We have a sig on our diablo 600, and a non sig on our campus indiana 8. I love both of them, but have to say I prefer the campus. Even on breezy nights, I can still leave the bedroom zips undone as it is nice and cosy, but in the diablo it can get too warm even with all doors open, if there is no breeze or one in the wrong direction.
It is a shame with the diablo, that the weather it is most suited to being used in, is weather I wouldn't want to take it in, due to being inner tent first, and sig. I have now got a new tent ( a lovely gelert cotton tunnel tent ) with a zig which will hopefully give me the best of both worlds. Will be camping in it next weekend in north Wales, so will soon find out.

Or perhaps tents for UK or abroad

Yep, that's about what it boils down to for us.

What does anyone reckon the the new Khyam (2008) SIGs? They are not polyethylene, as with many other manufacturers, but polyester, like the tent. I can understand this is to facilitate easy folding, since it needs to be quite light and flexible to be folded with the tent, especially as the frame stays affixed.
However, we have a dog, and I suspect her claws would potentially damage this fabric more than a polyethylene one, making a carpet obligatory for protection. Then, I reckon it is likely to get more stinky than a polyethylene one (I'm thinking wet dog here, plus spillages etc) and potentially harder to clean. What do others think?

We've just purchased the 2008 Outwell Vermont XL, SIG, windows open, pitch in one.
So all in all: easy to put up, no nasty insects, lush optional extra carpet in inner living area, bath tub style ground sheet for outer living area (kitchen / eating), warm & cosy on those cold nights & plenty of ventilation.
After weeks of researching tents I think we hit the jack pot too as we only paid £399.14 for it (RRP £629.99)
I wouldn't camp in a tent without a sig, all those insects, leaks, wind etc no thank you. Even if you can fit it perfectly so it doesn't leak, why bother - just buy a tent with a sig, saves all the hassle. :)

I'm now utterly convinced that SIGs are important for the bedrooms and that a separate groundsheet for the rest of the tent makes it a lot easier to sort out spillages, water ingress and other mess.
i'll second that :)
interesting to read about the new khyams.
i am hoping we will be ok for a bit with ours but was concerned that if we did need to replace it we would be talking about a different beast altogether. Seems i was right. :(
but anyway, next time i am going for the new quechua :) No groundshhet in the 'day room' but a sig in the bedroom tent (so not off topic at all!) :)
