had the canopy to sit in when the weather got bad - this is the uk)
We found it really easy to put up and great to put away! A good tip....lay the 'tent bag' on the floor so when you're folding your tent up it's the correct size and will actually fit in the thing!! ;-))

Thanks Gary! but after looking at your site! I was leaning more towards the Coleman Galileo 5. You seem to think its similar to the Icarus, but better?

But, you're a LONG way from me, and I'd like to see one set up really before I buy. Not sure where I can do that in the North West. Does anyone know?

However, I would probably still buy from Gary after all his good advice and videos on here! I figure he deserves that loyalty from me because otherwise I'm not sure our Maritsa would ever have got pitched without his video!

I've been having the exact same dilemma recently. I have a Maritsa 700 and love it but want a smaller tent so I can do away with the roof box for weekends and put the bikes up there instead.   I finally (today) went for the Icarus 600 as thought the 500 was too small bedroom wise. Tent only no accessories. It sounds like the accessories will not appear next year so ........Gary........any idea what footprint I could use instead? I'm not that keen to go without or DIY one.

Pretty sure the Vango Kinetic 600 footprint is the same size.

Thanks for that Gary.
Was lovely speaking to you on the phone too - so helpful and knowledgeable. Just wish I lived nearer Hertfordshire!

Oh - and I'm another who wouldn't have got the Maritsa 700 pitched without your advice. The Vango pitching instructions and method are shockingly over complicated.

In fact only the second time we took it out we were aware of being 'gawped at' the whole time we were pitching it and felt a bit uncomfortable. It turned out the two couples came over, congratulated us on how quick we got it put up, offered us a drink and then confessed that they had a Maritsa 500 which they didn't use because of pitching and said they'd give it another go doing it the same way as us.

Hi Rachel,we have an outwell vermont l 2011 model as our main tent. Its a great tent but like you too big for a weekend away.Just last month we decided on the Kampa Oxwich 4.Really pleased with it plus it has a side door with a wet weather canopy where you could do your cooking. We purchased ours from Casey's price 164 plus a footprint for 21, pp was free.Delivered within 4 days.
