These cannot be compared to De waard, Randstad or Karsten. It start with the tiny picture already showing the very few short lower guylines. The space between them is much larger than it is on the De waard and Randstad (Kartsen is an entirely different model). This means that the flysheet does not have the fastening and not the support that the other ones have. The don't have the 'skeleton' as De waard and Randstad have. I have seen several of this type, often showing ripples and rather loose flysheets, giving grip to wind. This type of pyramid tents is nice, but is by far not as sturdy as the three mentioned.

I've been on the De Waard website and found that they have a forum, obviously it's all in Dutch so most of us won't be able to understand it, however, I found a load of photos that had been uploaded.  It includes photos of De Waard tents and some very unusual places that they've been pitched.  Some of the camp sites look lovely.

We have a Cabanon Guadaloupe - meant to be four berth but we use it for short breaks (less than a week) for the five of us with no problem - use cabanon frame tent for longer - love it -  there is no inner tent, which makes it just a one piece job - few pegs round the base, up with the central pole, peg it out and thats it - it is so warm and cosy, didnt realise how much until we tried out a gelert that we bought and it felt so damp by comparison.  Love it anyway - mind you those dutch ones look rather lovely too .......  Jx

Just order one ;)

You can look at my forum, on www.marktplaats.nl or order an new one at De Waard. :-D

But the best tip is: go a week to the Netherlands, look at the Delta werken, Amsterdam, tulpen etc. and buy a new De Waard with lifetime guarantee (contact De Waard before you go. Normally they produce your tent after your order. But there are also tents in stock!)

And: Feel free to register at The Waard Forum to ask your questions. We will answer you in English..

Thanks Rolph.  Hope you didn't mind me posting the link to your forum.  Whenever we go camping in England we get loads of people wanting to look around our tent and ask questions so it's great to find some photographs for them to look at.  The De Waard catalogue only seems to show drawings of the basic tents and not what they'd look like with all the extra pieces.

Off course I don't mind!

And it is true that De Waard only has drawings in their catalogue. This is because they want the customers to come to the shop and look to the product in real life instead of on a marketing picture....

We allready helped German people on my forum so some English people are also welcome !! Just register and ask your question!

Hmm.. don't really know how this board works.. Is there no automatic resize?? Otherwise you can resize the pictures with a simple program such as Paint.

At my board we put images in photobucket.com

Hi Cornerhouse, welcome to the UKCS forum.

That's great news, getting a new tent is exciting enough, but to be getting a De Waard, well you've excelled yourself.  Look forward to seeing it.

Thanks Tessa! We've been admiring 'those dutch tents' ever since we pitched up at The Inside Park in Blandford 10 years ago, where there always loads of them. They are as rare as hens teeth in this country, so we are thrilled to be getting one at last.

Have managed to upload a couple of pics of our trusted lovely Trio, which we still might keep as well!!!

Karen

Hi Karen

Your Trio looks a nice tent as well.  Haven't seen one like that in Britain, only in France and that belonged to a Dutch family.
